The moment I heard that Gone, Baby, Gone was co-written and directed by Ben Affleck, I was a bit skeptical. Then I watched this trailer, and holy shit was I wrong! Damn does this look good! It looks like Ben's younger brother Casey Affleck is really going to carry this movie the full way through, and maybe even earn an Oscar nom. This really is more than worth watching today, it's a must watch.

I too was skeptical when I heard Ben Affleck was directing and Casey Affleck was going to be Patrick Kenzie. However, I was reminded how much I like Casey while watching Ocean's 13 and this trailer does look promising. My one question after watching the trailer is why Michelle Monaghan's Angie Gennaro is only in about 10 seconds. The trailer makes it seem like Kenzie is the sole investigator and that causes a little bit of hesitation.

This movie looks great... I've never hated any of Afflecks films, but none of them are great in my book. This looks promising, maybe directing is his thing... Ed Harris is hit and miss, but this looks like a hit. Morgan Freeman is good in everything he touches, the movies aren't good, but he is (The Contract, Edison). Even Casey Affleck looks pretty good, about time "little brother" got some attention. Lets just hope the movie isn't as slow as Mystic River, the acting was great, the story was good, but the pacing felt off, almost boring at times...

I was worried that this movie would be a bit of a Mystic River knockoff but it doesn't seem to linger in that territory too much. Could be a good way for Ben Affleck to establish a name for himself as a filmmaker, working with a reliable police procedural from an exceptional author's novel.

Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, and Omar from the Wire? That's all I needed to see.
