The X-Files: I Want to Believe Trailer

The very first trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe has finally arrived! The buzz for this movie is definitely going to pick up with this trailer. It really doesn't reveal much, but still the perfect amount to start up discussion surrounding what the heck actually happens. Was that Daniel Craig I saw? No, it was just Callum Keith Rennie… I have a good feeling most of this movie is going to be centered around that frozen lake that the FBI is searching on. Doesn't it seem like Mulder and Scully are standing there at the end when they both turn and look at "something"? Hey X-Files fans makes sure you take a look at this trailer and chime in with your thoughts below! Are you excited to finally see Mulder and Scully return?

Thanks to Yahoo for debuting the trailer while we wait for the official site,, to update with their own high definition version for everyone to enjoy.

Not an X-Files fan, but I might check it out.

Still not sure how they will top the fact they found actual aliens in the last movie, which makes Skully look an ass when she doesn't believe Mulder now...But I will probably see it sometime

interloper on May 12, 2008

this will be a great movie!!!

Perturabo on May 12, 2008

Bunch of people running. Crappy trailer.

Discateia on May 12, 2008

SO EXCITED. and was that a split second lead in to a scully-mulder kiss I saw, too?

ohsamma on May 12, 2008

This is not a very good trailer but i am a great fan of the series so i can't wait.

aposva on May 12, 2008

I am very excited for Mulder and Scully to return! I grew up on the TV series and I always wanted to see another movie. I can't wait!

Dan Geer on May 12, 2008

Brilliant trailer! What an amazing trailer!!!!!!!!This looks absolutely brilliant, I can't wait!!!Duchovny looks hot and so does Gillian-what the hell is she doing that she looks the same goddamn age!!!!!! ROLL ON JULY 25TH!!!

Diana Fowley on May 12, 2008

oh my goodness, what the heck is xzibit doing in this movie.. this is a big mistake!!!!!

black on May 12, 2008

i'm a huge X-Files fan, but i hate Xzibit!!!!

DDOT3 on May 12, 2008

So what the hell is this about? Just a girl dying? Not about aliens?

Alex on May 12, 2008

yea what the hells up with xzibit, did they have no budget for this film? $5 could have got you a better actor off the street, hope hes not in too much of the film other than that looks good

harrison on May 12, 2008

Callum Keith Rennie's appearance is the only thing that has me even slightly excited for this movie.

Vee on May 12, 2008

You know, just the other day I was thinking to myself, "What the world needs now is another film featuring Xzibit in a supporting role." Our prayers have been answered. Hazzah!

Nthngmn on May 12, 2008

looks alright but could they top the first film. i highly doubt.the first one was too amazing.

Darrin on May 12, 2008

I love the idea behind this movie. The last movie was worked into the plot of the show and they had to make that work. This is a standalone project, and I really miss that show. I was pretty young when it was out, but it was full of so many cool stories and characters.

DCompose on May 12, 2008

erm.... yeah. that's about all i can say. not really impressed with the trailer. hope it's good. still probably see it in theater.

Garrett.king on May 12, 2008

The Thing 2, maybe?

Scorpio on May 12, 2008

Hell yeah! It's Mulder & Scully! This is going to be awesome. Too many films today give away the whole plot in the trailer...I'm glad that this has a lot of mystery to it. And I think it's funny that some people are saying that it's not good or they're unimpressed but that they're still going to go see it in theatres. Obviously, it's not that bad, is it? It's going to be great!

C.squared on May 12, 2008

The missing girl is prolly very special. a reason why a bunch of fbi agents are looking for her. include mulder and scully on it too!

aj on May 12, 2008

haha that did look like Daniel Craig at 00:56 ..

Rigo on May 12, 2008

@#21 I can't remember the actors name, but he plays Leoben in Battlestar Galactica on SciFi channel. Damn good actor too. Hopefully he & Xzibit will cancel each other out.

jason_md2020 on May 12, 2008

I want to believe... that this movie won't suck as much as the last one did. I'm a huge fan of the show, but the last movie was erm, bad. Hopefully doing a stand-alone, monster-of-the-week plot will help. Of course, even if it turns out to be horrible, I'll still see it--excited about more X-Files!

Katie on May 12, 2008

Looks WAY better than I thought it would... It that the guy from "Pimp My Ride" in those scenes as the officer?

Djo Fortunado on May 12, 2008

ahhhh the SMOKING MAN............j/k Looks like a streamer πŸ™

SHANE D on May 12, 2008

Love Billy Connolly!

halans on May 12, 2008

That trailed didn't say shit, other than there is another movie coming. It's been so long I don't really even care what the plot is about. As long as they make Scully hot, and Mulder stops being such a homo and taps it, then I'll call it a winner.

PENIX on May 12, 2008

Fkin aye Billy Connolly!! Excellent :p

mallchin on May 12, 2008

When I first heard about this, I was a little concerned. The first movie was...okay. The series itself should have closed shop when Duchovny left it. I was a raging X-Phile until the series jumped the shark with Mulder's disappearance. I didn't even bother with the finale. After seeing this trailer, I am so ready to see this movie. It looks like the best of both worlds -- Mulder and Scully's keen detective work with serial killers...and a hint of the unknown. I'm so there. So there.

Tee Morris on May 12, 2008

the dark knight will murder this in its 2nd week it looks fucking shit

jono on May 12, 2008

Xzibit is in it? Now I gotta see it.

Jake on May 12, 2008

AH!! I fkin hate/love that music it's the only thing to ever be able to creep me out/get my heart racing. Ha ha that guy does look like Craig. Yesss Billy Connolly I lov'im, but he kinda looked like the scientist from Independence Day...err actually he looked like him alot

silver on May 12, 2008

I could care less what about any negative comments about this trailer... At this very moment, my blood is pumping, my senses are soaring and I cannot wait for July 25th to get here! This film is like getting my best friends back - here are 2 characters so deeply rooted in popular culter that most people don't even realize what this show did to establish quality televison today. The X-Files: I Want To Believe is set to be a fabulous homecoming for Mulder and Scully, a new stage for the unexplained and will hopefully hook another generation into the magic and wonder of the former series. Clearly, many people posting here did not watch the series through to the end - which is a shame. Much was explained and expanded on in those later years (even without Duchovny,) and I, for one, am overjoyed to soon learn what these characters have been up to these past years. As a fanfic writer and fangirl, there is nothing more important happening this summer than this movie!

Kate on May 12, 2008

Looks like a traditional Ghost story, perhaps with an International Espionage angle to it to get the FBI's attention. Didn't see Skinner though.. so it makes me feel the scope of the cast is more narrowly focused.. which could make for a really good plot. Pandering to everyone's screen time can tend to dilute the story and make me wonder why I'm in the theatre.. a reunuion? or a good story. I also got the feeling that Mulder might not be FBI anymore.. a lone gunman or just traditonal loner? Perhaps estranged from Scully or the Ex? (No pun intended.. really.. none.. well ok maybe a little..;-)

John Willis on May 12, 2008

I neversaw the series or the movie but I am pretty psyched. And did it sa TM next to the X-Files title part of it :)? that's a first for me atleast.

Ryan on May 12, 2008

I agree with Discetia, it does show a lot of people running around. However, I think that was deliberate. I think that they really want to keep us in the dark as much as possible until the movie is in theaters. I am glad. Often trailers show so much that you might as well not watch the movie. Also I think I saw a Mulder Scully kiss!!!!

Laurie on May 12, 2008

Yes Yes Yes, the time has arrived. I want this movie to SLAY! I was hoping they go with the Mythology route, but if this is what the movie needs to be for better appeal, let it rip, this movie looks solid. I hope X-File nation is reborn. I have faith in the writers, and scripting, X-Files has allways been strong in that department, it will make the Xzibit angst and any other suspect talent. I hope is FOX still holding the $$$ reigns? If so or if not, i hope they push this film. Morning, and afternoon talk varieties, and MTV for the youngens, and late night. I want to see more films from Dana & FOX. Get your friends hyped.

Alex on May 12, 2008

He may not be in the trailer, but Mitch Peleggi, "Skinner," is in the film. Who can say how much? It's hard to know much based on the trailer, as all we know is there is a girl, missing, and lots of ice and snow. What's the significance of the girl? I don't know, and I hope any future trailers won't spoil it either. Imagine going to a theater and watching a movie where you don't already know half the plot! It's been a long time. I'm also glad that this isn't a "mythology" story, as by the end of the series there was so much material there, some of it a bit convoluted in my opinion or at least not tightly woven, that it tended to drag down the pacing, and would do so doubly if they had to refresh our memories after all of these years. Anyway, I'm excited.

Kevin on May 12, 2008

Also, to all of you excited about a Mulder, Scully kiss..wasn't that angle explored pretty thoroughly by series end?

Kevin on May 12, 2008

I totally agree with Kate, way too many people gave up on the series. I discovered the show on DVD so I was swept up in all the controversy and seasons 7 - 9 had many great moments and episodes. I think the trailer is amazing but I'm biased, I would go see this it was an existing episode with a few new scenes.

justin on May 12, 2008

Where the hell are the flashlights?

Aulus on May 12, 2008

Hold on a sec! Billy Connolly is in this?!?!? That's all anyone needed to tell me. I'm so there! Oh yeah, the trailer looked awesome!

Ken Evans on May 12, 2008

I found this synopsis that is spposed to be from the pcoming novelization of the movie, it was posted on wikipedia before but was taken down by request from 20th Century Fox, as the page states this might just be bogus but I think it correspond very well with the trailer. When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest's questionable β€œvisions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women's disappearance. It's a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere...and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!"

Edvard on May 13, 2008

Dr.Duvel on May 13, 2008

it looks cool on the trailer, but no story line will ever be good enough to match the alien mythology the whole 9 year running show and first movie were based on. nevertheless, i would like to ask a more obvious question: Where the hell are Dogget and Reyes. They gave the show a new air for its two last seasons and established themselves as powerful characters. why aren't they in the movie.

julian on May 13, 2008

if you freeze the frame when they look at that figure in the ice, it kinda looks like Scully.

Al on May 13, 2008

OMG!!! I stayed up until 1 in the morning for this trailer to come out and I'm just so happy and thrilled its here. I've been a die hard fan since the first movie came out and cannot be happier they are making this one. Everyone get everyone you know to see this movie because if it does well in the Box Office...CC wants to make another one!!!!!!!!!OMGomgOmgOmG *faints*.....

Agt. Woods on May 13, 2008

Can anyone tell me which film this trailer is running with, in theatres? I don't care abut the current film - I just want to sit ina theatre and see this trailer on the big screen!!! Oh, and I'm in Canada - if that helps? And Edvard - thanks for the synopsis... Excellent and not at all spoiler-y... Just enough to wet the appetite πŸ™‚ A day later and I think I've watched this 50 times already and am still teary-eyed-happy to see it. Oh and in response to there having been enough of the Mulder/Scully kissy stuff in the last years of the show - NO WAY - not nearly enough... CC has at least gotta through us shippers a wee bone πŸ™‚

Kate on May 13, 2008

Ha, I wasn't saying there had been enough kissy stuff, just wondering at the surprise..

Kevin on May 13, 2008

Loved the trailer!!! Can't wait to see the movie. Dosen't FOX on X-files and Alien series err..., movies? When are they gonna cross over (Dreams of Mulder trying to be shut down for discovering the Alien embryo from the Aleins Movies), πŸ™‚ Ahhhh!!! Cant wait till the movie comes out. X-Files FOREVER!!!

I've been so wrapped up in Torchwood that I forgot about The X-Files. Wish my hair would grow as long as Scully's. . .

This is about 10 years too late. Who cares at this point, really? What we really want is a Brisco movie. And where are The Lone Gunmen? And why does Mulder look like Mini-me?

Ogre on May 14, 2008

Ogre-YOU are the only person who doesn't care!So go somewhere else and keep on not caring! As for the rest of us, we'll be waiting with baited breath for this movie.I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 years too late my ass.So what is Indy 4?And Iron Man!And the Incredible Hulk for Chrissakes? If your argument against this movie is based on the amount of time it's been off the air, then this movie is gonna be fucking huge! Who the hell wants to see a 65 yr old archaeologist wheeze his way through a movie? And as for Brisco..Brisco who?

Diana Fowley on May 14, 2008

Raakhee on May 14, 2008

The trailer is alright. I am pumped to see this as I grew up with the show and loved the first movie as well. They should have brought it out a few years earlier though as I believe more people would have seen it. Now it will only be the huge fans which will not be enough for them to make a third. Oh well a boy can dream.

birdman on May 14, 2008

Yeah it's me. I am back from the grave. You are going down Mulder. You hear me? You cannot hide anymore!!!

Alex Krychek on May 14, 2008

#58: brings some chilling memories. hope there's real closure this time around.

egghub on May 14, 2008

that trailer actually sucked, they didn't hype this enough, hopefully the story makes up for it.

zig a licious on May 15, 2008

they say this is a stand alone movie. has nothing to do with the timeline of the show. it doesnt look like a sequal to fight the future. this has its own plot. looks amazing!

I am so excited, not only to hear that there is a film being released NEXT month that I knew absolutely nothing about, (i'm still confused about that have they been hiding it???) I am also extremely excited to hear the theme tune once more and it sent shivers up my spine. I'm so glad that Mulder is BACK! right where he should be not that other idiot (sorry but you were RUBBISH!). I am an avid fan of X-files (can you tell) and cannot wait for it's release. My other half and I have been talking about this film all year. Our relationship was new when we began watching the X-Files together, so we always get stoked about seeing Mulder and Scully reunited. We will be counting down the days after the 4th of July, and will be at the theatre when it opens locally. I don't know if it will be good, but I want to believe it will be πŸ˜‰

Hako on Jun 16, 2008

Obviously I don't know much about it but I'm sure it will be amazing. I am a huge fan of the show and have been waiting for this movie to come out. I don't like the fact that xzibit is on it but I'm sure it will be a good movie. See you niggas later

Eleazar Freyre on Jun 25, 2008

I want to believe...that the movie doesn't suck as bad as the trailer. Everything looks really low budget made. And that xzibit thing is a biiig mistake

Thank God the wait is over! This movie has me ecstatic. I remember when the best thing about Sundays was the fact that from 8-9 I would turn off the lights cellphone etc. and plunge myself into the world of Chris Carter and agents Mulder and Scully. That happiness has returned back to me with just a small trailer, so I know this movie will be a blockbuster and catalyst for more to come. -J A Truth Fan
