Sin CityLast Thursday myself and a couple of other press members had the chance to shoot questions at both Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino about many of their upcoming projects while out at ShoWest where they received the Directors of the Year award. The developments on Sin City 2 have been the most prominent over the last few days, with details coming in from Rodriguez himself, star Rosario Dawson, and comic book writer Frank Miller. The whole project is getting a strong push to finally get underway.

From ComingSoon.net, during a press gig recently in the video game Second Life for the movie 300, Frank Miller said that he talked to Robert Rodriguez recently about Sin City 2. They hope to begin prepping the sequel in the next six weeks for shooting to start in June.

This was confirmed on Thursday via IESB.net at ShoWest by Rosario Dawson, who also said that it will begin shooting in June or July of this year. She also said she "kind of" had an idea of who they want for the lead, but she couldn't talk about it. She was prodded, "Angelina Jolie?" and smiled and shushed the press, "I can't talk about it."

And some other minor details were mentioned by Robert Rodriguez at ShoWest as well, including that he's going to make the sequel low budget just like the first one, when asked about budgets and whether 300's success will give him more to work with this time around.

I expect Comic-Con in July to be a big launching ground for this whole film, so expect more leading up that and get ready for more badass Sin City action!

Ya, you know, he said at ShoWest that he's writing Inglorious Bastards next while on the long press tour for Grindhouse... and I'm sure I'm going to grill him on that this upcoming weekend when we interview him.
