Transporter

After breaking the news last March that The Transporter 3 would officially be coming sometime in the next few years, confirmation has arrived today via Variety that the series' star Jason Statham will be back again for the third film. Statham will be reprising his role as the indestructible delivery man Frank Martin and is gearing up to shoot for 16 weeks in Russia and France. The only bad news is that the director of the first two, Louis Leterrier, won't be back, and is instead being replaced by another more inexperienced Frenchman

French filmmaker Louis Leterrier, who directed the first two films, is instead off putting the finishing touches on The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton. His replacement is Olivier Megaton, another French director whose previous directing credits include Exit and The Red Siren in addition to working as second unit director on last year's Hitman. The news doesn't include information on whether writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen will be back for this one as well. However, Besson is attached as a producer along with Steve Chasman. Actor Francois Berleand will also reprise his role as Tarconi while Robert Knepper ("Prison Break") will join the cast.

I've got to make a confession - I've never seen either of the first two Transporter movies. I love Statham and always enjoy good action, but for some odd reason I have never had the slightest urge to watch them. I don't know what it is and I still can't get myself to watch them. As is certainly apparent with the reaction in the comments (over 50) to our original Transporter 3 news, there are numerous fans of the series that I'm sure could easily give me reasons why it's a good set of films. Maybe when this third movie comes around I'll go for a trilogy showing and experience all of it at once for the first time.

Statham previously hinted that Luc Besson was writing a script, but no other possibly story details have been revealed. We can probably expect The Transporter 3 sometime in early 2009.

Transporter 1 is a hell of a lot of fun. Transporter 2 is complete shit, with only one or two decent fights or stunts. I think Olivier Megaton should do okay; he second united Hitman, which was shit, but he specifically shot the subway fight, which was one of the film's good sequences.

I enjoyed both Transporter films. I actually have to disagree with you Gordon, Transporter 2 was actually better than the first. In my mind the fight scenes were on par with the first Transporter. The car chase scenes ROCKED. There is also something to be said for a tough as nails and sexy killer in lingerie with automatic weapons. Both films are highly stylized as is Hitman and I am sure that Transporter 3 will be as well. I like it and think you should definitely check this series out.

"Hey-zues"! Save us! Statham hasn't seen a decent script since Snatch (Italian Job was ok). The first Transporter was just alright... the second was total garbage... now we have a 3rd? I'm begging you Jason... please... just stop unless Guy Ritchie hits you and Brad up again. I won't even Netflix this one.

I haven't seen either Transporter; the idea of Jason Statham in these movies is more interesting than the movies themselves for some reason.

I watched the 1st one when it first came out and don't remember much about it, saw part of 2nd on the television. From what i can remember from the 1st one there a hell of a lot of fun to watch and out of the world stunts and crazy action. Looks like ill have to watch the 1st again and 2nd one and get ready for 3rd. Not to keen on the director i hated Hitman it was a terrible movie.

I didn't watch the 2nd Transporter, because as much as I was looking forward to the first one, the fucking TV COMMERCIALS had more violence than the film!! Yeah, the DVD is the unrated edition... it just lacks any violence or action WHATSOEVER!!! The *only* good thing about T1 - and this was in the commercial as well - was when Statham takes off his shirt and we get to see his ripped back muscles. Rawr!! Fuck T3, I'll go watch Death Race (which has him doing pullups and showing off his back muscles again - RAWR!). -ak
