Daniel Craig Cast in Edward Zwick's Defiance

A bit of casting news this morning. Although I wasn't a big fan of Blood Diamond from late last year, I am a big fan of The Last Samurai, both films from director Edward Zwick. His next upcoming project is a WWII film titled Defiance, and news today from ScreenDaily.com reports that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, will star in the film.
As always here on FS.net, casting news is only worth mentioning when it borders on the edge of being truly exciting. And given the career Daniel Craig is building for himself and how much I do appreciate Edward Zwick's films, I couldn't pass this up. Craig, who not only will be taking on this as well as the 22nd James Bond movie, also has a few more expected hits: The Invasion with Nicole Kidman, New Line's The Golden Compass, and Fernando Meirelles Blindness, three projects I'm already looking forward to!
The film, Defiance, is described as the true story of four brothers in Nazi occupied Poland who flee to the Belarusian forest with a band of Jews and join forces with Russian Resistance fighters. It's being touted as another WWII epic, which seems to be another trend picking up over the next year (I mentioned that very idea in an article a while back).
