Yep, all of these entertainment massives make their debut in a span of 2 glorious days in the wonderful month of November. Ah yes, November… the month before Christmas and many delightful weeks of holiday break; the time when we eat pounds of turkey with our family and retail stores hold their annual trample-fest known as Black Friday.

November 17th to 19th may be the single most incredible weekend for the entertainment industry, ever. "Why, Alex," do you ask? Well, well, let's just take a more detailed look at November and all that's coming out in that one weekend…

These special "sneak preview" screenings also feature "Freddy's Best Kills" which will be shown only at these showings. For anyone out there who is a fan of Freddy Krueger (is that possible?) and/or the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, this is an event not to miss! Seating is limited and the tickets are already on sale via Fandango!

Post Talladega Nights / Descent Opening Events

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Talladega Nights or The Descent showings and won a prize or just got to see what we had to offer. Unfortunately we had some limited quantities and couldn't give out everything we had to everyone who asked. We have some video from the first events we ran that we're working on and will hopefully post up over the next few days. If any of you guys who were out there who won on a prize or just wanted to check out who we are from the opening events could post a comment and let us know what you thought or how it went - that'd truly be awesome!

Pulse Pushed Back

/FILM reports that the Japanese horror remake Pulse is being pushed back from August 11th to August 25th. There was going to be a First Showing event on August 11th, however we have to reschedule it and are considering whether or not we can fit it in with our schedule still. We'll update everyone once we have more details. A bit unfortunate to see something fall under such pressure to be moved… I hope this means that it'll look better by completion, but I'm not entirely sure.

Scanner Event Report at The Esquire

If any of you guys reading this came to one of these showings (and got a poster or not), please post a comment letting us know what your thoughts on this event were.

As you've probably read, myself and the rest of the First Showing guys went up to The Esquire theatre in Denver tonight for the Colorado opening of A Scanner Darkly. We were at both the 7:30 and 9:45PM showings there and did a little trivia and some fun contests (best Keanu Reeves impression!) for all the people out catching the opening of this film. Check out the rest of the photos and the run-down on our festivities from the opening of this unique Warner Independent film.

Scanner Darkly Tonight in Denver

As we promised… anyone who is coming out the Landmark Esquire tonight is in for a treat. We have lots of spiffy Scanner Darkly full-sized posters to give out to the crowds via some really awesome "games" we've come up with exclusive for Scanner Darkly. This movie has a really unique style and image and we've worked up some really unique games and things to play out there. We'll be at both the 7:30PM and 9:45PM showings doing our pre-movie events, so check us out if you're coming. If you aren't, well figure out how to, cause you won't want to miss this!

If you are just passing by, stop in and say "Hi," as we'll be in the theatre somewhere. And if you can't make it, come down on July 28th to the Kimballs Twin Peak in Colorado Springs to catch our festivities again there for Scanner Darkly's opening in Colorado Springs then.

Scanner Darkly Mega-Opening

First off, I apologize, as it seems we "died" after Pirates 2 opened. Well, I pretty much did, in the sense that I left immediately after (had a flight 9 hours after the midnight show got out) and was in a no-cell-phone no-internet region of Wyoming for a close friend's wedding. Just arrived back this evening. Back on topic though!

Scanner Darkly, the uber-hyped uniquely-stylized film is going to be opening in theatres quite soon. Last Friday it opened in 7 cities. This upcoming Friday it is opening in a bunch more big cities, including Denver. Then on July 28th it is opening in Colorado Springs and a whole bucket-load more of them.

FS.net is working with Warner Brothers Independent to do big events at the showings at Landmark Esquire movie theatre in Denver this Friday for the 7:30PM & 9:45PM showings, as well as work with Kimball's Twin Peak to do big events on July 28th when it opens there. It's a mega-opening because our event festivities for this movie are panning across both theatres, both cities, and 2 weeks of openings. I just wanted to announce this and let everyone know and start some hype for this movie and its opening. I'll update once we know what we're getting from Warner Brothers and all of what we'll be doing.

Cars Thoughts

I'll be blunt — Cars was my least favorite out of all the Pixars (see post below). Now… don't get me wrong. Every Pixar production is considerably better than 60% of the movies that come out every year. So my reference is saying that all the other Pixars (that are incredible) are better than this one, which was also incredible but not amazing. I think part of it is the whole idea that Cars just don't "tickle my fancy" (cliché's suck). They've always had classic characterizations: fish, adorable monsters, bugs, toys, and even humans… but Cars. It is kind of cool (I thought a few of them were really personable), but the whole Nascar part of it. That's the damn southern hicks sport. C'mon, no one in their right mind loves that. Yea, fast cars are cool, but Nascar and racing?

We Have Heeded The Omen

The Omen was… just good. I'm personally not a huge horror/scary movie fan, but Josh is a big one. The theatre was about 1/4 full… not bad given it was the first morning (11AM) showing on a Tuesday. I'm not 100% sure, but the horror genre just doesn't push the boundaries for releases or making money. They may push it for some filmmaking techniques and special effects, but that's about it.

The Omen First Showing

Josh and I are heading to the 11AM (yes, the first showing of the day) of The Omen on its release day: 6-6-(0)6 (ooohh scary). We'll post our thoughts up tomorrow once we get back.
