Charlie Day and Christina Applegate Join Going the Distance

If there is one romantic comedy you should be on the look out for, it's the upcoming Going the Distance. We already know that it'll star Drew Barrymore and Justin Long and is being directed by American Teen director Nanette Burstein. Joining the cast are Charlie Day, one of the stars and creators of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and actress Christina Applegate, who was last seen on "Samantha Who?". The story by first-time writer Geoff LaTulippe follows a couple (Barrymore and Long) trying to maintain a long-distance relationship. Day is playing Long's best friend while Applegate will play Barrymore's sister.
If you're an avid fan of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", you might already know that not many of its stars have "made the jump" to movies just yet. Charlie Day was only able to do so this time by coordinating his schedule to work around the shoot for this movie, since "Philadelphia" is in the middle of shooting its fifth season as we speak. Going the Distance was originally going to be shot this year and be released next February, but Warner Brothers gave that spot to Valentine's Day instead, appropriately so. Subsequently, Going the Distance will get released sometime later next year. We'll keep you updated on its development!

I don't know how I feel about this. Just sounds like it's going to be "he's not that into you" but with Long in the main role. But I do think Charlie's role in IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY is the funniest thing that's ever hit TV, so maybe this film will be awesome. Would love to see Boldly Going Nowhere go ... well, go somewhere (mainly into production) before this though. Also, I wonder if Charlie hopped on this because it is actually a good role for him or if it's just the first spot in film he could pick up.

If this means someday we'll have an "Always Sunny" Movie, or at least a movie written by the Gang, starring the Gang- then I'm all for it. I met Mack & Dierdre a few weeks ago at one of my gigs, and they were a real class act. I wanted to slobber her sensitive parts, sure, but while they were playing "Connect Four" at the Raven Lounge, I was somehow compelled to keep things ... classy.

I LOVE "Always sunny"! I can't wait for the new season, and Charlie is definitely my favorite with his high pitched voice, and his incredible tantrums. He's so fucking hilarious. xD I don't care how good or bad this movie is gonna be, I will watch it just to see Charlie.

I concur. 95% of people that go to see this are going to be drawn in simply by the fact that Charlie's in it. Did somebody say Dayman?

Don't forget Glenn Howerton who has been in the Strangers and both Crank movie. But Charlie Day is the man. The movie may suck but "He's gonna go America All over their Ass-es!!!"
