Martin Campbell Helming Action Thriller Nagasaki Deadline

By now everyone should be familiar with Martin Campbell. He has saved the James Bond franchise from death twice and has brought us a handful of other great action films as well. He's currently out shooting a thrilled named Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone that sounds like it should be pretty damn good. While he's also got a couple of other projects lined up (including The Birds), Variety announces today he will also direct an action thriller titled Nagasaki Deadline. The story centers on an emotionally damaged FBI agent who must decipher historic events in a desperate race to avert a terrorist plot.
Nagasaki Deadline's screenplay was written by David and Peter Griffiths, of Collateral Damage and The Hunted previously. The Warner Brothers based Alcon Entertainment is fast-tracking this project and hopes to move it into production next year, before Campbell has a chance to move on to anything else. Campbell is a great director, I just think he needs to go out and prove that he can make a good non-Bond movie, since thats all I seem to remember him for. I hate to judge a book by its cover, but the title Nagasaki Deadline sounds pretty awesome, let's just hope it lives up to it, since the story doesn't have the same appeal.

Sounds similar to National Treasure, but they're trying to find terrorists and not treasure

Mask of Zorro is a good Martin Cambell film. Stuff like Vertical Limit is well made and thrilling at times but ultimately forgettable.
