Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Another new Harry Potter trailer already?! Why do you taunt us so, Warner Brothers? Exactly one week before the film was originally supposed to hit theaters (before it got moved to next July), they've debuted yet another full trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was only a few weeks ago that we brought you the exciting international trailer, which I thought might've been the last new footage we'd see from the Harry Potter world until sometime next year, but I guess not. This trailer is a lot darker (both literally and figuratively) than we've seen before - but definitely shows us what this sixth film in the franchise is all about. And from the looks of it, it's a mix of comedy and intensity. Sounds good to me!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is again directed by British filmmaker David Yates, of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix previously, and written by Steve Kloves, who also wrote the adaptations of Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire but not Order of the Phoenix. This is the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's immensely popular series. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince arrives in theaters next summer on July 17th, 2009. Be there!

After the 4th movie, I was kind of done with the Harry Potter films. There was nothnig in the trailers, reviews or press for the 5th movie that could bring me back to the theater. I haven't seen it to this day. But even though the 6th film is directed by the same guy that did the 5th, I might check this out. I just get a better feeling from it. I don't know why.

Tasty, but with a bit of melancholy

Jaf on Nov 14, 2008

Nice. Millennium bridge getting trashed, nice addition Mr. Yates, that 'll make the Londoners chuckle. !!

Dr.Duvel on Nov 14, 2008

I hate you, Warner Brothers. Thanks for stepping on my head whilst I drown...

Somnambulist on Nov 14, 2008

Incredible. I can't wait for this movie as this was my second favorite book, behind only Deathly Hallows. It still sucks that it got moved to June.

CK on Nov 14, 2008

I really hope this gets leaked before its release...that would teach Warner to screw with its fans. This looks so amazing and it excites me and pisses me off at the same time...

Peloquin on Nov 14, 2008

yyyy is is taking so long yy warner bros. yy this was next week yyy yy but any ways i cannot wait im dying inside plzzz july come fast i cannot wait long enough awesome man awesome

alan on Nov 14, 2008

Goblet of Fire is my favorite Potter adaptation, the fifth movie wasn't as well translated to the screen as the ones before it. But this one looks to give all its predecessors a run for their money.

Da Man on Nov 14, 2008

kickass!!! this trailer's better than the other one...

bltzie on Nov 14, 2008

It looks amazing but I'm still so confused why WB is giving us so much so early.

janet on Nov 14, 2008

written by Steve Kloves, who also wrote the adaptations of Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire but not Order of the Phoenix. That sells it for me! I love the books and have enjoyed all of the other movies, with the exception of Order of the Phoenix. The Order of the Phoenix movie was too congested and jumbled to the point where it wasn't enjoyable. Now I know why. Looking forward to it, and hate Warner Brothers for pushing it back.

This is a basic bitch slap to the pervious films in evey manner its a bigger and better picture!

Xerxex on Nov 14, 2008

i'm not impressed. it looks kinda suckish. Bring back mike newell

darrin on Nov 14, 2008

Come on people.....this is kids stuff. I wish Lord of the Rings would come out with another trilogy...for us adults.

OhNo on Nov 14, 2008

paulina on Nov 14, 2008

Ummmmmm, Lord of the rings cant come out with a trilogy or any books, Tolkein is dead. His son still runs the Tolkein Dynasty but he's not much of a writter. And del toro is working on the hobbit with Jackson so you will have the intensity that LOR had but thats ways away from being in production. But LOR was my favorite next to Star wars! This looks to be a step up from the other Potter Films and do welcome it, its about time it get s dark and people start getting wanded off!

THERBLIG on Nov 14, 2008

Looks very good, despite David Yates and his douchebagery in OotP. I also noticed the way he put the bridge in there which in the book was only mentioned in passing, I bet he omits big details and characters but includes a big CGI filled action scene where the bridge collapses. What's up with the wheat field, I have no idea what that's about. Hopefully it can still be a great ride

adrian on Nov 14, 2008

Do they keep saying "this year" just to mock us? Looks awesome.

DinoChow on Nov 14, 2008

u know it was origanly 2 come out 2 day

mike on Nov 14, 2008

but i AM the chosen 1

Harry Potter and the Shaved Sack...

avoidz on Nov 14, 2008

Snape's in the bloody TITLE and he appears 1 millisecond in the trailer. Here's hoping that he shows up a bit longer in the movie itself 😛

Ann on Nov 15, 2008

This year?! Dammit WB! YOU mock us!

SCROOGE on Nov 15, 2008

I doubt it will be leaked early. I heard that though they have the movie completed, they won't be editing the footage together into the full movie until closer to the release for just that reason.

Olivander on Nov 15, 2008

Wow, this one literally gave me chills. The shot of hogwarts with the dark mark over it was amazing, god i cant wait!!!!

Cory on Nov 15, 2008

OMG gives me goosebumps. it jazzes me up put pisses me off so much at the same time!!!! I WANT IT NOW

Blake on Nov 15, 2008

move over batman.... there is a new dark knight in the town... this looks more spectacular than all the previous harry potters combined.... this is what the previous harry potter movies should have been like... snape will finally get to do more than his ridiculous goth-ballet ... i have hated snape in all the movies before this because he was more a caricature than an evil egomaniac... here he finally gets a chance to show off... i like the choice of slughorn.... and loona lovegood.... it looks promising.... i wish the only reason why warner bro's moved it back is that they are going to make this flawless and it seems to be working.... i love everything i have seen so far.... this is going to blow everyone's socks away... bet Dobby will be happy 😀

viral on Nov 15, 2008

The Potter movies have just came better and better. I really dont like the story of Harry Potter, but they are movies/books u just gotta read/watch :\ They are tales of the 21century 🙂 4th and 5th movie was a lot better then the first ones. Love how its evolving to darker and darker 😉 Will go see this one once it comes out!

max on Nov 16, 2008

batman will b the BEST movie of the year unless 007 can top it. :O I also think that the potter movies got way worse since the 3rd.

mike on Nov 16, 2008

wow.........its really great m thirsty 4 another 1

ibaa on Nov 17, 2008

Oooooh darn it I kep hoping each new trailer will be rubbish and ruin any and all excitement for this massively delayed extravaganza sadly no, this was all kinds of awesome wrapped up in the usual stiff Radcliffe acting (except when angry) damn damn damn

mikesta on Nov 17, 2008

I hope Warner Brothers allows the scene where Harry "sic sempers" Malfoy. Even if they don't this is gonna be so good! Too bad they split book 7 into two parts.

David on Nov 17, 2008

Daniel F. on Nov 17, 2008

Well unfortunately this looks like another good movie. Unfortunate because we will not see it until summer. I suggest they move up the release date. And if this one is as awful as the last one they need a new director. The last one had a great trailer too and it was a huge disapointment. Please listen to me oh grand creators of this movie. Your have time to make it perfect , don't over edit. We fans will sit through an extra 1/2 hour even hour for a good movie. Please don't disapoint again!

Jen H. on Nov 22, 2008

well wow i cant even explain how excited i am for this 😀 too bad i hate to wait a life time to see it.

Mari H. on Nov 28, 2008

OMGSH !!! i cant wait till it comes out. i already finished reading the book ! i imagined everything that haapens like in the Premier 🙂 but damm long time from now :/ lol

Lay-dee™ on Dec 7, 2008

awesomme!!! those effects are so cool :)!

Susana on Dec 11, 2008

I have to agree with Jen in #42. Order of the Phoenix had epic trailers and I cannot even watch that movie now because Yates butchered it. It was my favorite book and the longest, yet this Yates a$$clown decided we needed the shortest movie of the lot. He sucks and, despite this trailer, I fear he'll ruin this one too. How can they possibly do this book justice and set up the final two flicks by omitting the scene where Harry sees young Riddle visit Hepziba Smith, from whom he would later steal two future horcruxes? I'm worried about Yates' comments about adding some romantic comedic aspects to the movie. Why? If want a romantic comedy I'll check out the next Meg Ryan flick. This is supposed to be dark, so make the damn thing dark. And make it accurate. At this point, the movie does not have to tell a stand alone story. No one who is going to see will be seeing their first Potter flick, so screw the pretense of making it so it can stand on its own even if you haven't seen any of the other Potter movies. That's rubbish. And I don't buy entirely that WB delayed the release because of the writers' strike. I think they could be going back and adding some of the omitted pensieve scenes because ALL of them are necessary to tell the story effectively. Who cares about the Lavender Brown sub-plot? And for the bozo who said these are kid's movies - you're an idiot who clearly has never read the books. I think you're confusing Harry Potter with Twilight, dung-hole.

John on Dec 20, 2008

Fuck, that looks fuckin great, Im totally watching that.

XD Reyes on Jan 4, 2009

Well I'm 23 and I have always been shut off the the Harry Potter movies by all the freaks that made fun of it all and have to say that the Harry Potters' movies have definately brought me back down to child-hood, and have enjoyed every one so far. Can't wait to see my first Harry Potter in the theatres' 😀

Josh Griffith on Jan 9, 2009

Aren't those "kids" in their mid twenties or something now? Why couldn't they keep up with making one film a year again? Very silly the time they wasted. Lord of the Rings was all made at the same time. Why couldn't the last few Harry Potter movies be made in the same way? Cuz they're having tea time every 20 minutes? I don't want to see Harry graduate Hogwarts at the age of 32. Ok Mr producer? Thanks so much...

NorthDude on Jan 19, 2009

As far as I go, I will not only watch is but buy becuase Harry Potter isn't done yet. I read all the books and the 6th is the darkest 2nd only to 7th with will be two part from what I hear. The 5th has one scene that made the movie worth more then the last and that was Dumbledore vs. Riddle/Vodermort and all the books and movies are epic but not enough to outdo The Dark Knight. And remember The Dark Knight is number 2 in its movies so it up the ante far more then most movies. This is number 6 right near 7 the final of the books so let it come. #49 the reason they didn't do it the same way as The Lord of the Rings is becuase the needed more sets from each movie and they didn't know if it would be this successful. Don't foget this is in Europe in the British Isles and Ireland not particuarly New Zealand like LOTR could. And they can't fit all the sets in the castle they used nor do the leave the castle often to begin with. I want it and I am sure I will enjoy it, it hasn't let down yet.
