Check This Out: New and Improved Megatron from Transformers 2
It's been remarkably quiet on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen front for the past few months, which is a bit sad considering it's eventually going to be one of the most talked about movies next year. Thankfully our friends at Latino Review picked up an interested scoop over the weekend. They've supposedly uncovered some photos of the new and improved Megatron from the sequel. Back in August, CHUD ran a small scoop saying that Megatron would be a tank. These photos below, as you can clearly see, are of a tank version of Megatron. These are apparently photos from a toy version of the robot that we will eventually see in the film. Whatever the case, this most likely means we'll be seeing a badass Megatron.
Click the photo below for higher res versions of the shots. As far as we can tell, this is Megatron's alternate form in this film, considering he was some sort of futuristic jet in the first one. If you're wondering how in the hell Megatron is back if he was killed in the first movie - so are we. Just don't expect an answer to that question until June 26th next summer. Is this the Megatron you always dreamed of?
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is again directed by action film superstar Michael Bay of Bad Boys, Armageddon, The Island, and Transformers previously. The story and screenplay for the sequel was written by Transformers writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci as well as Ehren Kruger (The Ring, The Brothers Grimm, Blood and Chocolate). Paramount will be unleashing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in theaters on June 26th, 2009 next summer. We'll definitely be there!

Well don't see it then 😛 Megatron looks rad, reminds me of his War Within and Beast Machines look.

I never liked the organic design of Megatron in Michael Bay's movie. This looks to be more of the same.

The Transformers adaptation is just not working..at all. The director first of all..Michael Bay? That guy simply is not a director! What does he do? First of all he is verbose..he puts everything in a scene whether these elements work or not. Then he uses the same shots in every sequence..just remember the scenes in Pearl Harbor where the Japanese airplanes bombarded the ships...every 10secs the same scene! That guy doesn't know the meaning of DELETED SCENES and most of all the meaning and use of decoupage. Concerning his scripts, they are for retards..he has no confidence in himself and the way he constructs his scenes, he knows that they are not working as they should, therefore he fills that creative / visual void with childish dialogue. His montage is so unskillful that you won't be able to remember what happened in the previous shot or sequence. The very montage on his films negates the very existence of the sequence in hand..I don't remember that sequence therefore it doesn't exist. (an example of that can be found also in the big chase sequence in "The Island"). And of course it seems that he worships the army a little too much!! As far as I remember in the Transformers animated series the robots were the protagonists..not the US.marine corps or anything else.."You are a soldier now.." remember that line from Bay's Transformers? What the hell was that? This guy if he ever directs a more "personal film", let us say a film with nuns..he will turn them into G.I.Janes!!! So he makes horrible films and ruined the Transformers as a feature film. That is a fact. Now what about the special effects in Transformers? That was a failure too..for one particular reason only..just one..you simply couldn't make out who transforms into what or who or HOW.The special effects were lacking functionality big time! The good thing is that you can always trust in Bay's future films. They will be cheesy and horrible beyond comprehension. The same way you know that Bon Jovi will always write the same album over and over again.

#4 So much hate. He does put butts in the theater seats and makes loads of cash so Id say most people disagree with you. However, your kind is the loud minority.
Shige on Sep 22, 2008
From the looks of it, it's sort of similar to when Megatron got turned into Galvatron. i mean Galvatron was a canon, but the canon on this tank make it look more similar to Galvatron... i wonder if the story line is gonna involve Unicron bringing Megatron back...

I, personally, think this looks rediculously awesome. I can't wait. And as far as his revival is concernced, i read somewhere that Scorpinok (or however that's spelled) gives his spark to Megatron. But it wasn't confirmed, so I guess we'll just have to wait for it to come out...
brandon on Sep 22, 2008
Wait just a gosh darn minute, Megatron died. Now the bad guy in part 2 is going to be Megatron? What? That would be like having Hans Gruber be the bad guy in Die Hard 2. I liked the movie but I don't know if I could buy into another one with the same bad guy after he is dead.
Balathazar on Sep 22, 2008
This is improved? He still looks like a twisted hunk of junk.
Tom Brazelton on Sep 22, 2008
Simply put... If you didn't like the first and forsee the "suckiness" of the sequel, then don't go. For us fans who are looking forward to it, rock on. Megatron coming back is no surprise but I'm really hoping that Transformers2 includes some involvement of The Fallen 'cause that would bring a common enemy to both Autobots & Decepticons. Time will tell.
Dave R on Sep 22, 2008
ok, so. . . . . . FUCK MICHAEL BAY WOW, a Megatron-Land-Rover-when-he-could-fly. . . .whoop-de-doo. Is this for the toy, the sell-out, or both? There was a clip in South Parks Imaginationland Trilogy where michael Bay doesnt know the difference between special effects and plot devices. Perfect summary. This idiot is destroying 2 generations of childhood memories for Transformers. Unacceptable.

I loved the first movie, way better then what I thought it turn out into, cant wait for the new one

New and improved??? This movie is still gonna be fucking whack just like part one!!!

Okay my thoughts on all the hate....Transformers the movies are just that THE MOVIES, they can make a whole new transformers universe for all I care as long as its entertaining and fun. Yeah I grew up with transformers on my TV and in my hands playing with my friends but I can't even stand to watch the cartoons anymore because they are terrible and I have outgrown them. I like what they are doing with the new transformers and as long as its good I could care less if they made optimus prime a girl!!! Get over your nostalgia and move on.
Unseen on Sep 22, 2008
In the cartoon doesn't Megatron get recreated as Galvatron, a Decepticon that changes into a cannon-like machine? This may be the case in the sequel... You know what's funny? Since the promo pics of the first movie fans of the original have been screaming foul and saying that Michael Bay had ruined their "childhood memories" yet they fail to realize if the old school animated Transformers had been faithfully adapted on screen it would be more of a critical disaster than it is now. The cartoon was so utterly cheesy that it makes the first movie look like Citizen Kane. Of course the film was a cheesefest, just scope the source material before you ask why. The original cartoon was conceived to complement the toyline anyway so the framework was destined to be ridiculous. I agree that Michael Bay isn't exactly Martin Scorsese but he was an exceptionally fine choice to adapt an unserious kids show to the big screen. It's not like he attempted Gargoyles or Exo Squad, sources that have actual respectable writing. Bay's a guilty pleasure director and as long as I turn my brain off I have fun watching his work... except Pearl Harbor.

14, I was wondering that too. However they do it, more power to 'em!! I have a new, unique, original idea. Why don't they make Megatron into like... a gun or something.
kevjohn on Sep 22, 2008
This rocks. Loved the first movie, glad they kept Michael Bay. Wouldn't be the same without him. But I think a lot of us are more interested in Megan Fox...

so...people in the United State eventually get used to live peacefully since the autobots and decepticons "invaded" the earth in the first film... sounds very strange isnt it? how is the hell on earth people in US getting very "cool" about it...living with robots came out from no where...no panic, no scare...hahahaha...funny...funny... nah, micheal bay's tranformers are just for kids...

We all know that they picked the wrong director for the film. We all know that it was a cash grab for GMC. Why did they kill off jazz so quickly? He lasted all the seasons in the original cartoon. There are so many reasons why we all hate this movie, but we gotta take it for what it is. No matter how may times we complain or leave comments, they're never gonna change.......... To set the record straight Sparkplug and Spike (Sam & His dad) worked on a oil station in the water not planting flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!

21 i was thinking the same thing, but like you said... there is really nothing we can do.. i loved the first movie just because its Transformers. Im so pumped for the second movie and i cant wait. I could care what megatron was, but he really is ''suppose'' to be a gun but oh well. I think he looks bad ass as a tanker up top.

#26 i think you'd miss my point badly... micheal bay's transformers is just far too simple...and very unreal...all events that happened in the film had been taken so lightly by the director... i know, i know its just a cartoon...but why cant he made it much proper way despite the huge budget that he earned from the studio... yes, its a cartoon...but why made it too cartoon in the film...i just dont get it...its stupid...

I just read through these comments and I am always so amazed at the remarks people leave. What a bunch of pathetic, never satisfied, assholes!! Just enjoy the fucking movie, if you can't, then don't go see it and spare the rest of us your asshole comments. Some of us actually like this shit and happen to think the second one will be cool. And whether you like it all or not, who fucking cares?! Keep your miserable remarks to yourself. Why do you have to go out of your way to let the world know you don't like something?! If you're so much better or you could do a better job then why are you on here bitching?? Why are your names not scrolling across the screen?? Why are you not rich from all the money these movies make?? Pry because your a miserable failure in life! I respect what these people do and I will pay money to go appreciate it. If I don't like it, then oh well, my loss. And for those quick to snap to judgement, these pics AND MORE are posted at toy news international and show the back of Megatron with what looks to be jets from his original mode, so maybe he is a triple changer. Wouldn't that be cool?! But continue on with your fighting and bitching and pissing and moaning because your life sucks and your old lady dont!!! Fucking losers.

it looks like a futuristic tank. i loved the first transformers. i hope this one will be better.
darrin on Sep 22, 2008
This might make sense with the reference to "The Fallen". The toy version of this character transformed into A TANK, what a suprise. I would say if this is not a misinformation campaign this could be the way to bring The Fallen into the picture without getting into too much inter-dimensional sci-fi stuff.
Rich on Sep 22, 2008
Wasn't Megatron a gun that Starscream used to shoot at people they found unfavorable in the original series? Now switching Megatron from a gun to a jet to a tank makes more sense than turning Piccolo from green to white...
Kail on Sep 22, 2008
#30 doesnt know anything, hes a trekkie
bassbin on Sep 22, 2008
Thank you Kail (#31) Megatron did transform into a gun that Starscream (mainly, I think others might have used him) used. This, along with Bumblebee transforming into a Camero instead of the original VW Beetle, were two of the reasons I was not happy with the first one...well there were many others, but these were two of the main ones. I was so stoked to hear about this series until I heard all the changes they were making from the original series I grew up watching. That being said, I have heard Soundwave is supposed to be in the second one. If he transforms into anything else but a boombox cassette player, I am writing this "real action" transformer series off. Too many childhood memories were ruined from the first one. And yes, I finally saw it on HBO; and I could feel a little bit of my dying when I watched it.
rob_lbk on Sep 22, 2008
for those that think megatrons the bad guy again(#8), hes supposed to be their ally in fighting the fallen, i guess we will have to wait and see how he comes back and if hes galvatron, this could all be smoke and mirrors by michael bay, should be a teaser at the end of the week in front of eagle eye and a full trailer in front of star trek
harrison on Sep 22, 2008
Why is it that you guys seem to hate Micheal Bay. I think he does a pretty good job on his movies. Hell, Friggin Spielberg wanted him to make this movie because he thought that he could be the only director that could make this. So what possible other director do you think could be better then Bay? Plus this trilogy is an adaption to the T.V. series not the actual series made to film. Meaning adjustments have to be made!

It has not been quiet on the Transformers Fallen front..there's tons of stuff (and I'm sure misinformation) floating out there..but it's fun to read..and to watch..there were a couple of scenes shown on several sites...and who knows what is real and fake from MB dude. Nevertheless..I look forward to Transformers Fallen...shoot..it's a fun popcorn movie..explosions and jammin' cars. Hmm..sounds like Transporter...but I'll be there to watch that too!

Bay does what he does best, blow stuff up, insert pointless hot women and hit you with insane special effects! It's simple entertainment. After reading many of the posts above, clearly it seems there are many people who like the movie and many who don't. The people who don't like it are either people who never got into Transformers ( a category i fall into ) or people who wanted and indeed expect more from huge films like this in terms of story, dialogue etc. I see Transformers as being kinda like the X-Men series. Being a huge fan of X-Men myself, when the films came out i loved everyone of them, even 3, just because it was X-Men...i'm aware that the films weren't great but i didn't matter to me. Now i never got into Transformers, so when i saw the movie i wasn't really impressed. yes the sfx were great but everything else just seemed a bit average.... Don't get me wrong, i'm not a 'hater' of Transformers, It was a film i wanted to see but after i had seen it i realized it wasn't for me. I think people need to start accepting that before they claim that it was a bad film and that its not working as a series. Because judging by the posts and articles on this website, for a lot of people..it is working.
Josveta on Sep 22, 2008
You know, i just cant wait to see this movie, especially from Michael Bay film. I've been watching transformers for life. Same bad guy, Megatron again? Well, this is not the first time. Those dudes complained so much about it, then i have a solution. DO NOT GO WATCH TRANSFORMERS 2. Please make sure only the fans go.
Castor Troy on Sep 22, 2008
Why do you people fight over a picture or concept of a movie!? I think the photo is fake. I loved what he did with Prime, & Bumble Bee. Anyways I think Bay is on the right track with the tank idea and look forward to seeing what he does with the new Megatron.
Kilo Alpha on Sep 22, 2008
Jesus...I think I lost some brain cells reading some of the comments on here. Please If you have a problem with transformers not being completely like the earlier "nostalgic" childhood version(s). Just please shut the hell up and let the professionals make the movies. Honestly...how stupid and lame not to mention corny would the movie be and look like if you stuck to all the original ideas...It would end up like Batman and Robin. So please spare us all your personal wants of a crap movie and listen to yourself speak (re-read your post) and stop making yourself sound like a fu*k-tard!
Marqwest on Sep 22, 2008
Do you wanna know what really grinds my gears?! All of these people on here talking so much about how this was a was so terrible and what not. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but come one. How could the movie been any better? It had a great story, special affects, cast, and conclusion that leads to a good sequel. I agree with #29...if you don't like the movie then don't go see the next one and don't go out of your way to tell people what a terrible movie the first one was. Numbers don't lie. The movie made a ton of money. It was a blockbuster hit. And it was nominated for an Academy award for best special affects. I love Transformers so I have to stick up for Michael Bay for making a great movie. And you can believe I will be there on opening weekend for Revenge of the Fallen. I would like to give a word of advice to the true Transformers fans...don't pay attention to anything you see or hear regarding the sequel until you actually see a trailer. Michael Bay said he is definitely going to leak false information on characters in the movie just to keep people off guard. So I wouldn't be surprised if he stages fake vehicles on the set just to make the rumors even stronger. That's what I would do. I hope Megatron does come back as that bad ass jet! I didn't see enough of it and I hope to see a lot more. But it would be cool to see him as that tank as maybe some evil upgrade to himself at the end of the movie (kinda like the Super Shredder at the end of Secrets of the Ooz...remember that guy?). And people, the movie is a sci-fi action movie so anything is possible as long as it makes some sort of sense. Megatron is one of the characters you think of when someone says Transformers. Do you really believe the director would have a main character in the first movie only in the latter part of the movie and no more? I don't think so. That's like having Optimus Prime in the beginning and then killing him off mid-ways into the movie and making Jazz take over the team and we never see Prime again. Thank you gentlemen.

THANK yOU #29 AND #39... So many hates in the world arlready, hehehe.. This movie is for the people who cared for the characters so iconic in the 80's. And At last they're in big live action films now! Michael Bay fits for this movie, I can't imagine anyone doing this. George Lucas? Steven Spielberg? Bay is the right choice, and Spileberg agrees, who are we to argue... to those haters= TRANSFORMERS Grossed more than $700 MILLION DOLLARS!!! And it will continually goes up when the the 2nd film arrives. I can bet on that! This two films is just the start of the MANY TRANSFORMERS Movie in the future. You haters may already be dead and these ICONS still sell. For me, what Michael Bay has done was SUPERB, and for the next film, just the thought of it, 10 or more autobots, more decepticons, Megatron returns, AWESOME!!! I dont care what generation or series they have adapted the film, as long as the icons are there; Optimus and Megatron! That's all what all kids in the world would truly wanna see... And believe me, I felt shivers all over me, whenever little kids of today hovers around my Autobot sticker on my car. It seems like the Transformers gained more fans more than ever... who's the loser now haters? I just wish that they will show more of Cybertron for the background story. Whatever the origin, original for the film or adapted from the so many generations of its cartoons, i will love it for sure. Since every incarnation of these bots were always different. (I wonder if those stupid haters knew that?) As long as it is realistic and believable for a Sci-fi flick, I'm sure more people will watch it. And what they have done on the first one make sense already, exo-skeleton as their alien look, genious! Hasbro is doing well by letting new story and new look, for at least the Grown-Up-Fans of the original series. And I'm sure I will complete the whole next set again. GOOD JOB SPIELBERG AND BAY!!!! DON'T LISTEN TO THE STUPID COMMENTARIES OF STUPID FAN-WANNA-BES... THE REAL FANS OF THESE ICONS WILL WANNA SEE WHATEVER ORIGINAL THINGS YOU MAY COME UP WITH WITH OUR ICONS!!!

Looking forward to the new Transformers. Thought the first one would be a piece of shit but I was blown away when I was dragged to the theatres to see it. As far as the new Megatron goes it looks ok to me. Trust me people if you think there gonna fuck this one up and make it a piece of shit, you couldn't be any farther from the truth. It will smash into the box office, and every on this page that left a comment WILL (without a doubt) have there fat ass in a theatre payin 10 dollars to watch it. And they'll leave with a light wallet and huge grin on their face skipping to their car. And when you get home your gonna tell all you friends how cool it was. And if I'm not right then send me an E-mail. Peace. Patty McDougal.
