District 9 TV Spot

A brand new extended 60-second TV spot for Neill Blomkamp's District 9 has just landed online. Don't expect to too much new footage, but this is a bit of a different cut than the most recent trailer and does feature some very interesting and revealing lines of dialogue (I won't say which ones). If you haven't already heard, District 9 will be showing at Comic-Con on Thursday this week, so expect to hear some early buzz coming from that. Peter Jackson, who produced this, will also be at Comic-Con in support of the movie. So even if you're not going to be San Diego this week, definitely watch this, it's still looks as awesome as before.

An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions in Johannesburg, South Africa suddenly find a "kindred spirit" in a government agent from MNU that is exposed to their mysterious biotechnology.

District 9 is both written and directed by first-timer Neill Blomkamp, a South African filmmaker who previously directed the awesome Halo: Arms Race shorts. The screenplay was co-written by Blomkamp and writing partner Terri Tatchell. This project is based on Blomkamp's short film Alive in Joburg, which can be seen online here. Sony will be bringing District 9 to theaters everywhere on August 14th this summer.

I'm thinking this movie is going to be really, really good, I might be wrong. But if i'm right, then i'm gonna be kind of angry that they didn't let Neil shoot the Halo movies, because in my opinion, if he was good enough for Peter Jackson, then he was good enough for Halo. Now, Neils fresh approch will be for District 9 instead of a Halo movie. I'm hoping for the best.

You know how people got all pumped up for Transformers and wet the bed a lot when they saw a picture of a robot. I feel a little like that now, I know I won't be disappointed.

Chilly chills! Anything that brings film making to the motherland is okay in my book. Africa Unite!!!!

This is one of the film I'm waiting with passion...

I'm looking forward to it because if it makes money maybe it'll push World War Z out as what it should be, an adult political take on that Horror Zombie genre as District 9 seems to be an adult political take on Alien Sci-Fi.

Im glad its rated R

Trey on Jul 21, 2009

It's a decent flick. Don't miss it if you're a sci-fi fan.

Cat on Jul 21, 2009

Seems very predictable, but very entertaining and possibly smart. I'll be there!

Marty Martin on Jul 21, 2009

this film looks fucking great, can't wait for this one over here in the u.k.

zetsu on Jul 21, 2009

I'm glad it's rated r also. I dislike who seems to be the main character, his acting feels very weak, it in fact is probably the only things bringing me down. Everything else just looks jaw-dropping.

Matthew on Jul 21, 2009

#8 have u seen it already??

Trey on Jul 21, 2009

Yeah I saw a copy my brother sent me. He works in the industry and gets everything before it's released for pre-screening. It's definitely worth a look in the theater.

Cat on Jul 21, 2009

Peter Jackson's? Erm, nope, it's Neil Bloomkamp's.

This movie gonna be a blast! At last a new movie with new fresh idea's, I'm getting tired of all remakes and shit, it's such a waste of money. More stuff like this, sweet mother of God!

This may be the suprise hit of the summer.

JimD on Jul 21, 2009

Move over Bay/McG.... this seriously looks the most realistic setting for an alien war movie ever..... more realistic than the original 'alien'. no offense :).... what was the other alien/robot/action movie released this summer? ...oh that #%^$&^*^

evilnik on Jul 21, 2009
