Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Oh look, it's three actors you've never seen before, right?! No, it's three actors you've only seen together for the last 10 years straight. I really love the Harry Potter franchise, but come on, this is the first photo they put out for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? Okay, maybe I'm being a little too harsh. It's cool to see this photo because it means we can start getting excited about the next Harry Potter movie again and start forgetting about Twilight. USA Today debuted this photo in a little article talking about what to expect and the changes and what'll be happening in Part I of the final installment, due out next year. Check it out!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Above is Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. What are they looking at? Does anyone know? Could it be Voldemort? Dubbed a "road movie" by producer David Heyman, Hallows was envisioned by director David Yates as more grounded in reality than the previous Potter films. "It's going to feel very real," Yates says. "We're going for a vérité approach. Being away from Hogwarts, they're like these three refugees on the run. They're out in the big bad world, facing real danger, unguarded by those wonderful benign wizards at Hogwarts. They don't have a home to go to."

"It's cool to see this photo because it means we can start getting excited about the next Harry Potter movie again and start forgetting about Twilight." Exactly.

totally agree @ #1. can not wait.

@#1: Hell YEAH. I'm getting really tired of seeing this tween flick Twilight on the top of the movies every week. About time Harry Potter cast a spell on those vampires.

RZA Fan on Dec 1, 2009

Twilight. Yuck. Id choose HP over Twilight anyday.

Aimee on Dec 1, 2009

harry's face gets wider and more weird looking every movie

joshua Roach on Dec 1, 2009

Yeah I'm afraid that Daniel R. might end up looking pretty freaky when he gets older.

Knawx on Dec 1, 2009

who's the extra? this pic is boring and lame.

xerxex on Dec 1, 2009

Why do they make Harry look like an old man? His hair is atrocious.

ebbie on Dec 1, 2009

Daniel is starting to look like Peter Griffin.

Erwin on Dec 1, 2009

why is it that no matter what movie an article is about there are always people bringing up twilight. you people talk more about twilight than people that loved it.

samuel j on Dec 1, 2009

#9- hahahaha...Even though this is the first photo released, there is footage of Part I on the Bluray special features (not quite sure if they are on the DVD special features). Very much looking forward to that.

Ugh... they should have replaced Daniel Radcliffe a long time ago... like the 3rd or so movie. lol @10

giraffic on Dec 1, 2009

Well, it's not COMPLETELY worthless. If you look closely, you'll see Hermione is holding a bag which contains all their stuff that they bring with them on their journey. This takes place after the wedding once they change clothes and head on their search for the horcruxes. But other than that, it's pretty boring. At least there was another picture leaked out and it showed the trio all dressed in the same clothes because it's after the seven potters scene, though the quality of the picture wasn't great.

wowzers their all wearing sweater vest, classy move harry potter crew 😉

Does Radcliffes face piss anyone else off as much as it does me here?...I just wanna punch him.

Cody on Dec 1, 2009

I see a lot of complaining but I have to say, this for the franchise (on screen) is completely new. Have you ever seen the trio in the real world, wearing normal clothes? One shouldn't be expecting special effect shots at this time either. And I'm very excited about these two movies. David Yates has made this series mature very well on screen and I'm VERY glad he's doing the last two. He's pushed the actors more than the other directors and these last two movies shouldn't be about the magicky colourful world of the first movies. I for one, can't wait to see David Yates punching these three with the "real world". I want human darkness to creep in more than ever. I hope these two movies have, yes, moments to laugh, but also moments that really aren't asking for people to laugh. The 6th movie had a bit of that, and throwing that into the HP world just makes it look more mature and deeper than just magic and trolls.

Ron is looking a bit chubb 'round the midsection.

Mrs Harry Potter on Dec 1, 2009

Hermione has a zit on her right cheek.

Shuriken on Dec 1, 2009

LOL why release a photo at all? jesus this photo did nothing for me. BUT I CANT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE.

Meatcarnage on Dec 1, 2009

I think this is meant to be Tottenham Ct Rd (the bit between St Stephen's Place and Goodge St). Which is, yeah, kind of exciting if you remember what happens there. Nice way to grab my interest. (I've read the books but only under the insistence of somebody else.) Bonus points for the choice of a photo with the word CINEMA disguised behind them.

Rich on Dec 2, 2009

the photo for Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows is shit, there in a cinema foyer so what it about intresting as platting fog. 🙁

Cineprog on Dec 2, 2009

Yates really dropped the ball with Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince. The movies were good, but he changes things so drastically that you can't help but think they would have been much better if they'd stayed closer to the book. This is especially true in HBP, the end should have been much more dramatic. He understates a lot of things. I really hope he doesn't dumb down the Battle at Hogwarts towards the end of Deathly Hallows--that's the pinnacle of the series, the ultimated battle between good and evil. Make us believe it, Yates.

NadaNuff on Dec 2, 2009

Why does Harry's face look like it was shopped and made 10% smaller?

Panna on Dec 2, 2009

#27, the end was pretty dramatic. If it was more I think people would be complaining that it was over dramatic.

branden on Dec 2, 2009

The corny, slow-motion drop from the tower was a bit too dramatic, but for the most part Dumbledore's death was very underplayed, especially the aftermath. The book really gave you a sensation about how loved he was in the magical world, with different wizards and "races" (centaurs, mermaids, etc.) attending the funeral and expressing their sadness. In the movie the students raised their wands to the sky and lit it up. Lame. I also feel the dueling could have been more fleshed out. He did a better job in Order of the Phoenix, though.

NadaNuff on Dec 2, 2009

Harry Potter is going to return with a bang and show the damn Twilight fans how its done.

????? on Dec 2, 2009

All the Twilight fans I know are Potter fans. Who is showing how what is done? It'll be the same people waiting in line over night to see the same shit that's been put out in the previous films. No exitement from me.

Ariel on Dec 2, 2009

Not even close #32. I don't think HP fans are into soft teenage porn.

Clover on Dec 2, 2009

#33, actually, this wasn't reported here, but from an interview with David Yates, there's a scene in which... “a horcrux [carrying a piece of Voldemort’s soul] defends itself by producing nightmarish visions, and one shows Hermione and Harry embracing and kissing,” explained Yates. “It’s something intriguing and sensual for Rupert to react to, and Dan will be bare for that.”" so, yeah. a fully naked Harry kissing Hermione. don't ever say us HP fans aren't into soft teenage porn...

crumb on Dec 2, 2009

Rupert Grint looks like he's been on a bender.

dawnofthedeadremakewasmuchbetter on Dec 3, 2009

34....OK, let's try this this you obviously did not get the gist and reality of the staement. .........................I don't think HP fans are into bad film making.

Clover on Dec 3, 2009

Yates is by far the best director this franchise has had. Eventhought he strayed from the books at times (esp. in HBP at the end) I think what people need to understand that if he stayed too true to the book then the movies would be like eight hours long. Half Blood Prince is my favorite book and Yates nailed it on screen. I hope he can do the same with Deathly Hallows.

Six Three on Dec 3, 2009

Alfonso Cuarón was the best director Potter ever had.

"David Webb" on Dec 3, 2009

@37...Alfonso Cuaron?

TL on Dec 4, 2009

#38, you're wrong. he started the whole wizards in muggle clothes thing and that's no good.

crumb on Dec 5, 2009

@40 - Who cares about the clothes? Azkaban is widely recognized as probably the best Potter movie made.

"David Webb" on Dec 6, 2009

Has anyone else found the filming of the last 2 Harry Potter films disappointing. The picture is so dark you can't make out who or what is on the screen? I am a "died in the wool" fan of the Harry Potter books and usually can't wait for the films; but the quality of what you see is so disappointing. I know the books get "darker" but you should at least be able to see what is happening on the screen. I hope the last 2 are better.

NormaDawn on Dec 16, 2009

i can't wait!!!i started reading hp when i was six and now i'm almost 12! the acting is so good!! this is inspiering me to start an acting career!!!

limerick on Jan 22, 2010

Any picture from HP7 is exciting to me. Ever since I started seeing even the simplest images from the film, I have been dying to see the film. I also read the book again. Anyway, I think its just fun trying to work out which part of the book the image portrays.
