New Wall-E Featurette - Pixar Goes Space Age
by Alex Billington

Although I've actually seen Wall-E, I can't yet talk about how amazing it was. Instead, I'll continue to share with all of you the best featurettes and videos to continue to get you in the mood for this wonderful Pixar film. This latest featurette talks about the visuals and cinematography. If you've wondered why the camera work in Wall-E looks so amazing, this featurette answers that question. Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins actually worked on the film as a visual consultant. Deakins was responsible for the great cinematography in Assassination of Jesse James, No Country for Old Men, and In the Valley of Elah last year, for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards. Impressed yet?
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL-E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.
Wall-E is both written and directed by Pixar's own Andrew Stanton, one of the first animators hired at the studio, who wrote and directed 1998's A Bug's Life and 2003's Finding Nemo. This is Pixar's tenth feature film. Wall-E lands in theaters everywhere this summer on June 27th - see you in theaters!
WOW!! This is gonna be so good... be departure from Cars... luckily. 🙂 Nice to see Roger Deakins in there - he's worked on some great movies recently and has a lovly touch.

Having Roger Deakins as a Visual Consultant will give more realistic - Dramatic look to the adventures in the movie ... But the truth about this Animation movie is .... that it is so easier to make than others animation movies who got Organic characters in them ... The good about this movie ..that there is a feeling of emotion in the character who we can just feel it in the mechanic movements in the face of Wall-E ... I really think but nor worried so much if they make another I am Legend end for this movie too ..... because the story is almost the same ... having the last man /Robot who will find some other woman/Robot on the planet and ......bla bla bla ..... and of course it is mostly for children and anything can happen ... and by the way I think I mentioned it before that Wall-E have almost the same form as E.T ... 😉 I think this movie will be nice ...but I am really waiting for Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar 2 more ...

"I think this movie will be nice …but I am really waiting for Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar 2 more …" That's a funny joke.

The scale of this movie will make up for some of the animated flops that have plagued these types of films in the past years. Wall-E is will be one of the greatest Pixar films in existence. Oscar material, for best everything! The director seems to be in love with his characters, that makes him really care for the quality of the film in the long run. Given the choice to see either Kung Fu Panda or Wall-E the choice is obivious. Anyother animated movie will not even be able to stand on the same plane of existence. No contest what so ever.

#2 "but I am really waiting for Madagascar 2 more …" Dear sir, You have lost all shreds of credibility. Thank you

@ shero, #2. you make an awful lot of assumptions in your comments, you assume that orgamics are harder to animate, you assume that the movie is aimed just at kids and you assume that it will be just like I am legend. if you knew anything about animation you would know that whilst yes organics are difficult to animate believably, to animate a robot with a design like Wall-E and make it emotionally engaging to viewers is also very difficult because it is more difficult to look at a robot and reckognise is as alive then to look at a 3d person. sceondly, to say that the movie is aimed at solely kids is preposterous, have you seen any of the 3d animation on daytime tv that is aimed at kids? It's terrible, the characters are very rigid and the animation is chunky at best. Animations by pixar and the like are given the time and love that they need and whilst there may be no blood and guts, very little if any light swearing and nearly never a mention of sex in a pixar movie that doesn't make them any less engaging to adults. A good story trumps any of the 'fun' stuff by far. whilst your criticisms might be valid, you really need to back them up with evidence.

Looks like another typical Pixar flick. Way to go keeping the status quo.

For : ramez on Jun 15, 2008 Thank you too ...as I see you are making karikator and Cartoons ... good for you ... you just attack me without any explanation !!! Please take a look at this link in IMDb : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351283/awards and tell me are these people are lost all shreds of credibility ???? For your information I am 3D Artist and I know what it takes to make a 3D animated movie like Madagascar .... Do not forget that the movie has been made for entertainment ... and it hit the target ... we are not speaking about Happy Feet ... who has been made for Oscar : Madagascar : User Rating: 6.5/10 (34,322 votes) Happy feet : User Rating: 6.7/10 (27,543 votes) If Madagascar was so bad then why there is just 0.2 points different with the movie like Happy Feet ? and why the voters for Madagascar are 7 000 more than Happy Feet ????

For : moley on Jun 15, 2008 Why my words were awful ? If you read my comment again you will find stuff that you doesn't read before ....!!! why ? I don't know ask your self : 1- Again animating organic objects 'human - animal - creatures with flesh and muscles" are harder than animating objects that have no rule of movements like robots.... When you animate a human being ... you must have rules ..the head can't turn 360 degree ... the joints human have in the body between bones have a limit of rotation ... moving legs having a direct reaction with the center of the body and the body need to take a stable position ... and like that but what robots have ???? 2- I didn't wrote just for kids ...read it again and you will know that I wrote " of course it is mostly for children and anything can happen … " ....as you see there is a word : mostly in the sentence . 3- I am again saying it will be kind of I am legend story ... and if you watched the last trailer you will knowledge that they are going to another planet that have a lot of robots ....and almost the same story .... 4- I am 3D Lead Artist for visual effects in movies "CGI" ..... " modeler -animator- particles-texture- dynamics- lighting - rendering" ....and I have a good idea about animation movies 🙂 that is why I wrote : " The good about this movie ..that there is a feeling of emotion in the character who we can just feel it in the mechanic movements in the face of Wall-E …" But I don't know why you just attack me for the first sentence ... but you are not agree with me in the second sentence !!!???? even you are repeating the same words I use for the emotions in the face of Wall- E !!!!!! and I wrote it looks like E-T and we remember how E-T was a scary creature ...but by the emotions on it's face it become a real human like . 5- I really do not watch TV and I don't know what they show to the children ... but for sure there is a lot of low 3D stuff there too ...I agree with you in that .... I gave you evidence and proves that is almost enough for you "I think ' to know that I am not just talking ...but I got experience in this job .... and if you will understand 3D language then I will give you technical explanation for everything I wrote from modeling - deforms - controls - rigging and texture ... Hope next time take my other sentences in mind and do not just attack me for one word that I am still right about it but take a general look to the comment and find out that there is points we can be agree on it too 😉 Take care

Short circuit's number 9 has a little brother , and he is ALIVE! This looks like Pixar's lamp logo at its best. Breathing life into what looks like sublime puppetry. I'll be seeing this one. Pixar thankyou for giving me my jetpack back. The force be with you all. Cheerio Chris
