First Look: Two Photos from New Harry Potter 6 Trailer!

We just got an e-mail from our friends over at BlogHogwarts alerting us that USA Today has already posted the first photo of a young Tom Riddle that will be shown in the upcoming trailer (that is due out sometime in the next 24 hours) for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Although we'll see the full trailer very soon, my own "whoa!" reaction was enough to convince me that this was worth mentioning! I haven't even seen the trailer and these two photos are already making me excited. Warner Brothers is leading up to one hell of an amazing conclusion in 2011 and Half-Blood Prince looks like it's already ramping up the energy and intensity and I can't wait! Not only do we get a first look at the young Tom Riddle, but we also get a first look at Dumbledore's firestorm that he uses in the caves.

Director David Yates said that editing is complete and the studio will soon be shown the finished product four months in advance of its theatrical debut. The biggest reveal is the young Tom Riddle, played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, who grows up to become Lord Voldemort. Hero is Ralph Fiennes' (who plays Voldemort) nephew in real life, however Yates explained that his relationship to Ralph "wasn't the primary reason for choosing him." Instead, "I went for Hero because of this wonderful haunted quality that seemed to bring Tom Riddle alive on-screen for us." This last bit should give you a chill down your spine. "Even at a very young age, Tom Riddle shows tendencies toward cruelty and maliciousness," Yates says. "And it's a very unsettling thing to see." Check out the new photos below and tune in for the trailer soon!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is again directed by David Yates, of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix previously, and written by Steve Kloves, who also wrote Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire but not Order of the Phoenix. This is the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's immensely popular series. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince arrives in theaters on November 21st this Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for the trailer as well!

Richard, to answer your question quickly, here's the thing. I HATE trailer descriptions, they're annoying especially when you'll see the footage anyway. Secondly, I'm not going to encourage watching the leaked trailer since I'm supportive of Comic-Con. Third, I mentioned it on our live blog of the Fox panel (read all that here) and all of my reactions were in there at the end. Fourth, there's not much to go off of when I'm not linking the trailer plus I just found it very hard to write up an entire on such a minimal amount of info... I know it was exciting, but we'll just have to wait... I'll mention it on my wrap up and so on, but I'm not putting together a full article this time...

Ah I just finished reading your post and it was pretty sufficient, but you should have labeled ti a little better, FOX PANEL: Wolverine, Max Payne, etc etc you know, cause I totally missed that one completely. I actually don't care if a trailer is leaked or not, I don't think it damages anything or anyone in anyway, in fact I think it makes it more exciting and I'm pretty sure I'm right about that (other then Comicon goers not getting "exclusive stuff" but hell just being there is worth it IMHO vs a cell phone video we get to see) anyway I hadn't read a thing about Wolverine (Like the biggest comic book movie at Comicon, about 100x cooler then all that Spirit stuff I see here all the time, seriously dude) then someone said the trailer is online I checked it out and wow, looks amazing, better then I could have hoped for and this is from a shaky cam. Sorry if I hijacked the post. Anyway my wife said, yey Harry Potter, there's your post back lol.

You live in your own fantasy world Darrin 🙂 Love the movies, and these two pictures are very cool. Especially the Dumbledore one. Here's hoping the trailer rocks!

so the photos look nice. not really exciting i think, except to diehard potter fans. Maybe the trailer will prove otherwise. but please, #10 Sam, Half Blood Prince was a snooze fest. I was falling asleep in the first 5 minutes. Even the epic fight scene that I had to read 3 times when I read the book was boring, and not very impressive at all. So I might agree with #9, and wish for the other director back. This series has gotten old and I'm very unlikely to see this new one. Only one I saw in theaters other than the first (which was good) was Half blood prince, and it was boring. So yeah. my two cents.
