Star Wars Saga

Get ready, Star Wars geeks. Your time has come. It has all lead to this. Tonight, Lucasfilm unveils the full trailer for Star Wars - The Force Awakens and will begin selling tickets. In the announcement of the new poster yesterday, they included brief details about marathon screenings being planned around the country. The "Star Wars Marathon Event" is the ultimate fan experience: "All seven movies. One epic journey. Guests will see each of the six previously released Star Wars episodes in digital 2D beginning with The Phantom Menace and concluding with the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D!" This is the ultimate Star Wars experience, and I already know a few friends planning to camp out just for this event.

It is entirely expected that Disney and Lucasfilm are planning all kinds of big events and exciting special opportunities regarding the opening of The Force Awakens this December. It's a relief to see that everyone hosting their own official marathon screenings of the entire saga, not just the first half. Details are sparse, including cost, so stay tuned once tickets go on sale later today and check your local listing. Here's the info:

The Star Wars Marathon Event is the ultimate fan experience. All seven movies. One epic journey. Guests will see each of the six previously released Star Wars episodes in digital 2D beginning with The Phantom Menace and concluding with the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D!" Guests will also receive a lanyard featuring exclusive marathon art. Coming December 17.

The list of participating theaters for the marathon event can be found right here. Each individual theater chain is offering their own exclusives and special giveaways (like this one: "an officially licensed Mondo-designed pint glass" from the Alamo Drafthouse) and you can book the marathon tickets directly from each theater chain's website. From here it's just a matter of waiting two more months until The Force Awakens arrives, until Star Wars once again returns to the big screen, and we all go crazy with excitement. If you've been planning your own marathon, you can instead catch A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in theaters. We'll see you all there.

I would rather watch if they only show 3, in their original cut, unaltered.

capitandelespacio on Oct 19, 2015

2

There are 7 of these?? I thought there were only 3, plus the new one....

TheOct8pus on Oct 19, 2015

3

7 if you count 2 ewoks movies and the Christmas Special.

Six films? I only count three: Star Wars, Empire and Jedi....am I missing something?

TheOct8pus on Oct 19, 2015

9

No your math is correct. There are only episodes 4 -6 and now 7.

LightningB on Oct 19, 2015

10

That's improper math..so no lol

Jason Scarpelli on Oct 22, 2015

11

The shitty prequels are unfortunately part of it...Episodes 1-3 + 4 - 6 = 6 films

Jason Scarpelli on Oct 22, 2015

12

What?? Oh my god....no!.....it's all coming back to me...I must have blocked it out.....no! Noooooooooo!!!! (jumps out window)

13

Can they provide the exact time Episode 4 starts ?

Tester on Oct 19, 2015

14

The question would be "which version will be shown"? I mean, the 97 remastered?, the DVD cut? or the Blu ray cut? Forget about seeing the original 1977 Oscar wining one.

capitandelespacio on Oct 19, 2015

15

why must they always force us to watch 3D?

MSoslow on Oct 19, 2015

16

Cause they want 3-5 more dollars from your wallet.

Higgens on Oct 19, 2015

17

I think I will stay home and just watch my 3, untouched VHS. Yes, un-remastered, Han Shoots first, The real shit.

Higgens on Oct 19, 2015

18

Can I come over and watch, too? Someone better make cookies.

Alex Billington on Oct 19, 2015

19

I'll stay home and watch my laserdisc copies of the original trilogy.

Jason Scarpelli on Oct 19, 2015

20

Ha! I still have my laserdisc right here! However my old player makes some scary noises when loading it! (there are extra discs with the original cut as well)

Sascha Dikiciyan on Oct 19, 2015

21

I own the laserdisc versions on DVD đŸ™‚

Jason Scarpelli on Oct 22, 2015

22

There is no doubt in my mind that I will never ever watch the prequels again. Its very painful to watch.

Sascha Dikiciyan on Oct 19, 2015

23

Just watch RedLetterMedia's Prequel reviews. The perfect way to both remember, and forget.

What's wrong with your face??

TheOct8pus on Oct 19, 2015

25

Amen! Watching them is like a bad dream

Not even worth it. Having to sit through I; II; III would be a slog.

It's good to know I won't have much competition looking for seating when going to watch the marathon all six of these awesome movies.
