After Judd Apatow (pictured above) blew up with his two films The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, he's gearing up to direct his next feature, currently untitled. Comedy champ Adam Sandler will finally joined the Apatow team in addition to Seth Rogen and Apatow's wife Leslie Mann in the film. Unfortunately not even Apatow will reveal anything about the plot, and this time he's the only writer working on the script. With how great both Virgin and Knocked Up turned out, I'm certain Apatow's next movie will instantly become one of the most anticipated upcoming comedies.
Production on Apatow's next will begin in late summer or early fall, pending the actors strike. Universal, who has housed both Virgin and Knocked Up, will also produce and distribute this. I wish we knew more about the story, but that's all there is at the moment. Apatow and Sandler did work together recently on this summer's You Don't Mess with the Zohan - Sandler and Apatow (and Robert Smigel) co-wrote the film.
I think this may be Sandler's chance to finally return to the hilarious comedic actor that he was. He's been burning out recently (need I mention I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry?) and now he's finally joining the Apatow team as the lead. I already know this is going to be great, above and beyond just the normal comedic fare we see all year when Apatow doesn't have a film playing.
Are you excited for Apatow's next movie already? What do you think the plot could be about with Sandler and Rogen involved?

Adam Sandler has burnt out, but the flame will be lit again in this movie for sure.
