Ridley Scott's Body of Lies International Trailer Debut
by Alex Billington
July 17, 2008
The first international trailer for Ridley Scott's next feature film, Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, has just debuted. Body of Lies is yet another Middle Eastern drama, this time about a former journalist who is hired by the CIA to track down an Al Qaeda leader in Jordan. Thanks in part to the brilliant mind of Ridley Scott, this looks like a step above all the typical Middle Eastern movies we're seeing nowadays. The one thing I noticed the most - Scott has done a great job of making both DiCaprio and Crowe look like I've never seen them before! Scott's Black Hawk Down was a fantastic modern war movie and now I'm wondering whether his follow-up to American Gangster will be any good or if he's still stuck in a mediocre slump. Thoughts on Body of Lies?
Watch the first trailer for Body of Lies:
Body of Lies is directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, of everything from Alien to Blade Runner to Gladiator to Black Hawk Down to Kingdom of Heaven American Gangster. The script was written by Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan, of Kingdom of Heaven and The Departed, and is based off of the book of the same name written by David Ignatius. Warner Brothers will release Body of Lies in theaters everywhere on October 10th this fall.

i dunno...looks like it's all talk and little action. and it didn't appear to be a suspenseful or dramatic thriller. the tone of the movie just didn't appeal to me. but i'm sure it'll be good nonetheless with three stars (ridley included) spearheading the film.

Box Office Gold (or at least should be) This will end up and Oscar contender.

Ridley is losing it. Since that gladiator flick. He´s still good, but he used to be a master. Anyway, I´ll be there.

Damn...I thought Russell Crowe would get first billing for sure. Shows how big of a star Dicaprio is that he gets first billing over an Oscar Winner.

Christ... Leo looks like he's just playing a weaker version of Billy Costigan. We'll see, though.

Ridley's still an elite director. They all can't be "Gladiator" & "Black Hawk Down" which are arguably (everything is arguable) 2 of the top ten action films of all time. That is an impossible standard to live up to. The story for "Body Of Lies" looks solid & if the action is there I might be there as well.

Looks more like a Tony Scott film than a Ridley Scott film.

You know Ridley has done a slew of movies some great some not so great. What makes him a great film maker is that he is a story driven director. He does not deal in cinematic cliche`. He does not have a definable style. I believe he is passionate about Middle Eastern affairs right now and overall is trying to put out an opinion. Everyone realize that this same guy not only did Gladiator but along time ago did Legend. Now that's contrast to extreme to assimilate an opinion on the 1:15 seconds we just saw there. I'm sure this will be well filmed and poignant

Matt Suhu, you maybe just want to go watch two hobo's fighting over a squirell, and leave the real movies to the grown folk. This looks pretty cool.

I have made a petition for Carice van Houten Carice van Houten was suppose to be in the film âBody of Liesâ playing Leonardo DiCaprioâs wife âGretchenâ but people who went to see the pre-screening of the movie said that she was no where in the movie. Only mentioned by the main character once. The next thing that had happened was whenever the MPAA ratings came out for Body of Lies and I figured that since her character was suppose to be a sex-obsessed wife that the MPAA ratings would say something like âSexual content/Nudityâ or something like that, but it didnât and Carice had mentioned in a interview that she did have to French kiss Mr.DiCaprio and do a graphic love scene with him. Finally, whenever the movie trailer came out and the credits were shown at the end, her name was nowhere to be seen. Because of all of this. It has made several of her fans very upset that they will not get to see her in this movie. So for her fans I have made a petition for them to sign saying that we want her back in the movie. Its not too late for them to add her scenes back in, So please sign this petition for her. Thanks http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/carice-van-houten-in-body-of-lies

From the first time, when going through the movie, felt it was well made. Leonardo DiCaprio had done his part extremely at his best. Body of Lies has his own vision of explanation. Wonderful to watch till the end unlike other war movies it is running slowly and made it mark with grate peace of directing.
