Check Out This Scene from Shane Acker's 9 Animated Movie

Although I certainly love Pixar, one other animated movie I'm really looking forward to seeing this year is Shane Acker's 9, the post-apocalyptic ragdoll movie that we debuted a great trailer for back in December. Since that trailer hit, not much else has been released publicly, although I did see an extended clip at WonderCon (but that was exclusively shown there). However, MTV has debuted a full clip from 9 today, and I'm breaking my own rules to bring this to you, mainly because I have such high hopes for it and I want to continue building some great buzz. If you're interested in this movie at all, then check it out below!

Watch the full scene from Shane Acker's 9:

You can also watch this full clip from 9 in High Definition over on MTV

9 is both written and directed by visionary filmmaker Shane Acker, of two previous animated shorts The Hangnail and The Astounding Talents of Mr. Grenade. The screenplay was co-written by Acker and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House). 9 was first an animated short that debuted in 2005 and earned an Oscar nomination. Providing their voices for the film are Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer, and Martin Landau. 9 will arrive in theaters on September 9th.

Shane Acker a legend already?? on Apr 19, 2009

Ooooooh scary. That was really great. Got my hart racing there. I'm going to look for the short now.

scotty on Apr 19, 2009

Wow, I'm not sure what that was! But I like it!

Bryanmakeup on Apr 19, 2009

It looks pretty interesting. The first trailer hadn't sold me, but this short did. Its like watching a Tool video that makes sense, heh.

Works fine now! Wow that looks like something special! The attention to detail and the pacing are very impressive. Look forward to seeing it.

I thought the trailer was awesome. This clip is great too. I think the whole concept of the film (post-apocalyptic ragdoll action-adventure) is quite unique and I am really looking forward to seeing it. I just hope the screenplay and the voicing does not let me down! For some weird reason, the soundtrack reminded me of The Dark Knight. You know; full of anticipation and excitement.

chris on Apr 19, 2009

That looks sweet.... more than just a "touch" of little big planet, tho.

dRailer on Apr 19, 2009

man, i think this looks awesome! if they don't dumb this down with fart jokes and stupid dialogue to appeal to the masses (like most movies do) then i think this could be a really cool and original movie i don't know why producers and directors can't make smart "thinking man's movies" even for kids...but i'm afraid they are few and far between this one looks like it has a ton of potential!

darthwhitey on Apr 19, 2009

I can't wait for this, I'm excited for this so much, this clip just made me want to see it more.

Curtis on Apr 19, 2009

I LOVED the trailer immensely, so seeing an actual scene from the film really work well makes this one of my most anticipated for 2009, along with Avatar, Where the Wild Things Are, Sherlock Holmes, and Terminator Salvation.

Andrew on Apr 19, 2009

SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Already was sold but now I'm sold again!

Xerxex on Apr 19, 2009

THE NEWS ------------- Woody Harrelson attcked a paparazzo Thursday at New York’s LaGuardia airpot, smashing the TMZ photog’s camera. He later issued an apology stating: “I wrapped a movie called `Zombieland,’ in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character,” Harrelson said. “With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie.” ---------------------------------------------------- hahaha "who i Quite Understandably mistook for a zombie"?... That's the best reason to attack anyone I've ever heard of!

TO those who haven't seen the original 9 short film. Go see it now. As in look for it right now you will be amazed. I saw the clip about a year or two ago and I have forwarded it to so many people it's scary. I have High hopes for this movie and hope that this launches Shane into the big leagues.

geneguru on Apr 20, 2009

Sadly this movie will probably flop in the box office. it has no target audience pretty much except for teenage boys. its not broad enough.

PJ H on Apr 20, 2009

Here is the link for the original short. Not HD though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE4qHy0RruA&feature=related

Drisc87 on Apr 21, 2009

this looks amazing

sam on Apr 21, 2009

ok a few things. this went into production waaaay before littlebigplanet. (both the short, and the movie) i agree with pretty much everyone. it. looks. amazing. this clip is the most truly frightening, soul stirring, eyepopping, mouthdropping thing ive seen in a long time. a very long time. when i saw the short in 05 i was dissapointed. it seemed pointless, a nd it was so dark you couldnt hardly see a thing. when i heard about a 9 movie, i wasnt very optimistic about it. after seeing this clip, its on my must see list. cant wait!

george on May 25, 2009

ok 2 more things, 3 actually. after watching this about 500 times (im exagerating of course) i realized i still didnt know what this movie was about (post a synopsis if you can) i also realized how much i wanted to buy the soundtrack. and if anyone is curious, here is the site for the movie http://9themovie.com/splash/ not much is there now but there soon will be. i hope.
