'Skyfall' On Set: Observing a Bond Shoot Out First Hand in Istanbul
For as long as I can remember, as long as my dad has shown me movies, I've been a James Bond fan. I've seen all 22 multiple times, own well-worn copies of all of them on VHS, DVD, everything. Bond has always been one of my favorite series. I've dreamt of one day stepping into his world, visiting Pinewood Studios, but I never thought, one sunny April afternoon, that I would literally find myself standing on the set of a James Bond film. In the middle of an action scene. In the middle of a crowded marketplace in Eminönü in Istanbul... waiting for Bond to grab his Walter PPK and fire off shots. But somehow, this dream came true.

Video Blog: Marvel's 'The Avengers' Initial Reactions with SlashFilm
After releasing in international theaters last weekend, Disney and Marvel Studios are finally opening Joss Whedon's The Avengers in theaters in the US this week. The movie actually screened about three weeks ago at its world premiere in Los Angeles, where a large number of movie bloggers/press first saw the movie inside the world famous Grauman's Chinese. Following the screening, immediately after, I met up with a few friends like Peter Sciretta and Germain Lussier, both of SlashFilm, to discuss our initial reactions and thoughts on the kick ass superhero movie we just saw. I'm prefacing this with the reminder that we recorded three weeks ago after our first screening of it, though I'm excited to see it a few more times as soon as I can.

First Official Trailer for Sundance Smash 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'
"A storm's coming!" Fox Searchlight has unveiled the first official trailer via Apple for Benh Zeitlin's award winning, highly praised, beloved indie smash from Sundance this year, Beasts of the Southern Wild. This is the film that I, and pretty much everyone else, fell in love with and it went on to win the Grand Jury Prize. The adorable little Quvenzhané Wallis plays Hushpuppy, and Dwight Henry her father Wink, but there are no other names, though that doesn't matter. This is a film made with passion, telling an incredible story, with amazing characters, in a vivid world, and it's still one of the best films I've seen this year so far.

Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall' Shooting in Istanbul, Bond Cast & Crew Arrive
Bond's back in Turkey! This is the third time in the history of the James Bond series that 007 has gone to Istanbul. Back in 1963, From Russia with Love was shot and took place in Istanbul, and 1999's The World Is Not Enough was also partially set in the city. Now they are back again, as 007.com and Sony's marketing machine has announced that shooting is starting, launching with a big press conference held at the beautiful Ciragan Palace Kempinski hotel in Istanbul. They posted a short highlight reel from the event, with director Sam Mendes, stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris all talking about shooting in the city.

Latest New International 'Prometheus' Trailer Shows Nearly Too Much
"Not a map, an invitation." I've hesitated numerous times posting this trailer, but here it is anyway. But my suggestion is - do not watch this trailer. Fox has released another extended three-minute trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus, his return to sci-fi that looks spectacular so far. While the other trailers revealed a few months back seemed to show a lot, this one proves that there's still many more secrets and twists yet to be seen, but that's exactly why this is showing too much. At this point, I don't want to see too much more footage that'll ruin it, instead I'd rather see the entire movie - and be blown away then. That said, have at it!

Peter Jackson Responds to Early 48FPS 'Hobbit' Footage Complaints
Last week's CinemaCon convention definitely left an impact on the movie industry, both good and bad, with some amazing presentations, and others that left a bad taste with many attendees. The biggest point of contention coming out is 48FPS and HFR (high frame rates), and The Hobbit footage/demo that not many enjoyed. While the Hobbit content itself looked great, even I admitted in our video blog that 48FPS didn't impress me the way I was hoping it would. As expected, Peter Jackson himself and Warner Bros have now responded in statements to EW's Anthony Breznican, and honestly they don't do much to quell concerns.

'Amazing Spider-Man' Viral Picks Up with 'Parker's POV' Online Blog
"Sometimes the face in the mirror does not even look like me." Peter Parker has emotions. And he's very smart. They've tried to capture those traits in the latest major viral update as part of The Amazing Spider-Man viral (or ARG). However, this update, which took days to solve, seems unnecessarily complex, only to lead to a nifty website, an intriguing new blog called Parker's POV with tons of photos, and even shots of his webshooter (the mechanical one) that we've seen him building in the trailer. While this viral is very deep and does contain a lot of details, the most exciting updates are all the images revealed this week.

Sound Off: James McTeigue's 'The Raven' - What Did You Think?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary... Arriving in theaters this weekend is James McTeigue's The Raven, his new dark thriller about poet Edgar Allan Poe on a hunt to stop a murderer who is following his words. John Cusack plays Poe the poet, along with Luke Evans as Detective Fields, and Alice Eve as Emily Hamilton. So how is this dark, moody thriller? Has McTeigue been able to live up to his past V for Vendetta legacy? Is John Cusack any good playing the legendary poet? If you've seen it, leave a comment below with your thoughts on The Raven.

Video Blog: Universal Hits CinemaCon with 'Oblivion', 'Bourne' & More
Wrapping up our coverage of CinemaCon, and putting one hell of a cap on the convention in Las Vegas, was Universal's big presentation Thursday evening. The studio brought any and everyone, including stars from most of their big summer movies, like Kristen Stewart from Snow White and the Huntsman, and Jeremy Renner of The Bourne Legacy. Not only did we get to see brand new footage from both of those movies, Universal unveiled a lot, and showed a lot, including completely raw scenes compiled from only a few weeks of shooting on Joe Kosinski's Oblivion and Carl Rinsch's 47 Ronin, as well as other surprises.

Video Blog: Fox Brings 'Life of Pi', 'Prometheus', 'Taken 2' to CinemaCon
Yet another studio presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, this time hosted by 20th Century Fox looking at their upcoming slate of movies in 2012. Their panel was a unique presentation focusing on the content, and it delivered. The most impressive footage we were treated to was an early look at Ang Lee's adaptation of Life of Pi, the unfilmable novel that looks like it may be a very strong Oscar contender. Fox also showed new footage from Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Akiva Schaffer's comedy Neighborhood Watch and Olivier Megaton's sequel Taken 2, which looks badass. Fire up the latest vlog!
