Bruce Campbell Says Spider-Man 4 Shooting in January?
Bruce Campbell is certainly a novelty in the Spider-Man franchise. In each film he's played a character who has somehow defeated the unbeatable Spider-Man (something which no other villain can seem to do). The actor's charisma and close relationship with director Sam Raimi pretty much guarantees his involvement in the upcoming sequels, so when Campbell dishes out some info, we should probably be listening. This time Access Hollywood caught up with Campbell and found out from him that not only is his role in Spider-Man 4 considered to be a "major one," but apparently the sequel will begin shooting in January of 2010.
Of course there's plenty of speculation about Campbell potentially taking on the role of a villain (Mysterio seems to be the most popular), but with all the craziness that's been going on hiring writer after writer for the forthcoming sequel, who really knows what's going on with the script. There's a chance they could even have a bigger role for Campbell set up in the fourth sequel to become a villain in either the fifth or sixth installments. Or maybe Campbell himself could simply be hyping it up (afterall he is out promoting his role in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) so for now I think we'll just have to take this with a grain of salt and wait for some official word from Raimi or Sony (hopefully). Are you excited for Campbell's return?
Bruce Campbell is the greatest. Wise casting choice by the Burn Notice team. Anyways in regards to Spider-man, as long as they use at least 2 prominent villains from Amazing Spider-man #1-100, I will be more than happy. And yes, I would be fine with ol' Bruce playing a lead villain (as long as it isn't Kraven the Hunter).
Peter Parker on Sep 13, 2009
yeah he's great in Burn Notice. hope they have a decent script for Spiderman 4

J.K. Simmons, Willem Defoe and Bruce Campbell have been the only decent casting choices in the Spiderman movies and the more we see of Campbell, the better the movies will become.

I'd love to see Bruce Campbell play the roll of Electro. Since his character in all three films could be explained to be the same guy (a guy, of course, that just can't hold down a job), then turning into a pseudo-super villain would add a nice bit of meat to the character. Electro, of course, is always regarded by Spider-man as one of his lesser foes, which could prove to be a very funny dynamic between the two should Campbell be cast. Of course, all of the above is speculation. But more Bruce Campbell in any role is always a good thing! Not that this makes any more excited for SM4.

The third film missed the mark so completely that I'm very hesitant to get worked up about a 4th installment. I will definitely follow the development, of the film; but I'm not going to get too excited about it yet.

I love me some Bruce Campbell. I look forward to it.

Pretty sure if he plays a villain he'll play Mysterio. He's played a different character in each movie, which could be perceived as acting in different roles and one of these characters even worked in a theater.

Bruce Campbell for president!

Now hold on now Brian (#3), James Franco is a great actor and has been one of the only high spots in Spiderman

yea brian you forgot alfred molina as well.

Great news! It would be really awesome to see Bruce Campbell playing Chameleon (although Mysterio wouldn't be bad too). He's appeared in all 3 "Spider-Man" flicks as a different character and that he'd be zeroing in on Peter Parker! There are countless possibilities in that this flick, if done right, could be epic and will help us forgive Raimi and Co. for "Spider-Man 3". 🙂

I think Bruce Campbell as the chameleon is ana wesome idea!!! I also am praying for Gerard Butler as Kraven, Jim Carrey as Carnage, and Lebron James to make a cameo as Blade lol

Personally, I think that the two villains in Spiderman 4 should be the lizard (Dr. Connors being already established) and maybe Morbius since the two villains deal with nearly the same thing. Adding Morbius could make the fourth movie a bit darker which I think would work because the other films have seemed a bit too cartoonish for me.

Would love to see BC playing Mysterio. Out of work actor/special effects master? Hence the three different appearances. Would be godly.
Quentin Beck, a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job, but realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain.
I just had to post this. Anyone who doesn't think BC would be perfect for this is kidding themselves.

Ah, c'mon Number 9 ... Franco is not in the same class as Simmons, Defoe and Campbell ..Maybe not even in the same school ...He's too wooden and scripted in all his movies. But Number 10, you are absolutely right about Molina ... He totally slipped my mind; Damn you Topher Grace!

How exactly did Bruce Campbell's characters "defeat" Spider-Man in the first and third movies? In the first movie he refused to use Pete's name, instead bestowing him with "Spider-man"--hardly a defeat. And in the third movie he actually did Parker a huge favor, only messing it up because of Pete's fizzling relationship with MJ. Only in 2 did he really defeat Peter by refusing him access to the theater.

#17 wtf was wrong with topher grace's performance? i think he did really well for the role he was given, it's not like they tried to give venom a real part in the movie to begin with, anyway, based on the progression of the series, it only makes sense that the sinister six be the villains for the next movie, that way they can make it 4hrs long with no back story for any of the villains and waste even more of the great villains created by marvel.

I think Mysterio is pry the best fit for Campbell. Id love to see Shocker, Electro, Rhino, and Vulture, but doesnt seem to fit those roles. And no way for Kraven.
yayaya on Sep 14, 2009
this movie is going to be awesome
MoneyShot on Sep 14, 2009
I fear the 4th Spider-man movie will be a sham. Venom in the 3rd one was weakly done, common Foreman for the role. It should have been someone who portrays the massive appeal of Venom, maybe Mickey Rourke would have made a better Venom. With that said I hope who ever writes the script gets a good one in. A possible super villain Id like to see is the Lizard or Carnage.
Madnezz344 on Sep 14, 2009
After the ruining of Venom I hope they just leave Bruce as a small part actor and not force him into a big garbage role.
Vold on Sep 14, 2009
@ # 12 jim carry should play carnage that would be amazing!

only one problem with jim carrey is he doesn't like coming back for sequels playing the same character-so yeah >_<

This guy never defeated Spider-Man. He defeated Peter Parker. Which is pretty much the equivalent of slapping a baby.

i think that bruce campbell will make a great mysterio villan in spider-man 4 the movie film in january , this will be cool, i love this, but the movie needs more characters, like angellia jolie as scream the symbiote, and with topher grace venom, and with peter parker's friend ezekiel, and with jim carrey cletus cassidy carnage, and with peter parker's parents as the serial killers, and in the movie i want tails miles prower tailsko, to be in it, and with sonic the hedgehog female sonic, to be in the movie, too,... tell that to mister sam rami , he'll love this, and with micheal clarke duncan the kingpin, tell rami to film it in new york city, new york, will eric bana bruce banner the incredible hulk, thanks, guys, says, brandin lee detroy from desoto, texas,
