Sylvester Stallone Shares First Photo from 'Rocky' Spin-Off 'Creed'
For those who didn't know, Sylvester Stallone is heading back to the big screen as the iconic fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. But this time, he's not putting on the gloves himself for another fight. Instead, the spin-off Creed focuses on Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Johnson, son of the late world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), as he attempts to follow in his father's footsteps by asking Rocky, who is now retired, to be his trainer and help lead him to a title of his own. The film shot on location in Philadelphia, and now Stallone has unveiled the first photo from the film with himself and Jordan. Look!
Here's the first photo from Ryan Coogler's Creed from Sylvester Stallone's Instagram:
Creed is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station) from a script he co-wrote with Aaron Covington. Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. But boxing is in his blood, so he tracks Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer, despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good. With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title. But can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter? Warner Bros & MGM release the film at Thanksgiving on November 25th.
