Sylvain White Directing Adaptation of Vertigo's The Losers

The Losers

From Stomp the Yard to The Losers? Director Sylvain White, who is leveraging the success of Stomp the Yard in unimaginable ways, is in final negations to direct an adaptation of Vertigo's The Losers. The comic, first published in the 1970's and again in 2002, follows a highly trained and eclectic Special Ops team that is set up, betrayed and left for dead. They then go on a quest to find who sold them out and why, righting wrongs they encounter along the way. Originally Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt scripted this project for Tim Story (of Fantastic Four fame) to direct, but it has since fallen into White's hands.

The project is finally moving forward with Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment developing and White set to helm. In addition to The Losers, White is also attached to direct Paul W.S. Anderson's Castlevania and Frank Miller's Ronin, but we're not sure which one he'll take on first. While this sounds like a very cool comic book, I'm not too keen on White as the director. I never even saw Stomp the Yard, so this guy has yet to prove himself. Can he really jump into big budget comic book adaptations after directing one dancing movie? I certainly hope so, or else this project is doomed to fail just like the Fantastic Four series.

So DC Comics will have nothing to do with this movie? Don't they have the rights to it? Just wondering.

Also, I'm wondering if this will be set as a WWII comic as it originally was.

Maybe you should watch stomp the yard before you judge. It made 54 million opening weekend. The top movie in the country for weeks and is listed in the top grossing movies of all time. Its about stomping and there is a story. It is not just a dance movie. He will do great!
