Thanks to our friends in France (via Allocine), we finally have a trailer for I Love You Phillip Morris, starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Right off the bat you'll get to see exactly what this is all about. It's quirky and fun and very gay but that's why it's so great (read my review from Cannes). This obviously isn't going to be a movie for everyone, which is why it's still labeled as an indie and had its prmeiere at Sundance earlier this year. However, it's still a fun movie with a good story and great performances. As always, even if you're not that interested, I suggest you check this out, you might be surprised. The trailer is in English!
Watch the first French trailer for I Love You Phillip Morris from YouTube:
When Steve Russell turns to cons and fraud to allow him to change his lifestyle, his subsequent stay in the state penitentiary results in his meeting the love of his life, a sensitive fellow inmate named Phillip Morris.
I Love You Phillip Morris is both written and directed by first-time feature filmmakers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who previously wrote the screenplays for Cats & Dogs, Bad Santa, and Bad News Bears. The film is based on Steven McVicker's book of the same name. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Consolidated Pictures is bringing I Love You Phillip Morris to theaters on February 12th.

Nice! Looks really good. Is it for the role or is Jim Carrey's hair line pulling a Nic Cage here?

Just wondering if any more of Apatow's people are involved in this? And if so will this be an R rated Dramedy or a PG-13 letdown. I think there is some excellent comedy that Jim Carrey can do with an R rating and a prison setting.

Well I say Ewan Mcgregor really has no shame I mean has anyone ever watched Velvet Goldmine? The guy stripes 100% naked, yeah...bit awkward when I first saw it...O.o As for this It looks like it would be a lot of fun! and as for Steven Russell this guy has got 144 years in prison, and has escaped a lot so to see Jim Carrey as Russell is gonna be great COUNT ME IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Rabs up at # 2. No, Jim's hairline is not receding. He shaved it an inch back for this movie, so he could emphasize the character's brain.

Wow, this is so unique I may rent it, even though it's really gay, lol. Seeing Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor star together is like a once in a lifetime thing so I'm interested.

Why is everybody so timid about this movie? But the masses will flock to the cinema to see Bruno, and not watch a movie with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor acting like a gay couple. Key word "acting" and not really being gay.

wow Ewan McGregor looks great looking forward to it

ew. just. ew. I've never seen a trailer that so portrayed two actors so bent on complete and total career sepuku.

what the hell are you talking about #27 plenty of actors have played gay characters on film and have gone on to a bigger and better career. We all know McGregor and Carrey are from what I know hetrosexuals, so they are not gay it is the characters that are gay. #28 I think they're careers will be okay after this film comes out.

Eeeew, two guys kissing on screeeen! They must be gay in real life! So gross!!1!!!!111!! It's called acting. And pretty damn good acting at that. All you homophobic douchebags need to grow the fuck up. And yeah, playing a gay guy in a movie certainly wrecks ones career. Just look at Brokeback Mountain. Ledger and Gyllenhaal never got any new offers after THAT one! Oh wait... *rolleyes*

Not funny and it's very hard to watch.

This is the third movie ewan has portrayed a gay/bi character (pillow book & velvet goldmine) and in both movies he gets quite naked ( also in trainspotting) and his careers doing just fine. I'm just a tad surprised alex wrote the disclaimer that it's not for everybody. The fact that the samecould be said about ANY movie makes that statement apologetic to homophobes. If that statement were made 40 years ago about a movie about African Americans it would be apologetic to racists. (40 yearsbecause that's about how far behind gay rights are)

This looks absolutely terrible. Jim Carrey's career has really gone down the shithole if he is reduced to make something that looks this bad. Seriously that trailer was very very hard to watch. Jim Carrey is a very talented actor too. Just watch his older movies that are good and don't include any twisted views on reality like this one does. Marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. Oh and by the way I like Borat but I did not even think about seeing Bruno. I fucking hate Hollywood and its sick views it impends on the people of America.

Actually Mat in comment 32, this is Ewan's 4th film playing a gay/bisexual character. His 3rd was "Scenes of a Sexual Nature." Also, I think that part in the disclaimer is more about how quirky and strange the film is, rather than the sexual orientation of the characters. It's bizarre story is what will make it appeal to only a select audience, not that there's anything wrong with that. I love how the film looks and sounds.
