Every day, every hour, this very minute, in fact, dark forces attempt to penetrate these walls. This time I cannot hope to destroy it alone. Looks like Warner Brothers let another new trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince slip out a bit early. This looks absolutely stunning, much darker and much more exciting than any other Harry Potter in history! Seeing these kind of things happening in a trailer for someone who hasn't read the books is a vastly different experience than those who have read them. Anyone else getting chills when they watch this? Just don't forget that it's not coming out "this year." Enjoy!
Watch the international trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from YouTube:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is again directed by British filmmaker David Yates, of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix previously, and written by Steve Kloves, who also wrote the adaptations of Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire but not Order of the Phoenix. This is the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's immensely popular series. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince arrives in theaters next summer on July 17th, 2009.

Wow, awesome new trailer!

Looks great! Though the little joke at the end kind of ruined it. Simply put, they're really dragging out showing any real content from the film, ARGH!

Very good. The style of this franchise is changing as dramatically as the books on which it is based. Should be an impressive film.

These films keep getting darker (visually speaking), by the time the last film comes out is it going to be in black and white? It's taking me out of the movie.

Did anyone else think Lord of the Rings for the first minute or so? Looks darker, which is a good thing I think. And I agree the bit at the end was random and felt out of place.

Great. Another glimpse at the feature I've been anxiously awaiting for quite some time now... and a reminder that I have to wait another 9 months until it comes out. Step on my head while I'm drowning. Thanks WB. Oh yeah, why does Fenrir Greyback look like something out of Nightbreed? He's a werewolf....not a monster from Midian.

I like it very much. Looks much better than the previous movie (i.e. trailer). I've read the book and I'm kind of irritated, because there are some parts of the trailer, I can't remember, that they are in the book. For example the burning house and the fight in the fen (? I don't know if that's the right word (no mother tongue ; ) ))

Looks amazing and much darker than the previous films. I do wonder why WB is letting so much out considering we still have 9 months to go.

So great!!! can't wait to see it !!!! More darker, more powerful, More watchable than the others(I love the others)! This will be the best, I think ^^

If this comes out looking and playing out like LOTR, I will give it a chance... on DVD. Always thought the harry potter series was kind of lame. Just wizards, at a school of wizards, fighting evil monsters and other wizards. Meh. No offense to you hardcore fans out there. Different people, different strokes.

why does it say this year at the end of the trailer?

Amazing! Loved the last one, have watched it probably 10 times. Ha! Sucks we need to wait until next summer but it will be worth the wait. They just keep getting darker and better.

I guess David Yates has done to Harry Potter what Christopher Nolan has done to Batman

The last trailer was much awesomer... I think. Even the little bit of music at the end gave me chills. This one was just a bunch of random stuff happening.

that last one sucked. hope this one is better
darrin on Oct 27, 2008

Darrin, I agree....the last one was very poorly directed, I thought. Hope Mr. Yates doesn't let us down this time. In fact, I thought the last one was the worst of the series, ( and the trailer to that one looked pretty good...)

@darrin and ktano0, I don't know which movie you guys watched for the last film but it was brilliant, not as much as Prisoner of Azkaban but great nonetheless. This trailer was awesome, this really sucks that they pushed it til next year. I can't wait.

Look, say what you will about Harry Potter and the franchise it's created, but it is STORYTELLING AT ITS BEST. I can't wait to see this movie. Bring it on.

they keep saying this one would be darker and better. the one that was the darkest and had alot of action was the goblet of fire. the order of the pheonix can't touch the goblet of fire.

Whats the word like Trekkies, but for Harry Potter fans?

Potheads Why does it keep saying THIS YEAR? Why would they release this trailer? It only takes one guy a few minutes to change that date. Its no secret, they've known about it for a long time. They wouldn't "surprise" fans would they? Why else say "This Year?" The last trailer had a specific date. This one was created if not after, then at the same time. Why wouldn't it have the date? Could they possibly decided to cave to the desires of fans?

At exactly 1 minute(where students are standing around Hagrid and he shots lightning in the air), can someone tell what part that is in the book....I don't remember that.

First of all, i really dig the Potter series, both the books and the movies. . . . buuuuuut. . . . this was the point when the book came out, keeping pace with current state of cinema where nearly every movie/story with the slightest fantastical touch seems to posses an element of a prophecy. Which, in return, included a "chosen one" as well. And i got really annoyed that Rowling played into that. And honestly, as such, I've gotten really effing tired and bored with "prophecy" this, and "chosen one" that, and "he's the chosen one the prophecy has foretold!!" type of crap that motivates these storylines. And the trailer just made me roll my eyes and think of Gandalf shouting "You shall not pass!" and everything else i've already seen in different movies before. And that kinda bums me out when i get re-runs instead of goosebumps. This "chosen one/prophecy" aspect isnt new by any means, but there seems to be a heavy surge of it in today's movies and A&E where, at its very core, makes too many stories too similar when the audience deserves something more.

I've read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This trailer is quite better than first trailer came out. Also it'll get better than previous series but this one will have even more tragic events. This movie is getting darker and more seirous than others but it'll get sense of humer. Death of the professor.....fights between teachers/students and Death Eaters....destructions of Hogwart....and more unknown secrets started to reveal. Even the betrayal of Professor Snape. Don't worry. You'll find out when you watch it. Let's not spoil it. If you read Deathly Hallow, you'll find out why these events are occuring and how to stop Lord Voldemort. The ultimate anwers will reveal....

As evidenced by the end of the trailer, it looks like Steve Kloves is back with his stupid jokes. HURR HUR HURR! The franchise was better off without him.

I concur, Icarus. It is storytelling at it's best. Looking forward to this film. :]

The Harry Potter movies sucked. I mean alright the first two were great but then the series kept getting darker and darker and less fun to watch. I as an avid reader of the books am appaled at how much Warner Brothers has changed everyones favorite boy wizard. toadsage7@Yahoo.com
