Disney's Race to Witch Mountain Super Bowl TV Spot

Disney has debuted their Super Bowl TV spot for Race to Witch Mountain in advance of the big show on Sunday. Thankfully this means we can get the crap out of the way first this weekend. No matter how many Star Wars jokes they throw into this, I still think this looks just plain bad. I'm not a fan of the original Escape to Witch Mountain nor am I looking forward to this in the least, so I'm not going to speak highly of it at all. Just because Dwayne Johnson or Carla Gugino are in this doesn't mean it will be good. And as you'll see in this TV spot, it's going to be an easy sell for mass audiences, but I plan on skipping it.
Race to Witch Mountain is directed by Andy Fickman, of the Disney hits She's the Man and The Game Plan previously. The screenplay was co-written by both Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard) and Matt Lopez (Bedtime Stories). While this is a remake of Disney's Escape to Witch Mountain, it's actually based on the book of the same name written by Alexander Key. Disney's Race to Witch Mountain will hit theaters everywhere on March 13th, 2009 next year. Will you be seeing this in theaters? Or not at all?

"Just because Dwayne Johnson or Carla Gugino are in this doesn't mean it will be good." Uhh... doesn't having Dwayne Johnson in it guarantee it'll be bad?

My kids are looking forward to it. I have fond memories of seeing the original as a kid. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the remake, and probably wouldn't be seeing it either if I didn't have kids of my own. At least it won't be a "kids movie" with singing and dancing teenagers in it. Alex, you need to edit your link to the book. It goes to the wrong one.

Oh come on - it Surely is far more entertaining than the much hyped Southland Tales! Give the Rock a chance. He's trying to be a good Dad.

Man I like Dwayne but why does he have to shoose such emo roles. He really should fire his agent.

Is The Rock groping that little blonde headed girl in the above picture?...I believe he's executing Frank Costanza's "stop short" move from Seinfeld.

It looks decent enough for a Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson movie. The kids will love it.

U.S. restriction on the video? Is the video THAT BAD? Is Disney/MTV embarrassed of the video? Guess I won't know being in Canada.
