Adventureland Trailer

Miramax has unveiled the trailer for Greg Mottola's Adventureland, a coming-of-age comedy about a recent college grad who takes a nowhere job at a local amusement park. The film is actually based on the real life experiences of director Greg Mottola, who got his big break last year directing Superbad. I've been looking forward to Adventureland for a while and I must say the trailer delivers. It looks exactly like the kind of wonderful coming-of-age comedy I need to warm my spirits given I've been let down by so many comedies recently. Plus I'm a big fan of Jesse Eisenberg and he looks great as this lead in this, too.

A comedy set in the summer of 1987 and centered around a recent college grad who takes a nowhere job at his local amusement park, only to find it's the perfect course to get him prepared for the real world.

Adventureland is both written and directed by filmmaker Greg Mottola, of The Daytrippers and Superbad previously. The story is based on Mottola's own experience working at the Adventureland Amusement Park in Long Island. Miramax is debuting Adventureland in theaters everywhere on April 3rd this year.

Maybe im crazy but Jessie Eisenberg seems like the poor mans Michael Cera.

Scamps on Nov 21, 2008

Man, I've been looking forward to this. Very promising. Bill Hader will most likely steal this one.

Hahaha I cant wait, looks great and Supoerbad has already skyrocketed to my top 25 favorite movies list.

The screenplay is way more dramatic than this trailer.

Max on Nov 21, 2008

Tom Brazelton on Nov 21, 2008

Of course, he just happens to find a beautiful girl in the middle of freaks. Typical hollywood.

craziemutant on Nov 21, 2008

This looks like so much fun. I definitely do not miss the old crappy jobs of my youth but man talk about good memories. I'm excited for this.

janet on Nov 21, 2008

that's not really Adventureland. Boo!!! The Adventureland the movie is based on is the one on Long Island, which sucks, but, hey, it's an amusement park. Movie looks okay, I want to see more.

Don't ever eat the corn I'm in...

ewilson131 on Nov 21, 2008

Yeah this looks great. Kind of along the lines of Waiting and Office Space. I worked at Disney for two years so a lot of this looks awfully familiar, and true to form.

ImaginaryVisionary on Nov 21, 2008

YAAA Ryan looks like the most random character in that trailer

Jaf on Nov 21, 2008

Looks fuckin retarded, yet another flick about the world of liquor, weed and a teenage boy who wants/gets to get laid, I bet Seth Rogan makes a cameo in this shit. Go fuck yourself Hollywood.

Ali on Nov 21, 2008

BILL HADER !! This seems Garden State esque. Dramatic with great supporting actors & laughs. Also Little Miss Sunshine.

Deez on Nov 21, 2008

Haha! This looks pretty funny!

The_Phantom on Nov 21, 2008

I'm with #3 MichaelBay on this one, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig are definitely going to be scene stealers in this. Like Jane Lynch in Role Models.

JL on Nov 21, 2008

Looks real bad.

Ryan on Nov 21, 2008

this looks like Waiting meets some dramatic film.

Darrin on Nov 21, 2008

I live right up the street from Adventureland here on long island. This looks fun!

big r on Nov 21, 2008

Looks pretty good. I was surprised on how Superbad wasnt as stupid as f.e. American Pies.. Pretty smart jokes (at least some :P). Cant wait for this one! But as #2 said, that Jesse dude is no Michael Cera! But tbh i thought he was Michael Cera haha ;D until i looked at the cast!

max on Nov 22, 2008

Jesse E was making movies before anyone heard of Michael Cera. He's the neurotic smart new york kid -- not the sweet goofy canadian that michael cera is. I love Jesse!!!!!

Alice on Nov 22, 2008

how do you bill hader and kristen wiig in here and not cast Andy samberg as the lead actor?!

LeeMan on Nov 22, 2008

FINALLY! martin star with a real role! i can't wait!

natasha on Nov 22, 2008

MEH'...Bill Hader looks good....plot looks good...wheres the comedy?

Al on Nov 22, 2008

craziemutant on Nov 23, 2008

I've actually worked at an amusement park in the Games department myself and this looks awfully familiar! i'll watch this when it is out. BTW, when it's out?

F.C. on Nov 24, 2008

well, F.C., the article says it'll be in theaters on March 27th, 2009.

craziemutant on Nov 24, 2008

F.C. on Nov 25, 2008
