Another new flick has quickly made the way to the top of my highly anticipated charts for the future. It's called The International and is being directed by Tom Tykwer (of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and Run, Lola, Run). From Variety today, action regular Clive Owen has joined on the project to star in the lead role.
The International is an action-thriller about an Interpol agent who investigates corruption at powerful banking institutions. It doesn't sound much now in the description, but I can guarantee it'll be pretty fulfilling - Tykwer always delivers something great. The script was an original idea story by first-time writer Eric Singer and shooting is set to begin in September. It will probably be a late 2008 or early 2009 release.
I was only really introduced to Tykwer when I caught Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and was astounded by it. To top that off recently, he directed my favorite and the most heart-racing segment in the film Paris, Je T'aime. If you aren't familiar with his work, I definitely suggest you check some of it out, especially Perfume as soon as you possibly can.

Tom Tykwer's Run Lola Run is also an excellent movie, great pacing.
