The Darjeeling Limited Trailer

There are those of you who are certainly fans of Wes Anderson - he's made Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou so far. The Darjeeling Limited is his next wild adventure, and I can't really explain the story - you'll have to let the trailer do it for you. It does however star Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, and Owen Wilson, so enjoy this new trailer and hopefully if you're a Wes Anderson fan (or maybe not), this will live up to his past reputation.

!!!!!!!!!!! Okay. I am going to take a couple of deep breaths. Alright. This film is going to be (no, i didn't say "could be") amazing. All of Anderson's films seem to take one or more characters on a journey of some sort of self-discovery, all the while remaining uniquely funny and emotional, without being sentimental. This film looks like it is going to stick to that formula, which may get on people's nerves, but really- if it ain't broke, why fix it? Some people argue that Rushmore or the Royal Tenenbaums may be Anderson's best, but honestly the Life Aquatic is my favorite of his films. I love the story following the great Bill Murray's Steve Zissou and his much diminished career as a documentary film-maker, eventually leading to a very emotional scene in a small sub, somehow, and for some reason believably cramming every major character into the film into it with him. (And, might I add, the Sigur Ros song that is playing in that scene is a PERFECT choice.) I really feel like Anderson's films keep getting better in some ways, while all of them are great in their own respects. They all seem connected, like how Babel, 21 Grams and Amorres Perros are. As if you couldn't tell, I love this guy's work, and when this movie comes to theaters i expect a director profile on Wes Anderson! (Haha, it just occurred to me that I also talked about Wes Anderson in my e-mail to you. I promise, I like other director's too.)

Derek, I'm glad you mentioned The Life Aquatic. I love it, especially on repeat viewings because the film has many different levels, much more symbolic and emotionally complex than his other works. Here's to hoping The Darjeeling Limited is as wonderful.

You forgot "Bottle Rocket." That was his first film.

Bottle Rocket usually isn't regarded as one of his best films though. I like it a lot, but as I said, I just feel like they get better every time.

This looks great. I'm a big Wes Anderson fan. it's nice to see Adrien Brody in this, and to see Jason Schwartzman with a mustache. Ha.
