Must Watch: Great New Benjamin Button TV Spot

Great New Benjamin Button TV Spot

I'm just thinking how nothing lasts… and what a shame that is. Not only has it been a while since we last ran a trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but this TV spot is quite wonderful. Everyone in Hollywood is talking about this movie, everyone wants to see it, and everyone expects a phenomenal movie. But early reports have been saying it's an emotional dud and doesn't live up to all the hype. On the contrary, I could watch this 60 second TV spot over and over all day, because it seems to encapsulate everything emotional and wonderful about this movie. It's this kind of exceptional marketing that is making me, and everyone else in Hollywood, so excited to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

I really love the more sentimental and emotional aspects of this movie, as portrayed extremely well in this TV spot, but the comedic elements I saw in the footage back at Telluride are what really turned me off. I'm worried that there is too much of that comedy in the actual movie and we're just being shown the best emotional elements. I surely hope I'm wrong in the end because I want to love this movie.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is directed by visionary filmmaker David Fincher, of Se7en, The Game, Fight Club, and Zodiac previously. The screenplay was penned by Oscar winner Eric Roth, of Forrest Gump, The Horse Whisperer, Spielberg's Munich, and The Good Shepherd. This story was originally adapted from a short story written by legendary writer F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1922. Paramount will debut The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in theaters everywhere on December 25th, Christmas Day.

Looks good. I think you need the comedy to break it up, otherwise you wouldn't care about the characters...

This is from the guy that made Fight Club?!

Its a good trailer. I must say that the latest trailer to Australia is one of the very the best trailers I've seen in the last 10 years. Right up there with Titanic and The Dark Knight! It's extremely moving, powerful and beautifully done! Chuck

"...and the Oscar goes to... Image Metrics!"

numlok™ on Nov 12, 2008

Can't wait for this. It reminds me a lot of Titanic in it's beauty. I do think both both Fincher and Pitt are overdue for a meeting with Oscar. But having seen the politics that nominated Clooney and Michale Clayton 7times, I won't hold my breath.

It's not Image Metrics, it's MOVA! 😀

Tom you're 1/2 right. The animation WAS done by Image Metrics. The shapes that Image Metrics used to animate with were captured by Mova.
