An Albert Einstein Film in the Works

This may make big news now, but it could lose its traction when it finally gets around to it. Just look at the Beethoven film earlier this year that was in a few theaters very briefly, Copying Beethoven, I bet you never even heard of it until now! A new film about the great mathematician Albert Einstein and his relationship with his first wife Mileva Maric is in the works. It will be directed by Liliana Cavani (2002's Ripley's Game) and Giovanni Ribisi will take on the role as Einstein.

During interviews in promotion for his upcoming film Perfect Stranger, Ribisi mentioned his involvement:

"Einstein. I'm going to be doing Albert Einstein, with Liliana Cavani, who did the Charlotte Rampling film from the 70s, called The Night Porter. It's great and the script is really great, and I'm really excited about it."

For more info on the project, head to Cinematical. Sounds like it could be promising, but I'm thinking it will get lost in the mix as nothing more than another random independent feature. Let's hope not, since I think Giovanni Ribisi is a great stand-out actor, and we've never seen a well done film about Einstein yet.

I'm more interested in seeing how Andy Serkis plays Einstein.
