Meryl Streep Monday

The Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep has quite a few great movies in the works, including two big Oscar hopefuls hitting this fall movie season. The first is the new Tom Cruise film being distributed by his recently re-launched United Artists, a political war drama titled Lions for Lambs. The second is another political drama also starring Reese Witherspoon and directed by Oscar winning director Gavin Hood, titled Rendition. Both have brand new full length trailers that hit recently and for any die hard movie fans are definitely worth watching.

To watch each trailer, just click the photo below. They're also both available in High Definition.

The all-star cast and Oscar winning director really set this above the rest this fall. It looks like it could be a strong Oscar contender if not just an incredibly powerful movie, even moreso than Lions for Lambs below. I may even venture as far to say Reese Witherspoon will get another Oscar nomination, if not a win.

Rendition Trailer

Rendition is directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi) and hits theaters on October 12th.

Lions for Lambs
They've got everything right on this one to put on an incredible political drama with an incredible cast. However, even with the newest trailer out, I'm still a bit confused on what exactly the story is and why their is a dual focus on the military and the politician. I'm confident director Robert Redford won't let us down with the story, so be ready to enjoy this one come November.

Lions for Lambs is directed by Robert Redford (The Horse Whisperer) and hits theaters on November 9th.

I'm pretty lost on what that Lions for Lambs movie is supposed to be too. It less of an introduction of what we are to expect from the film and more of a collection of anti-war statements. It's as if the filmmakers don't feel they need to tell us what the movie is about, rather expecting anyone with an anti-war sentiment to fill in a seat based on the comments from an obviously noble Robert Redford and a pompous Tom Cruise. I'm sure there is more to their characters but right now I'm seeing stereotypical college professor and politician.

Brilliant move on Tom Cruise's part. His image is at an all time low, mainstream America has a strong distaste for him and his arrogance. So place himself in a role as an overreaching politician that exemplifies everything the press has told us the Republican party is. All of his assness gets translated/interpreted as exceptional acting. Add to it a story line that could not be better aligned with the liberal views of most of the Academy voters, the Globe voters, etc. and you've got the perfect recipe to not only rebuild your image, but maybe snag some serious awards too. In the trailer I think Redford seemed old, dated and out of touch as he sermoned his views to those around him. Cruise seemed like the perfect dickhead...not a lot of acting required there. Streep came across as an annoying cross between Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer. The action scenes will make this film seem appealing, but the anti-war preaching will make it seem more like a Michael Moore film. No thanks...I'll pass.

I’m actually really interested to see the film after watching the trailer. Meryl Streep is awesome, Robert Redford a legend and Tom Cruise Genius! They were all at the premiere of Lions for Lambs in London and my friend got some exclusive footage of Robert and tom chatting about the movie! Check it out on sharenow dot com
