Move Over Harrison Ford, Disney Wants Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones
After making huge waves as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy last year, and probably turning in another solid performance in Jurassic World coming this summer, it looks like Chris Pratt may have even bigger shoes to fill soon. Deadline is reporting that the "Parks & Recreation" star is being eyed to star in Disney's inevitable revival of the Indiana Jones franchise. The studio bought the rights form Paramount in 2013 around the same time they picked up Lucasfilm, so we've known for awhile that some kind of new Indiana Jones adventure would be happening, but we weren't sure if Harrison Ford would come back.
However, the report cautions that it's still early days on the development of the project, though Pratt is Disney's man for the job as the archaeologist and adventurer in a whole new franchise. That likely means there won't be any ties to the original movies, which is probably the best way to go. While I enjoy Pratt as an actor, what he's doing with Star-Lord, and even seemingly in the trailer for Jurassic World seems a lot like Indiana Jones already, so this almost seems like too familiar a role for him to take. Anyway, Pratt is lined up for The Magnificent Seven next, and we'll see how this new Indiana Jones franchise develops.
