Newsweek's Oscar Roundtable with Six of 2009's Best Actors
Back in December, THR hosted a roundtable interview with the six soon-to-be-nominated Best Directors of 2009 (sadly, Peter Jackson was the one who didn't make the Oscar cut). Following in suit, Newsweek put together their own big roundtable interview after the Academy Awards nominations were announced. Their new series, called simply Oscar Roundtable 2010, includes one big roundtable interview with these six great actors: Jeff Bridges, Morgan Freeman, Carey Mulligan, Sandra Bullock, Gabourey Sidibe and Woody Harrelson. You can check out one of the video clips below or head over to their site for more. Check 'em out!
Watch This: Disney's New Prince of Persia Superbowl TV Spot
"The gods have a plan for you." The only other TV spot that aired during the Superbowl that wasn't already online before was for Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I know everyone isn't too keen on this movie, but I'm still very excited for it, I don't know why. I loved the video game and I don't have any complaints about this (no, I don't care about Jake Gyllenhaal playing the "Persian"). And I love the reversal halfway into this TV spot. I think that may be a hint that we're going to see some big time reversal moments in this movie and I can't wait to see that. Anyway, I've said enough, check out the new Superbowl TV spot!
Watch This: Disney's Alice in Wonderland Superbowl TV Spot
Disney aired their Superbowl TV spot for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and it can be watched online below. Its got some new footage and new editing and I actually really like it. I'm still not sure if this will be that good of a movie or not (I'm honestly a bit skeptical), but I am looking forward to finally seeing it and then letting you know what I think. But if you're looking for a final boost of interest for Alice, check this out, I think a few of you may be ready to see it in theaters after watching this. Disney should have more TV spots coming during the Superbowl so stay tuned here for any more that pop up once their air. Enjoy it!
Indie Trailer Sunday: First Trailer for Ondine with Colin Farrell
Okay, bear with me, even if you don't like Colin Farrell, I still suggest checking out this trailer for Neil Jordan's Ondine. I actually saw this film at the Toronto Film Festival late last year and quite enjoyed it (although I never wrote a review). This trailer makes it seem way more epic than it actually is, but that said, the film itself is very sweet and charming and kind of a breath of fresh air to watch (especially after watching depressing films). Don't worry, it doesn't turn into a horror/thriller at the end (like this trailer implies), but it's a great film. The Playlist first found this on YouTube last week so I owe them thanks. Watch and enjoy!
Watch This: If Famous Filmmakers Directed the Superbowl?
Are you ready for some football this weekend? Who are you rooting for at the Superbowl: the Saints or the Colts? Well, if you're favorite team didn't make it to the Superbowl or you just don't care about football, we've still got a fun football-and-movie mash-up video to share with you today (via Hollywood Elsewhere). The geniuses at Slate made a video called: What Would it Look Like If Famous Filmmakers Directed the Superbowl? I wasn't expecting this to be as funny as it is, but they nailed it with all of their directors. They mock: Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, Wes Anderson, Jean-Luc Godard, & Werner Herzog. Enjoy!
Watch This: Full Theatrical Trailer for Atom Egoyan's Chloe
A couple of weeks back we featured the red band trailer for Atom Egoyan's Chloe, which contained quite a few steamy scenes. Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official theatrical trailer for the film (with MPAA approval this time), which stars Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, and a very sexy Amanda Seyfried. I'd say this still isn't something you should be watching at work (you could get in trouble), but I think it looks pretty good. I'm definitely interested in checking it out, I love Egoyan's style in this, but I'm not sure if I'll love it. It just seems tough to get into it. Check out the new trailer below and let us know if you'll see this in theaters?
Must Watch: First Teaser for Luc Besson's 'Adèle Blanc-Sec'
Last year we featured some photos from a new Luc Bession film called Les Aventures Extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec, or just Adèle Blanc-Sec for short, about a young reporter named Adèle Blanc-Sec who happens to be some kind of female Indiana Jones-like French heroine of the early 20th century. Twitch discovered that there was a new trailer on AlloCine and it's pretty damn good. It's kind of creepy in Jurassic Park way and I love the build-up and the world Besson has created. This is just gorgeous. I'm so excited that Luc Besson is back! If you're intrigued in any way, check out this trailer, I guarantee you'll dig it - enjoy!
Watch This: Brand New Red Band for Kevin Smith's Cop Out
You ready for this? MySpace has debuted a brand new red band trailer for Kevin Smith's Cop Out. Don't put this on if you're at work or you may get in trouble - this is some good profanity in this! They even make a joke about an "Unfuckables" porno in this, oh man, gotta love the humor. I know this isn't written by Kevin Smith, but it definitely has his feeling to it, and I'm totally into it. (Although my only complaint is they ruin that joke at the end, but oh well.) I'm guessing most other people aren't into this, based on the reaction from the first trailer, but I don't know. Hopefully this trailer gets you re-interested? We'll see soon - check it out!
Watch This: Ridley Scott's Robin Hood Superbowl TV Spot
Universal has debuted their Superbowl TV spot for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood today over on Yahoo. I guess it's becoming a trend to release your big Superbowl TV spots before the actual Superbowl? Or maybe this is just another random TV spot, because Yahoo doesn't say anything about the Superbowl (although there's no other reason for this to be airing). Anyway, check it out below, it actually looks pretty damn cool. Just like the first trailer, this looks epic and awesome and huge in scope and scale, but it still feels like Gladiator with bows and arrows. Despite that minor criticism, though, I'm still pretty pumped for this. What about you?
Must Watch: Shyamalan's Last Airbender Superbowl TV Spot
Paramount has debuted their Superbowl TV spot for M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender a couple of days early (thanks to UGO), probably because an official trailer is hitting early next week as well. I've got to say, this looks pretty frickin' awesome. The more I see from The Last Airbender, the more confident I am that Shyamalan is the perfect director for this. His style plays into it perfectly and the quality of the footage looks great, too. And it looks like they're sparing no expense either, making this look completely awesome and full of effects. I really do hope this is the start of the anime trend in Hollywood. Can't wait to see more!
Paramount's Shutter Island Superbowl TV Spot Arrives Early
Yep, if you didn't know, the Superbowl is this weekend. And that means new TV spots for a whole bunch of upcoming movies. Paramount has decided to release their new TV spot for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island a few days early, probably because we've already seen multiple trailers for this and a 30-second TV spot isn't that exciting of a reveal. This looks really creepy and I'm sure it's going to scare some Superbowl audiences (or piss them off) but I personally can't wait to see this movie. I've been anxious to see the next Martin Scorsese-directed feature and I'm glad it'll finally be in theaters in just a few more weeks. Enjoy!
Watch: District 9 Director Neill Blomkamp's 'Alien' TED Video
Last November, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp was chosen to be a part of TEDx in Vancouver. The director wanted to join the program but couldn't be there in person so he recorded a video (via SlashFilm) which is now online. He was asked in an interview once if he thought the aliens represented in District 9 were an accurate representation of what extraterrestrials are really like. His answer was "no" and from there he goes off on a talk about what real aliens would be like and if there is life on other planets (and why we haven't found it yet). It's an absolutely fascinating video presentation that I definitely suggest watching.
Watch This: First UK Trailer for Heartless with Jim Sturgess
Lionsgate has debuted a UK trailer for Philip Ridley's Heartless starring Jim Sturgess as a gangster in East London who is tricked into a deal with a demon and then fights to save his soul. In addition to Sturgess, the cast includes Eddie Marsan, Timothy Spall, Noel Clarke, and the always beautiful Clémence Poésy. I first heard about this project two years ago and we're now just finally seeing a trailer for it. Unfortunately it doesn't look that good. I don't know where the story is going or what's happening, but I guess it doesn't look terrible. I like Sturgess enough to see any movie with him in it. Check it out and let us know what you think?
Must Watch: New Red Band International Trailer for Kick-Ass
"With no power comes no responsibility." Another new trailer for Kick-Ass, damn, how many is that now, like five? MSN has debuted a brand new red band international trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass that may just so happen to be the best trailer yet! This one starts from the top again, with the opening scene, and goes through all the introductions, so if you don't know much about Kick-Ass (or haven't read the comics) you can start here and get a taste of the bloody violence in this glorious new comic book movie. Thankfully this is arriving in theaters in just two more months - can't wait. "Being a superhero is bad for your health!"
Awesome New International Trailer for Clash of the Titans!
Damn the gods… again! IGN has debuted a new full-length international trailer for Clash of the Titans that mixes some elements of the original teaser and theatrical trailer as well as some new scenes involving Zeus (Liam Neeson) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes). I have to say, I still think this looks awesome and I can't wait to see it, but we're nearing the point where I just don't want to see any more new footage before seeing the actual movie itself. Don't forget that Warner Bros may still be converting this to 3D by April. Maybe it's just because I'm a big fan of the original Clash of the Titans, but I think this looks totally badass. Enjoy!
