The Last Witch Hunter

"Do you know what it's like to live forever?" Lionsgate has debuted the full-length trailer for The Last Witch Hunter, a CGI-filled horror fantasy action mash-up starring Vin Diesel as the immortal "last witch hunter" Kaulder. We featured the first teaser trailer for this a few months ago, now we can follow up with the full trailer and poster. Aside from Diesel, the cast includes Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, ├ôlafur Darri ├ôlafsson, Rena Owen, Julie Engelbrecht and Michael Caine. I hate to say it, but this just looks way too cheesy and overly-FX-driven to be taken seriously. "I need you to take me to the dream world. It's the only way…" There are all kinds of crazy things in this, flaming swords and flaming trees. I don't even know.

Here's the new full trailer (+ poster) for Breck Eisner's The Last Witch Hunter, found via Collider:

The Last Witch Hunter Poster

The Last Witch Hunter is directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies) and written by Melisa Wallack (Dallas Buyers Club, Meet Bill) and Cory Goodman (Priest). In the film, Vin Diesel (Furious 7) plays an immortal witch hunter named Kaulder who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch (Rose Leslie of "Game of Thrones"), to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. Elijah Wood and Michael Caine also star in the film which Lionsgate will release in theaters this fall starting October 23rd. You can see the first teaser trailer for this movie here. I feel like this is the Dominic Toretto origin story.

Van Helsing was ok on the back of Jackman and the always wonderful Beckinsale but the other two....ughhhh!!!

LOL. Yeah, I mean to say those movies were "good" bad.

Okay I guess. Does he have to be bald contractually or something? The hair and beard helped him look less like an angry potato as usual.
  • i like him when he's like a Dwarf from LOTR, then it goes all Underworldy. Probably be a fun watch in 3 years time on tv.

    FLOP alert

I think this story came to life during one of Vin Diesel's D&D sessions

Not really feeling this at all, it just looks dull.
CONSTANTINE with witches?! I like seeing Diesel with that Viking-beard, but this just looks like more of the same from Summit...still I'll probably end up seeing it with the lads.

I don't mind the look and Michael Caine, Elijah Wood and Rose Leslie make a pretty good supporting cast. Should be fun if anything else. That's what Vin Diesel movies are really. I love Perlman as Hellboy but man it would be cool to see Vin as big Red.
    • shiboleth
Oh no, that's blasphemy, Perlman is not replaceable. Diesel doesn't posses such kind of irony and sarcasm Perlman has (and is much better actor at that). No sir, total disagreement about that and it was very bad judgment, indeed ...
      • TK
Oh no I would never want to not see Perlman as big Red but I like Diesel's voice and presence and he may just surprise with his irony and sarcasm. It's getting towards the age where Perlman might not want to do it anymore. He even stated so himself. But I want to see Hellboy back on the big screen. Vin for me would be a decent replacement.
        • shiboleth
Hm, in some not so distant future, I might even go with it. Or, maybe, in distant future. I don't know. I mean, what I would really need from V. Diesel, is what you named 'surprise' and I will defy any possibility to reflect on that for now. But, boy, if that happens, if he becomes new Hellboy, he'd better be good ...

I love when Vin Diesel gets ridiculous or just has fun. Why else would I love Riddick or F&F so much?
    • shiboleth
      There's something to it ...
  • ProjectionistHP
Those scenes that happen in the past actually looked so good that it made me wish that the storyline would only happen in that time. Seems like a solid popcornflick to me.
    • Steven
Vin Diesel would rock in a Viking period flick
  • ari smulders
This is bad like the Deadpool trailer.....
  • ErrorSapiens
End of days, Van Helsing, Season of the witch, Seventh son, this.. these films just keep on coming so someone is paying to see them. Why?
    • Nash
You forgot the 'I am legend' flashback at the end of the trailer.
      • ErrorSapiens
well the time here is Legend Am, so excuse me :)
  • Steven
    Give me more Riddick
  • shiboleth
Some really good actors and some really shitty idea for a film that we all saw numerous times somewhere else. Pointless ..
  • jay
What in the hell? where did this come from. This looks like it came straight out of that mid-00s post-underworld era, complete with a shitty CGI monster.

I know this is catching a lot of hate, but I actually like it. Looks like a fun ride.

  • Comments_Usually_Suck
Vin Diesel is the greatist actor of our time. He is right up there with Mark Walberg.
This looks like another Constantine movie!! think I pass.!!
