Josh's Best of Comic-Con 2006 Upcoming Films

1. Spider-Man 3
Even though I wasn't able to see the footage because of unforseen issues, I am still looking forward to this movie the most. Partly because I am and have been a Spider-Man fan almost all of my life, and also because I just know how much ass this movie is going to kick. Enough said.
2. Saw 3
The Saw series has not only been some of the best horror to come out in recent years, but it is also an amazing story of how the first film was created. I have a great amount of respect for everyone invloved in these films. The clip they showed blew the first two films out of the water, and it was only a 5 min clip. After hearing the actors and directors say that the twist in this one will make you question certain things about the previous films, I can't wait to see what they have cooked up for us this time around!
I really wish that the director would release a trailer for this film for the world to see. I was able to catch about a 3 minute uncut trailer for this movie and my mouth dropped. The scenery is beautiful. The violence is raw and intense. And the story is cool as hell. Having been a big fan of Sin City, I am eagerly awaiting this film adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel.
4. Ghost Rider
Yet again, I was not able to see the footage they showed. However I have been waiting for this movie for a really long time. From what I have seen in the trailer, the flaming skull looks awesome, as well as his motorcycle. During the press panel, both Nic Cage and the director were very knowledgeable about the comic series and I felt like this movie was in good hands. The Rider is coming!
5. Children Of Men
The clip they showed at Comic-Con was one of the most intense things I have ever seen. It was about 7 minutes long and features some of the coolest action and cinematography in the whole convention. The director talked about how there are very little "cuts" in the movie to keep it realistic. For instance, in the 7 minute clip we saw, the camera didn't cut once. Even with all of the action. This movie will hopefully feature some ground breaking stuff.
6. Tencaious D: The Pick Of Destiny
The rock opera everyone has been waiting for is coming. I love the D and this movie will rock everyone's socks off! The clip they showed featured a young Jack Black who was having truoble with his father, played by Meatloaf, and leaves his house to travel and start a rock band. The whole clip was a musical number, though. I have a feeling this movie will bring people back to their Rocky Horror days.
7. Grind House
Not only does this movie have two feature length movies in it, but they are being dircted by two of the best directors in Hollywood right now. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are teaming up to bring us this sleazy, gritty, dirty, and best of all, explicit film. The clip we saw featured zombies, a girl with a gun for a leg, and a lot of gore! This will definitely be the hottest ticket of next year, considering that you get two films for the price of one.
You can read my review if you want to know my opinions on the movie. But for now I will just say that I have never laughed so hard in my life, and I can't wait for this movie to get released.
I am a huge Broken Lizard fan and knowing that this movie is about a secret competitive beer drinking contest between countries of the world, how could it be bad?
10. The Tripper / Flyboys
I wanted to make a list of only ten movies, so I am cheating by putting these last two films as one. We did not see any footage of The Tripper because David Arquette lost the tape. However, the panel was hilarious and just for that I am going to see this movie. Flyboys looks like a great action film. It is about World War I fighter planes and their struggle in being the first pilots of their time.
Comic-Con was a great experience and this was very hard to pick my favorite out of everything I saw. But it is exciting to know that next year will be an amazing year for movies!
