David Fincher Speaks About Keanu Reeve's Chef Project

Nearly a month back we ran a rumor about a Keanu Reeves project called Chef that David Fincher was interested in directing. All we knew were the names and the title, not even a synopsis, but it sounded like it could be pretty cool. Well MTV finally caught up with Fincher and made sure to bring up Chef and actually got a quirky answer our of him. "It's good and chewy," Fincher says. "It's like a celibate sex comedy if that means anything. It's really about the creative process. It's truly an aromatic art-form, making food. I love that idea. And I love Keanu's passion for that world." All that does is confuse things even more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I think Fincher means by a "celibate sex comedy" is something along the lines of someone who wants to have sex and is surrounded by sex, but can't? So maybe Keanu Reeves is a chef who wants to cook, but can't, for some reason? Or even vice versa? Although Fincher didn't really say much, these statements did give me enough to imagine a crazy Fincher comedy in the vein of Fight Club but with a quirky chef instead. I'm liking this project the more I hear and I hope it actually gets off the ground. Unfortunately it sounds like it'll stay in the freezer a bit longer, despite all this early buzz. Thoughts?

By that description, he probably means that stylistically and tonally it's like a sex comedy, but without the sex. Or Something.

I heard Paramount already gave a go to this project. I hope Keanu does 47 Ronin first though, that one sounds AWESOME, although he and Fincher might create a great partnership, both are very offbeat.

I'm pretty sure that this is based on "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. I remember a few years ago that there was talk about Brad Pitt starring, so something could've changed...

Not based in Kitchen Confidential, it's an original script written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises). It was on 2007's blacklist.
