Justice League of America

Honestly, I'm not really sure what's going on with the Justice League of America movie. It's got tons of buzz at the moment, but there are no confirmations on when it will shoot, what superheroes will actually be in it, or any story details. The latest update on the film is a big list of actors who director George Miller is currently testing in Los Angeles. The roles they're competing for range from Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter. Apparently a whopping 35-40 actors are being seen for various roles in the film. Who are they?

Included in the casting sessions are: Adam Brody ("The O.C."), Joseph Cross (Running With Scissors), D.J. Cotrona ("Windfall"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3), Michael Angarano (Sky High), Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2), Max Thieriot (Nancy Drew) and rapper Common. Also present is most of the cast from NBC's "Friday Night Lights", including Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter.

Almost everyone listed is very young, an interesting observation. Miller, who directed last year's Happy Feet and the Mad Max trilogy, is looking for "young actors to grow into their roles over the course of several movies." Miller is also testing to see how well the actors interact with one another and how they look as a group, especially given they'll be working together as the Justice League. He's expected to report back to the studio midweek. From there we can expect official casting announcements and further progress on the film by the end of October.

Is this Justice League movie really coming together as something good? Or is it just going to be a mess all put together at the wrong time with the wrong cast. I think everyone admits that the real Justice League movie they want(ed) is one with Christian Bale as Batman and Brandon Routh as Superman all intertwined with their respective solo movies. Unfortunately that really doesn't seem to be what Warner Brothers and George Miller is going for. Only time will tell…

I know it supposed to be the JLA, but it sounds like they're casting for the Teen Titans.

Gonna suck...hard. Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have finally managed to rescue the Bat-Franchise and second movie in to the new series, WB wants to screw it up again! Brandon Routh is easily the best Superman in my opinion, and Bryan Singer's superhero movie credentials are well established, so kudos to Bale, Nolan, Routh, and Singer for steering clear of the inevitable train wreck.

Yeah, sounds like they are going for The Justice League: The Early Years. Less of a JLA vibe and more of a Legion of Super Heroes vibe. Ew.

Does anyone know if Nadia Bjorlin was part of the group? She is the best choice. She is 28 years old. Amy imput would be great. Thanks

Christian Bale is doing the smart thing by staying away from this as is Routh who gave me chicken skin when I saw him on the silver screen not because of his performance but because I grew up with Christopher Reeves and the similarities are eerie. Just because something sounds like a good idea doesn't mean it actually is one. Unless they are planning on making 5-6 3-hour movies that cover one story i.e. like Star Wars or L.O.T.R. this is going to suck. A little piece of advice to all those old farts in Hollywood concerning comics-to-silver screen, DO NOT do what the Spiderman series and any Marvel movie for that matter did and try to appeal to multiple audiences. You end up with crap. Stan Lee is a big sell out who takes it up the rear. IMO, Marvel movies are more about quantity and the new DC movies coming out are more about quality. Batman Begins is the best comic to silver screen adaption ever done bar none because it delved into who Bruce Wayne/Batman are and not flashy special effects and cheesey action. I, like many people I know will not pay to watch this movie when it comes out nor will I buy the DVD unless Christopher Nolan does it and Routh and Bale or in it.
