Christensen, Newton, Leguizamo in Vanishing on Seventh Street

Hayden Christensen - Thandie Newton - John Leguizamo

The Machinist and Transsiberian director Brad Anderson will start shooting his next feature in October called Vanishing on Seventh Street. The screenplay, co-written by Anderson and Anthony Jaswinski (Killing Time), is set in a once-thriving city where shadowy forms cause residents to inexplicably disappear. Five survivors fight to stay alive while grappling with the meaning of existence. Hayden Christensen has signed on to star and Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo are in negotiations to star in the thriller, which is being produced independently. Shooting will take place in the "once-thriving" city of Detroit.

I really like the concept for this. It kind of reminds me of Dark City or The Langoliers (in a distant way). But I'm worried it'll turn out a bit more like Fernando Meirelles' Blindness (as a bleak apocalyptic film) and not as sci-fi as I'm hoping, but it's really too early to tell. It's being described as more of a psychological thriller than anything. Here's a different plot synopsis: In an instant, Mankind disappears and in a matter of hours four remaining survivors are drawn together to try to figure a way out of the apparent apocalypse happening around them. Sounds pretty cool, I really hope Anderson puts together a great film. We'll be following it!

I have yet to see Christensen convince me on the big screen, he's a real actor

I loved Christensen in Life as a House but that is due to the fact that he played a 16 year old kid which is the persona he always plays in his other films even when it doesn't call for it i.e. Jumper. Plus most of his scenes in LAAH were with Kevin Kline and that definitely would have pushed him to be a better actor.

I will watch ANYTHING with Ms. Newton in it. She is a Goddess ! Even if it contains other actors that....well....can't ACT!

How the hell does a non-actor like Christensen keep getting work?!

@5 He uses the power of the dark side, duh! You would sign him too if he started to choke you with a wink of his pinky. 😉

I hated the blind girl in "the langoliers"

@9 well i figured his agent was satan because he makes deals at the expense of the rest of us, making us suffer through what could have been good movies

Yeah well too bad he got his legs chopped off then burnt to a crisp..and he doesnt count as Darth Vader hes too much of a pussy. The Langoliers was pretty amazing even how low budget and as much bad acting as there was it was just so damn creepy and intriguing...and yeah that blind girl pissed me off every time she said something..."Theres something bad..very very bad coming" I mean shes blind shoulda just left her useless ass behind.

@13 yeah I had high hopes for Jumper...but my hopes fell flat when I once again was subjected to Christensen faux acting abilities

his only good role was shattered glass...only because he is whiny. But it was a good movie..based on a true story. This guy is a good director, so maybe we will see a good performance from Hayden.

#17 agreed, maybe Hayden will wow everyone, me I'm partial to him so I'll check it out.
