Hellboy II: The Golden Army Trailer

A new trailer for Hellboy II: The Golden Army has just burst its way onto the web and it looks awesome! I first saw this trailer at ShoWest a few weeks ago and it blew my mind. This is the brilliant trailer that Hellboy II needs to convince everyone that it's going to be a damned fine movie that may even be better than The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. This is Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman at their finest delivering a comic book movie based on a character that may not be mainstream, but can definitely stand up there with the mainstream boys. Stop what you're doing and fire this bad boy up!

Don't forget to also check out the official website at HellboyMovie.com. The site features a whole plethora of concept art, production diaries, and more goodies for the true Hellboy fan.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is both written and directed by visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro of Blade II, Hellboy, and Pan's Labyrinth previously. The film is based off of Mike Mignola's comic book series that was first published by Dark Horse Comics in 1993. Hellboy II arrives in theaters this summer on July 11th. Mark down that day in your calendars now!

In the words of Steve Jobs: "BOOM!" Wow, awesome. That had to be at least 80% new footage. And check out all of the creature work! Amazing what del Toro managed to squeeze in, considering his budget. Can't. Frigging. Wait.

This trailer sure did look better then The Incredible Hulk trailer that was realesed some weaks ago but I don't know if Hellboy 2 can beat Iron Man, but I guess it's a matter of personal taste and marketing budgets.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying this as well! Hellboy II definitely needs as much support as possible. This won't turn into the success that it deserves to be without all of you pushing it and spreading the word. Make sure you give Hellboy II some extra emphasis when it comes to your choices this summer! 🙂

Alex Billington on Apr 4, 2008

Alex, YOU ARE RIGHT MY MAN... Hellboy II can easy be turned down by public because of TDK (6 days later!!!), and Hulk, and Iron Man and Wall-E...Ok, not Hulk, but Iron Man for sure. I see it like this: Why not see ALL OF THEM?!? ; ) First Iron Man, then Speed, Indy IV, Hulk, Wall-E, even Caspian (Ha! Ha! Just kidding), HEllboy II...finally The Dark Knight. and, it's not over: Potter 6, Mummy 3 (blah!), Bond 22 (Yeah!), NEW FINCHER MOVIE (Pitt, Blanchett)!!!

m4st4 on Apr 4, 2008

15

Mignola rocks...but combined with Del Toro, Perlman, Doug Jones, Danny Elfman (music!), perfect visual style...Man, this is my third favorite this year (after TDK and Indy ->and Indy didn't even get close to Hellboy teaser, but still is my second choice).

This does look very good and I love Del Toro but there was always something missing for me from Hellboy. I wanted to love it and even bought the three disc version but still there was just something not right. I don't know if it was because I didn't warm to the fed who's making a play for Red's girl or the clumsy head of the FBI who doesn't like Red and then stumbles along to change his mind. There was just something missing from the script. Maybe because it needed to be a 15 or 18 rather than softened to a PG or whatever it was. Either way though this looks a good improvement from the trailer. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the same feeling won't return.

Wow, my interest has certainly piqued with this trailer. I haven't seen a trailer so well put together or with such fantastic footage for a long time.

Looks awesome. The first one wasn't too great though. Surprised how big budget it is considering the first one only made a paltry $60M

When the man with the Right Hand of Doom meets the monster with super-sized fists, the man with the Right Hand of Doom wins.

Gus on Apr 4, 2008

#24 said..."Surprised how big budget it is considering the first one only made a paltry $60M" It's because when you do something as amazing and well received as Pan's Labryinth, you can pretty much pick your own projects...and damn am I glad he's doing another Hellboy! I still think Del Toro's magnum opus still lies ahead with the Lovecraft adaptation...

So many good looking movies coming out this summer but I loved Hellboy and this looks like a worthy follow up. I'm totally excited.

Damn! I'm so happy that everyone is enjoying this!! I was worried that Hellboy II was going to perform very badly, but this is giving me hope! Make sure to tell everyone you know to check this trailer out, too!

Alex Billington on Apr 9, 2008

32

I have to admit, I wasn't super excited about this movie until I saw this trailer. However, Mr. Billington, I believe that you are right about this movie. It's going to rock.

Reverend on Apr 9, 2008

33

The first trailer had me- but was being eclipsed by Iron Man, Dark Knight & the Hulk. I'm now fully sucked back in- BIG TIME. Let's just hope that the Hulk & Iron Man can keep doing the same thing, as we get more footage. (Iron Man I'm frankly saturated on. I'm just ready for the goddamn movie already!) The Dark Knight... eh, not too worried about ole' Bats. Sure he'll do just fine. Looks like Dark Horse is, as their name suggests, coming in from Left of Field w/ one WALLOP of a Knight Piece! Go Guillermo! Way to rake it in Mike Mignola!!!

Loved Hellboy I, this looks good but a little "Pan's Labyrinth" looking to me, going to miss John Hurt's character tho.... .. Oh Crap... lol

John on Apr 23, 2008

37

I enjoyed the first Hellboy and am looking forward to it. Mentioned earlier ALLOT of the movies coming out this year look great but still have doubts on a few. And I am glad that this Dark Horse Comic has turned out so well. As for the Hulk 2 I am thinking of see it, the first was not that great but the effects were, the story was not a great one but with little merit. As for the other movies coming out this year: 1. Iron Man (May 2)..I intend on seeing 2. Prince Caspian (May 16)....A for sure 3. Indiana Jone IV (May 22)....It should be good 4. The Incredible Hulk (June 13).....Debatable but maybe 5. Wall-E (June 27)....I want to see 6. Hellboy II (July 11)....A MUST 7. The Dark Knight (July 18)....CANNOT MISS 8. Harry Potter 6 (November 21)....Intent of seeing You get the idea..almost all good, Speed is not likley though.

Nice List Kronis, not bad. You might want to reconsider your number 8. I'll swop that with Hancock.

jimi on Apr 25, 2008

39

I know I must seem like a bad person because all in all I only want to se iron man the dark knight and hancock but yet again what are you people thinking I all looks so fake and unrealistic of all the super hero movies coming out this summer I am least excited about this

not impressed. first one appeared much better. but sometimes trailors are deceiving. hoping this turns out to be a great movie. hellboy kicks a$$

42

Hell Yeah! Del Toro = Greatness, Perlman IS hellboy. dat long haired dude, isnt that the villian in Blade 2? I dont know his name but he is a fantastic villian-character actor. Im a HULK fan and the new one with Norton looks like itll smash that Ang Lee turd and Favreau's Iron Man looks like the SHEEE-IT but Del Toros Hellboy 2? NO MATCH.

Cyfer1 on May 2, 2008
