Suggested Reading: The Dark Knight - From Batman to Joker
Suggested Reading is a column written by our comic book expert Roman Chavez that provides suggestions for comics to read in relation to upcoming comic book based movies.
"I am vengeance, I am the night, I am Batman!" As a kid, those words sent chills up and down my spine. They are from Batman: The Animated Series, and so began my love for Batman. There is literally no hero that can compare to Batman. He is respected, but feared. Loved and hated. More than that, he is truly what goes bump in the night - a modern day boogieman for mobsters, thieves and murderers. It may be a little cheesy, but I'd like to walk you through some of my favorite Batman moments growing up before we look at some of the best Batman comics. From the cartoon to comics, to the much anticipated film The Dark Knight, I want to share with you why it is that I love Batman so much.
Suggested Reading: Hellboy II: The Golden Army - Hell's Angel

Born of fire, a boy falls to Earth. His right hand large and stone-like. Anung un Rama. It is said that his arrival signals the end of the world. Well… not on his watch! Hellboy is a great character to read about accompanied by an amazing cast of teammates at the B.P.R.D (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense). He looks like a big red ape, smokes cigars, has a huge stone hand and wields a big ass gun called the Samaritan made from melted down church bells and fragments of the True Cross. Hellboy just rocks!
Suggested Reading: Hancock - The Indie Comic Book of Superhero Movies
Suggested Reading is a column written by our comic book expert Roman Chavez that provides suggestions for comics to read in relation to upcoming comic book based movies.
We all know the Supermans and the Spider-Mans of the world, but how often do we get a completely fresh superhero idea? Not as often as you think. The market is pretty much tapped out. I believe that Hancock will reintroduce the superhero genre back to the public who may have some reservations about superhero-related material. I know I've had my dreams crushed by a few superhero movies and it took even me a while to bounce back. I watch them all even if I think it may ruin a character for me. I'm a fan, what can I say? Let's break Hancock down this week and even throw in some great indie comic suggestions.
Suggested Reading: Mark Millar's Wanted - Curve the Bullet
Super heroes. Super villains. The never-ending struggle. But what if that battle could end? The world would rejoice. No more bad guys endangering the innocent. People could walk the streets feeling safe, just enjoying life. But who's to say the heroes would win that fight? We always just assume that good prevails over evil. What would happen if the final battle was waged and the villains came out on top? Wanted answers that question. Published by Top Cow Productions, Wanted is a vision of a world where the big fight happened and the bad guys won. Not only do they win, but they either kill or horribly defeat the heroes and remake the world to their (The Fraternity's) specifications. And that's not even giving away the plot.

All right, here I am, back again! Roman, your comic book guide to the stars. I got a little flack for my Iron Man comic book suggestions, and that's great! I’m trying to get people to look into more comics, and everyone who left comments both positive and negative had some good ideas. Think of this column as more of a suggested reading section, not required. This week we're going to look at Louis Leterrier's Incredible Hulk and in honor of its release I've listed some of the best Hulk stories to read.

Hi guys, it's Roman, your comic book guide to the stars. Today's comic book lesson is Iron Man. I know what you're thinking: "I've seen the trailers, I've heard the buzz, just show me the damn movie!" I know it sucks to wait and maybe those Iron Man fires aren't burning as hot as they were six months ago, but bear with me and stay psyched cause its going burn this mother down.
