I dub today indie friday! Earlier we ran the trailer for the indie film In Bruges, the Sundance opener, and now finally here is the domestic Persepolis trailer. Persepolis is a black and white 2D animated movie made in France in a multitude of foreign languages. The reason this is worth mentioning is that it's apparently being called the Best Animated Feature Oscar winner already. It has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with even harsh critics praising it, and it just won the Best Feature Film award at the Denver Film Fest earlier this week. This trailer is an eye-opening introduction to the film and should definitely be enough to convince you to actually go out and see it.

Persepolis is both written and directed by French comics artist Vincent Paronnaud and Iranian illustrator Marjane Satrapi. The film arrives in limited theaters starting on Christmas Day, December 25th. The poster for the film is featured below.

I am really excited about this film. I have heard absolutely nothing but wonderful things. Has anyone at Firstshowing seen it or will see it? I imagine I won't get the chance until it releases on DVD.

It was first just a name that I grazed over in some article in some random magazine. Now, I can't wait to see it at all. Thanks AGAIN to this site!
