Alan Cumming, Zach Galifianakis, Juno Temple

Casting Tidbits Activate! First up, THR reports that Zach Galifianakis is continuing his hot hiring streak, but this time only his voice will be needed as he's entered negotiations to provide the voice for Humpty Dumpty in the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots at DreamWorks Animation. He joins Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek in a story about the events leading up to the feline assassin's first meeting with Shrek in the second installment of the DreamWorks franchise. Chris Miller (Shrek the Third) will be directing from Tom Wheeler's script, but I'm hoping that there's still some remnants of Brian Lynch's earlier draft of the script.

Red
Just yesterday Helen Mirren joined up with Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis in the Robert Schwentke directed espionage thriller, and today THR's Heat Vision reports John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) and Mary-Louise Parker (of Showtime's "Weeds") are also set to join them. Reilly will play a retired CIA agent who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him while Parker would play the love interest who becomes embroiled with Willis' character's struggle to stay alive. It's shaping up to be a solid flick, and I think it's safe to say that Bruce Willis will be the one seeing dead people this time.

Burlesque
Variety has announced that the versatile Alan Cumming will be the last bit of casting in this Steve Antin written and directed, Cabaret-inspired musical. He joins Christina Aguilera, Cher, Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), and Julianne Hough in the story of a small-town girl from Iowa who moves to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of singing. But she might get more than she bargained for when she gets caught up in a neo-burlesque club. Cumming will be the club's gender-bending host and master of ceremonies while Aguilera and Hough will be singers doing their best to pretend they can act.

Hemingway and Fuentes
Quite the cast for this Ernest Hemingway focused film is being assembled as Variety reports Anthony Hopkins and Annette Bening will star alongside Andy Garcia, who is not only directing the film but also co-wrote the screenplay with Hilary Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway. The drama chronicles the two decades that Hemingway spent in Cuba fishing with his best friend, Gregorio Fuentes where the author fell in love with a beautiful Italian girl who inspired him to write "The Old Man and the Sea." Hopkins will be stepping up to portray Hemingway while Garcia will play Fuentes, and Bening will be the author's third wife, Mary Welsh Hemingway. As a tribute to Hemingway, I hope the whole story is written as subtext.

Dirty Girl
Juno Temple (Year One), Sally Hawkins (An Education), William H. Macy (Thank You for Smoking) and Lisa Kudrow (P.S. I Love You) may all be putting on their dancing shoes soon as THR reports that all four of them are joining this directorial debut from Broadway choreographer turned director Abe Sylvia. The film tells the story of a high school tramp (Temple) who runs away with the school's gay, fat kid in his homophobic dad's stolen car. Hawkins will play Temple's hopeless "reformed slut" mother Sue-Ann, while Macy is Sue Ann's easily shocked Mormon fiance, and Kudrow stars as the gay fat kid's mousy repressed mother. Sounds like they need to get the cast of Fox's "Glee" in this for a big delightfully gay musical romp.

That's all the Casting Tidbits we've got for right now. Stay tuned for more casting updates to come!

How about instead of William H Macy (Thank you for smoking),change it to William H Macy (Fargo) which is obviously his best role.
