William H. Macy to Direct Lea Michele & Kate Upton in 'The Layover'
Most romantic comedies are pretty formulaic and predictable, but every now and then one comes along to shake things up a bit. I'm hoping that's the case with a new road trip sexy comedy called The Layover being produced by Unified Pictures and Bron Studios. Kate Upton (The Other Woman) and Lea Michele ("Glee") will star in the film about two lifelong best friends who decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning. Things are made even more complicated when they both fall for the same gentleman at the airport they're stuck at in St. Louis.
William H. Macy, fresh off directing Rudderless, is set to direct the film with a script from David Hornsby and Lance Krall, both of whom write for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (the former actually executive produces and co-stars occasionally as well. Macy sounds pumped about his leading ladies, telling Deadline, "The minute I met Lea and Kate, the film began to focus for me. They are singular, ambitious funny women in full. This is going to be fun.” Honestly, I think Upton is a pretty awful actress, but maybe she just needs time to grow into the profession beyond looking pretty. We'll see how it goes.
