Aaron Eckhart Prepares For Battle: Los Angeles

Aaron Eckhart has officially joined Battle: Los Angeles as the lead. The project is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) and was written by Chris Bertolini (The General's Daughter). The story in Battle: Los Angeles follows a Marine platoon's encounter in the battle on the streets of Los Angeles against an alien invasion. This marks the first big lead role in an action movie for Eckhart, who as we all know did a phenomenal job as Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight earlier this summer. The project sounds interesting but apparently has an awful script. Will Eckhart be able to save it?
Battle: Los Angeles is being developed at Columbia Pictures / Sony Pictures with Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend) producing, but doesn't officially have a start date yet. I hope they're hiring some talented screenwriters to come in and clean up Bertolini's script, because I've heard some very bad things from multiple sources. I really like Eckhart and don't want this project to be the one that brings him down, so I hope he can save it from certain death. Liebesman seems passionate about the project, which is a good start, I just hope it pays off with a great finished product. Will this be Eckhart's big break?
I thought the core was a pretty big movie. But i am still excited for this. I love army vs Alien parts in movies(cloverfield for example) and i am excited for a full movie based on that idea of Man vs Alien.

This sounds like a 'Core' type flop, hope he does not do it, his career is on an upward swing this could derail it. 'Meet Bill' did enough damage already and surely he does not need the cash.

Whoah! LA Alien Invasion - This outta be interesting to see how this turns out. I don't know if Eckhart could save it. We've seen alot of films with great potential and successful actors but the script puts to the crapper. *coughMaxPaynecough*

I'm not alone when I say that while the movie sounds cool, it probably won't be. Eckhart should ditch this project and start trying to convince the Marvel people to let him be the new Captain America. 🙂

I definitely agree...he'd make an excellent Cap...though I doubt they'd ever cast a DC villain as a Marvel hero...

I think this flick will further cement Eckhart as a Hollywood heavyweight! The biggest factor that bodes well for this production is that it will be developed and released by Columbia/Sony; deep pockets available without a penchant for butchering the final product. I'm very sure that script doctors will be called in and then a final script polish will be done! Eckhart knows where he stands now and I really don't think he'll pick a cow-pile as his follow up to his star making turn as Harvey Dent in "The Dark Knight".

This script was terrible. Horribly cliched. Perfect post-biggest-movie-on-planet flop cash grab for Eckhart.

he was phenomenal in dark knight? i think thats a bit much.

I thought that he did an excellent job in The Core. I liked that movie. If it's sci-fi and action, I'll at least give this one a look.

I wanna see a good alien invasion movie not some independence day bullshit. Like a what it would really be like if aliens invaded the earth movie besides signs which was good from that point of view.
