MOVIE TRAILERS
Must Watch: First Full Trailer for Shane Acker's 9!

We definitely have a treat for everyone today. Focus Features has debuted the first trailer for an animated film called 9 that is being produced by Tim Burton and Wanted's Timur Bekmambetov. You need to see this. It's being described many different ways, but I like this one the best - if LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy found himself in the world of Half-Life 2. That might only mean something to gaming geeks, but either way, you still must watch this trailer. Not only is it visually astounding, but the story and experience overall look incredible! I'm sold - this is the first time I've ever been this excited for a non-Pixar animated movie!

9 is both written and directed by visionary filmmaker Shane Acker, of two previous animated shorts The Hangnail and The Astounding Talents of Mr. Grenade. The screenplay was co-written by Acker and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House). 9 was first an animated short that debuted in 2005 and earned an Oscar nomination. Providing their voices for the film are Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer, and Martin Landau. 9 will arrive in theaters on September 9th.

hhhmm....I could've gone to a test screening of this back in the summer. I regret not signing up for it now.

Simply incredible. You can see the influence of Burton in the animation style, and dark theme of it.

the words AWESOME, and VISUALLY SPECTACULAR come to mind when watching this trailer. however alex, a better game analogy would be: what happens if the world of "fallout 3" is explored by LBPs sackboy.

Wow this looks fantastic...it'll be quite the change to see Pixar competing with someone for an Oscar for once. Putting Timur and Burton together will produce something so wild that I'm sure it'll be on my favorite films list in the near future. Bravo...

9 looks effing amazing seriously. I'ts so damn cool and refreshing that more studios are starting to put out darker and more mature anime movies instead everything being the next Shrek or Madagascar. I will deffentially have to check the flick out. π

This looks awesome....but I think we're looking at the first big bomb of next fall. Unless this gets incredibly good word of mouth it's too dark to attract families with kids, and there just isn't a big enough market for non-kid friendly animated films. But I like said....I think it looks incredible. I wish it were coming out in the summer instead of the fall!

Wow this is great news. I remember watching the short film on the internet and thinking it was amazing! I know this doesn't matter, but i don't agree on the Coheed song they picked apart for the trailer. It doesn't have the right mood for it.

Really? Story= cool, Filmmakers= cool, Animation= well, I hope they spend the next nine months rendering the crap outta this. Otherwise it's just Pixar-Lite. That P.O.S. Delgo looked less video-gamey than this does.

@ 59β¦peloquin well to say the truth i am not good at reviewing since for each movie i watch, i use completely unique checklist dedicated to that movie alone π mostly i dont compare movies with others (unles they are really meant to be in the same line same genre and this is not according to my point of view but in general :D) but i can certainly say that it was certainly not Advent Children but it was fun to watch, had some cool effects and story telling sequencing the graphics were also good but not top notch the story is as usual it had some very good potential to pull serious twists but the way they have handled it was cheap, could be told from a mile away its good to see old friends from the previous games show up π oh, about the hair animations i didnt like them π the Advent children was awesome in that department too π hope its been usefull π cheers burak

I understand the relation to LittleBigPlanet, but for those insinuating that 9 is copying LBP, know that the short film has LBP beat by several years. That said, I was rivetted by the short when I saw it, and I'm ecstatic for this.

answer to the music question: the first part of the trailer uses "the captain" by the knife. not so sure about the epic guitarfest though.

I think that song just killed it. It would be way better with some dark moody soundtrack to give it that "end of the world" or "the world has been destroyed" feel.

This movie will be great, I've already watched that trailer to the point I can tell you what happens XD But I highly suggest to anybody thats a big action fan. Like meh. I like the song though, it really goes with the plot. "Sometimes fear, is the appropriate response." Bahha, awzome And go on you tube and search up 'The Animation Show' and click the one that say 'Animation show (ending)' this might be the reason he made this

This is the kind of animated moive I have been wanting to see. I will buy on DVD without hesistation and I can assure everyone it'll PG, maybe PG-13 but I doubt it. If this had came out in October of 2008 I would have bought it by now. I must see this and an determined not to miss it. This is a one-of-a-kind rare animated movie. If someone doesn't like it they should watch AVP R then campare the two.

#81, I am not too suprised by the "Frighting Sequences" part but "Language"? Thats not only a suprise but a let down. I would not expect a movie like this to get that, especially considering allot animated/CG movies (at least not the ones aiming for R or PG-13) get their ratings when they are at this caliber with CG. I will watch it or get it either way but still, not something I like to see coming.
