Suicide Squad Teaser Trailer

And here we go… Warner Bros has suddenly released the Comic-Con sizzle reel teaser for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, after the footage leaked to the internet following its debut in Hall H. The studio released a statement saying: "Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed." It's awesome, and I'm glad they're doing this, but it also sucks that it was leaked. This looks dark and gritty and different than anything we've seen, but I am so excited for it. There's even a glimpse of Batman in this, along with all your favorite villains: Deadshot, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Enchantress, Killer Croc and Rick Flagg. Have at it.

Here's the Comic-Con teaser for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, direct from Warner Bros' YouTube:

Suicide Squad is a DC Comics movie from Warner Bros, directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Sabotage, Fury) from a script by David Ayer based on the comic books. Will Smith is Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman is Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn, Jared Leto is Joker, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) plays Boomerang, Viola Davis plays Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina) is Enchantress, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is supposedly playing Killer Croc. All of these characters are part of a super villain team recruited by the government for secret missions. Our friend El Mayimbe is also claiming that Ike Barinholtz is playing Dr. Hugo Strange, Adam Beach is possibly Ravan and Jim Parrack is playing Deathstroke. Warner Bros will release David Ayer's Suicide Squad everywhere starting August 5th, 2016.

  • It looks good. Hope it doesn't disappoint. Leto's Joker is growing on me... still not completely sold though. I know as an actor he will carry his weight, just gotta wait and see.
  • Jon Odishaw
This is a nice taste, doesnt give a damn thing away. That Joker looks damn good though, good job Leto.
  • Matthew
The scene with Batman, is that Affleck or will it just be a glimpse of him? I'm confused about his involvement.
    • I don't think anyone really knows yet (that didn't work on the movie). Obviously they want us to think he's in this, but it might just be one scene, or a glimpse or two, or a few scenes. Then again, someone pointed out that The Joker's writing shows up in the Batman v Superman trailer, too. So maybe there's quite a bit of crossover between the characters in all of the upcoming DC movies.
      • Jon Odishaw
I thought I noticed that on one of Batmans suits.
        • Ryan
it's robin's suit, not batman's. which is awesome
          • Jon Odishaw
            Oh really? that is awesome.
          • Sherlon
Yeah , that's right Ryan ! Its Jason Todd's it looks like . The Robin after Dick Grayson . The Joker killed him ....until Ra's Al Ghul went looking for his corpse ,put him in the lazarus Pit and he became the anti-hero The Red Hood !
        • Brian Sleider
Yeh that looks to be Robins suit.....with Jokers Writing on it....It looks like Robin has already had his time in this universe.
          • Jon Odishaw
That's a bold move, to erase a character before it starts. But I like the over the hill batman idea.
  • Justin R
I'm still not feeling Leto as the Joker. It looks like it might be good, and I hope it is.
    • Jon Odishaw
Really? did you see that mouth? He was either built to play the Joker or there was some CGI there.
  • Butchy Butch
    The best Joker yet.
  • Neuromancer
I hope this film will stop people from assuming how the Joker should be played and instead show them how the Joker can be played.
    • T. Hakeem
      Well said.
    • BNN667
      Love it
  • OfficialJab
He sounds like Ledger to me, but I like the look. And they lost the DAMAGED tattoo! Thank goodness.
    • RAW_D
Are we sure about that? Cause his forehead was out of frame...
    • It's still there. When he's saying "...I'm not gonna kill ya.." you can see it near his hairline
      • OfficialJab
Well shit, I shouldn't have watched it on a small screen first. Didn't they see how dumb people thought it was? And how dumb it is? My opinion on the tattoos was always that if they had them, they should have looked backwards and upside down, like he did them to himself in the mirror or something. Or just not have a bunch of silly tattoos.
        • I agree. It looks more like a juggalo then Batman's arch nemesis criminal mastermind. In Ayers defense though he and Leto have some big shoes to fill so he took it a completely different route. I'm not 100% sold but I think Leto's acting can make it work.
  • Lar Rackell
Has anyone else seen Mr. Nobody? Jared used the SAME laugh old Nemo had and that was all I could hear. (That aside, I think I'm finally sold on him...)
    • Jon Odishaw
Thats all I heard too. That movie is nothing but a showcase of Leto's acting ability. That movie is the reason i am so excited about him as the Joker.
      • Lar Rackell
I was wary and on the side of dislike until I watched this trailer. Oh boy, I'm looking forward to it now.
  • RAW_D
God this looks bizarre. It may may looks effing crazy either way.
  • Ricardo_PT
Looks so good! Batman's villains are some of the best things in comics, can't get enough of them. Margot Robbie is the perfect Harley, I don't care about anything else. Viola Davis sounds like a great fit. Smith makes deadshot look a vulgar mercy (as vulgar as they come), but oh well. And Leto will be a freaking riot. Also, really well put together trailer, the music is perfect and they show just enough to get us pumped. DC is finally making the superhero movies I always wanted and I'm tired of the Marvel formula, can't wait for 2016 at the movies!
    • JBroti
You're tired of the Marvel formula...putting out really good and enjoyable movies for all ages? Yea, that sounds boring.
    • BNN667
I'm totally with you and pumped for the next 2 DC films, but to kinda insist the world would be better off if Marvel didn't exist and only DC films should is just. . . insane, only a crazy person would want that, taking your fanboyism too far, just TOOOO FAR MAAAAN!!!
      • Ricardo_PT
I never said "the world would be better off if Marvel didn't exist", where in hell did you get that from my comments? Superhero movies wouldn't be what they are today without Marvel (Sam Raimi's spiderman and Iron man set all these pieces in motion). And Marvel constantly puts out entertaining flicks, but they're never amazing. I had a blast watching Iron Man and the Avengers, but that was it, Nolan's trilogy, for instance, is on another level. I want Marvel to shake things up, and their movies do show that there's a shared formula behind them, one that, in my eyes, is getting old. That being said, The Avengers is still better than MoS and I appreciate what Marvel has accomplished!
  • PikeyOneil
Cool enough teaser...but near the second half it started to feel like the Will Smith Margot Robbie show....could've just rolled the trailer for that busted broke film "Focus" from earlier this year that also starred the two ;(
This was better than expected. The best kind of surprise! The Joker will be good, Harley seems just right, and Viola Davis looks like she will kill it as Amanda Waller, although CCH Pounder would have been awesome too! // I really am ready to see this now~! Also, The Batman!!!~
    • BNN667
Yeah, surprisingly I didn't know how much I cared if Waller was portrayed well until I saw she was!
  • Dubmaster2010
Wooow....never thought i would say that...but...that looks good. Nice atmosphere. Very dark and hopeless. The only thing i don't like about the cast i Will Smith. Even if i like him in other movies...i think he does not fit in those kind of movies. His face is too well known. But the Movie looks good!
  • Brian Sleider
I dont like Harleys voice, it lacks the accent I am used to.
    • BNN667
That did throw me at first, but, after a few minutes listing to her in the theater I'm betting we'll be glad it's been tamed down some.
      • Brian Sleider
This made me chuckle out loud, you may be on to something.
  • Snowmanfloza
Thanks for not being Kindergarten level cheesy DC. Ive had enough of that from Marvel. Finally some dark serious comic movies for adults. Looks amazing....
    • dan
well said. that's exactly what I was thinking. supe v bman trailer was awesome and this one is too......and I'm not even a big fan of superhero films - but these DC movies are looking, as you said, "dark and serious" - and that's a good thing!
      • Rock n Rollllll
    • JBroti
Hahahahaha...what a ignorant opinion to bash on Marvel. They're two different properties going for two different tones. Which is a good thing. You don't want them being identical. And I don't recall the trailers for Marvel being cheesy, they just have more comedy, which is great because you get to experience laughter, thrills, and being blown away all in the same movie. Sorry that those movies speak for a wider audience, but it's the children of today that are going to become the massive fans we are, but of the movies (instead of the comics we grew up on). Or both. Plus...this could bomb and Marvel has a better track record. You can disagree but you're one person in a sea of people who look forward to Marvel movies.
      • Rock n Rollllll
Calm your tits marvel boy. What he said is exactly right. Don't get your panties in a bunch just cause Snowmanfloza doesn't think like you.
        • JBroti
My opinion again dude. You gonna seek out all my comments down to harass me, haha? Sorry I disagree with you both but I know what I like and I'll defend it at my best, if I can. You said earlier, I made my opinion about Heath's Joker to Leto's Joker based on one little trailer. Well now you're basing an entire Marvel franchise on one little suicide sauad trailer. Oh the irony.
          • Rock n Rollllll
          • JBroti
            No good comeback. As expected.
          • Rock n Rollllll
I've been coming to this site for a long time and have seen you post a lot. Whenever it came to these two universes you've always favored Marvel and your arguments that have been against DC were always dumb and condescending. You have a childish personal vendetta against DC and will always come to these posts just to shit on them so yeah my reply to you "dumb" sums up everything you have to say.
      • Snowmanfloza
I still like Marvel movies, but they are getting safer and less creative. They are taking away power from their directors to ensure that they stay safe and that is taking away creativity (must include jokes too). I enjoy reading darker comics in general and love more violent movies. DC is doing that so it is of great interest to my taste. If Marvel did the same for a movie, like Daredevil, I would also be interested. Right now it is looking like Marvel is for kids, and DC is for adults.
  • Guest_of_Honor
Hollywood has replaced Inception boom trailer style with creepy child singing remix while everything is in slow motion.
  • Bounty 4 Zuckuss
    Looks strange
  • Nash
I didn't expect to wet my pants. But yet...
  • JBroti
I still like Heath Ledger's Joker better. But...these are two different incarnations and I'm judging before the movie is released, so my opinion could change...but for now...Heath Ledger. I was hoping Killer Croc would look more crocodilian and larger. Almost like The Lizard in Amazing Spiderman, only a crocodile. Margot Robbie looks good as Harley, but I still wish she turned down the role and was asked to play Miss/Capt Marvel. Think she would've been more impressive in that role. I still have mixed feelings about this movie. Only time will tell.
    • Rock n Rollllll
Oh you can tell that much about Joker with this little trailer huh?!?! Interesting. Wow I thought Croc looked amazing. Also this isn't Marvels PG-13 CGI. DC universe doesn't work that way so stop complaining about nothing. All your comments just feel biased. Oh and dumb too.
      • JBroti
Well they are my comments/opinions. Don't like it...suck it. I don't care. I already said my opinion could change when the movie comes out involving Joker. I said there's still hope. Killer Croc looks cool but I was hoping he'd be more animal than man in appearances. Maybe that's just cause I work with alligators and crocodiles. Also, you're talking about Sony not Marvel, genius. Your reply feels whiny because I disagree with you. Oh and dumb too.
        • Rock n Rollllll
Don't worry marvel boy, everything will be okay. Marvel will keep making movies PG13 just for you so that you're able to sleep without a night light.
          • JBroti
This movie is also PG13. So I don't know why you feel all high and mighty by saying that.
          • Rock n Rollllll
Shhhhhhh it's past your bedtime. Don't forget to brush your teeth.
          • BNN667
You must lead a sad, lonely, depressed, repressed, obsessed. . . uh, I lost my train of thought, but you get it, you suck.
          • Ryan
this movie is not yet rated
          • Wes Draven
I don't see why anyone feels the need to be a jerk over the internet. "Marvel Boy" and juvenile terms like that are ridiculous. This isn't a competition, you can like Marvel, you can like DC, and/or you can like both or hate both. Acting like you're somehow superior or better just ruins the whole experience for everyone.
      • txJM
        Butthurt much?
    • Ry
Imagine his Joker or something very similar to it in this film... Ahh.
  • shiboleth
So, what, reactionaries are going to save the world? I guess, which is more plausible than good guys ... And that Margot Robbie, huh, she's so ...
  • Randall13
Was interested in what they were doing with this movie. Now, not so much. Too early to tell though. The dialogue wasn't impressive. First trailers are always a little deceiving.
  • jay
Damn, I'm pumped for this. Way moreso than Batman v. Superman, personally. I think I'm in the minority here, but I'm also actually really excited about Leto's sort of goth-rock/rap god joker here. Personally, I'm excited for pretty much any take on the Joker that is new and refreshing, like this one. At the end of the day, even if this joker sucks, i think this sort of treatment (which is pretty clearly a little more risky) is totally justified, because lets face it, 7 years ago we got the perfect joker. We have seen the pinnacle of that character's potential on screen for at least the next couple decades in Ledger's incarnation, and we don't need Jared Leto to try and match or one-up that performance. We already have the perfect Joker. I would much rather him try something new that may or may not work for people, but allows him to play with the character creatively, than try to do something in the vein of Nolan's Joker and inevitably come up short. that said, I think Leto will rock.
    • Ry
Rap god joker. Hope that sticks..
      • BNN667
You "Hope" something stinks? Kill yourself
        • Unless he/she edited their comment, it reads "sticks" and not "stinks"
          • BNN667
Yeah I think this time lyrics "The joke is on me"
        • Ry
HAHA. Re-read my post.. then KILL YOURSELF.
  • Wise guy
In the last scene harley is on the table looks like he's torturing or rather turning her! Cool.
  • Dotpols
Must confess I'm a little underwhelmed by this. Like the idea, but can see it falling to pieces easily if its handled poorly
  • Jameson Cyr
More excited for this than Bat v Supes
  • grimjob
Someone please fill me in here, as I haven't really had this on my radar. Is this part of the upcoming JL franchise, is Affleck Batman in this?
    • Jason Scarpelli
Affleck has a cameo. His main part happens at the end with The Joker in Arkham Asylum. Joker breaks out and Batman has to fight him somehow. Harley Quinn gets involved in a way hence, the scene you see in the trailer with Batman on her car.
      • grimjob
        Ok, thak you.
  • Jason Scarpelli
I'm more pumped to Batman v Superman, although this does look interesting. I'm curious to see how Batman and Joker's climatic Arkham Asylum sequence does. I'm guessing it leads into 'The Batman'...Affleck's solo film
  • Н.И. +
Seems Meh.Ayer's movies all are lame and crap.specially Sabotage.
    • Jon Odishaw
thats your opinion, thats cool. but you're wrong and I hate you.
    • Jose Segura
Don't judge until you've seen the movie.
    • jonnyb61
      i totally agree
  • Dotpols
Been trying to work out what has been bothering me about Leto's Joker, and whilst it's a minor thing, the fact that there's nothing been done with his mouth to augment the "smile" in the way Nicholson's and Ledger's joker's had some how makes him just look less "joker-like"
  • Nathan
I have been so excited about this movie for so long. This was one of my favorite comic storylines ever. and yet... This footage really, reaaally scares me. This does not look as promising as it once did.
    • BNN667
      Said no one. . .
  • DavideCoppola
I don't get easily excited over superhero movies, but this looks DOPE! Hope it's as stylish and moody as this trailer. A bit of cheese is always welcome too :)
  • ari smulders
a david ayer movie is always better than average ....
  • Steven
If they can keep Jai Courtney's role small this might be worth a watch Seriously though the BvS trailer looks interesting so by default as part of the same universe this might be cool.
  • avconsumer2
  • TheOct8pus
    That's no squad.....that's a time bomb!
  • Trey
    Im in...
  • Aaron
I really hope this gets an R rating; if it does, then it has a chance to be really good. Wish we would have saw more of Leto as the Joker but that brief glimpse at the end was pretty good.
  • BNN667
Isn't it amazing we're all getting to see a live action version of a comic series, that few people seem to have taken notice of, done with such an obvious amount of respect for the material by the filmmakers? Naw, never mind, I don't like the way that one character blinked in that one scene, this movies gonna be shit!!!
  • txJM
Well, that was the most underwhelming trailer I've seen in a long time... It makes me appreciate Rocksteady games all the more for giving us some new, genuine Joker material.
  • Is this going to be about Superheroes or Supervillains?
    • TheOct8pus
      Mostly amoral super protagonists
  • David Diaz
Loved Leto's joker laugh. This is looking promising. Thought it might lose some excitement because I saw it being shot all over town but it definitely delivered for me
  • Adam
people are annoying. how can anyone complain about seeing bits and pieces of something?
  • Nash
Don't know if this has been suggested before, but could it be possible that Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman are basically one and the same movie, just told from different perspectives? And You have to see both of them to understand either of them. This would be an interesting way of launching two franchises at the same time and thus creating a head start for DC.
  • Jose Segura
I did and I want to know who sings the new haunting version and where can I purchase it?
  • Jose Segura
Can anyone tell me who sings the Bee Gee's cover in this trailer. Love the haunting tone of the singers voice.
    • I looked it up and read in a few places it was made specifically for the film. Not sure if it's true, but that's what I've found so far.
  • Dark, sinister, and broadening throughout the trailer. This appears to solidify DC's take on the superhero universe: a more serious take. Glad to see it. I'm going to enjoy this as much as I enjoy the Marvel universe, but for different reasons. How fun.
  • Chris Groves
    I'm loving it.
  • Trix256
The joker part of the trailer was great. He's playing the psycho-type joker which looks cool. As for the rest of the trailer there wasn't too much that happened apart from Harley Quinn hanging upside down.
  • Stergios
Really promising. I'm always pumped for dark and probably a little twisted adult movie entertainment and the tone here looks really good. I'm more than thrilled to watch the supremely talented Viola Davis in a role she could reprise and man Margot looks the perfect Harley in my eyes.
