TRAILERS
First Official Trailer for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood is Online!
by Alex Billington

Source: ComingSoon
This may be the first huge delightful surprise this month. Universal has just debuted the first international trailer for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett (via ComingSoon). I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting much at the start, but man does this trailer kick some ass! It takes a little bit of time to get going, so give it a minute, but once it kicks in you'll be hyped for this thing until the end. I'm really glad to see Ridley Scott pumping up the Robin Hood fairytale with some grit and grime like this. It does look a little bit like Gladiator, but in the good epic way, not the deja vu way. Anyway, check this out!
Watch the first trailer for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood:
You can also watch the official trailer for Robin Hood in High Definition on Apple
Follows Robin (Russell Crowe) from his early days in King Richard's army to his return to Nottingham to his creation of a band of mercenaries who challenge the sheriff and eventually try to prevent civil war.
Robin Hood is directed by British filmmaker Ridley Scott, of many classics like Alien, Blade Runner, Black Rain, G.I. Jane, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, and many more. The script was written by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland, of L.A. Confidential, Conspiracy Theory, Mystic River, Man on Fire, Green Zone, and more. Universal is bringing Robin Hood to theaters starting on May 14th, 2010.

Looks gay. Scott lost it years ago. Doubt this will be any better than Kingdom of Heaven - which by the way, was also gay.

Looks promsing indeed, but deffentially need to see some more. I do really like the fact that this is a R rated tale of Robin Hood and not some crappy Disney cash in. Should be really intresting to see where they take it.

It'd be cool if there was one singing number n the middle just to lighten it up a little bit, always with the serious! just a wee dance Robin and piggyback from the Friar.

WOW AWESOME! cant believe anyone can say this looks gay...btw #3 Kingdom of heavens Directors cut was equal to gladiator. Im so looking forward to a good non CGI driven epic. Scotts cinematography in some of these shots just awesome.

i think it looks pretty good. i love period movies and this looks to have plenty of great action. i'm sure crowe and blanchett will give their usual brilliant performances......i just hope the story is just as good. and none of the haters above have ONE good reason why this movie is going to be bad. just more lame comments. i'm all for "free speech"...........just not "stupid speech". and to # 3........kingdom of heaven was a really good movie. and besides, with a name like "made marion"......you have NO room to talk about something being "gay". #6 - yea, i'm glad it's "R" too. i'm tired of "pg-13" movies being dumbed down for the teeny-boppers. #14 - exactly. too many of the people on here know NOTHING about movies. they just like to make fools of themselves. #15 - yea, i thought the music was the weak spot of that trailer. and, i'm hoping for another trailer that gives us some dialogue with an indication on what the focus of the plot will be about.

30 - Checkmate. lol I'll give you a slew of reasons why this trailer was poor, beavis. It didn't showcase anything new. It was rammed full of action sequences, most of which were on horses. It introduced 2 characters; who else seems relevant in this film? All I saw was violence, imagery, and text on the screen. If the point of this film is to deliver aggression and symbolize how Robin Hood is a war mongler, then mission accomplished. Aside from that, there is absolutely NO depth. NONE. Especially with this being "An International Trailer"? Not a teaser... it's piss poor in delivering any sort of hint at a story and feel. 20 & 22 coined this perfectly. forgettable.

WOW! This is my most anticipated flick for 2010 but even I wasn't expecting that. I'm in awe!!! That's was simply amazing! Definitley a much darker Robin Hood, which is the way it should be. One of my favorite directors and actors back together again. Gives me chills! Definitely a Gladiator feel and I kinda got a Seven feel from the music. Oh I can't F'in wait!!! Will be EPIC and KICK ASS! Are you not entertained!!!

#31 are talking about the trailer having no depth or the film? #21 Chill out!!!! It's the first trailer they've released, christ don't get so worked up about it! i'm sure there will be more! Made marion you're a plank!!! Ridley Scott has produced some of the most epic films ever! I know you're entitled to your opinion but i have to say it's pretty sh*t!! ๐ Another thing actions speak louder than words!!! Don't always need speech!

I am a fan of R. Scott, but by the way it looks, is going to draw too many comparisons to Gladiator and then fall flat for not being as good like kingdom of heaven did. The question is, can he truly top Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves? Lets face it, that movie had Morgan Freeman and a soundtrack by Bryan Adams. Lets just hope Russel Hood can do better.

Aiming for the Transformers 2 audience? Bang for the buck, scrap the story? Well, time will tell. Besides, anyone else with the impression that they cancelled post production on this one? Looks like straight from the camera. So far not my cup of tea.

39
Universal is always hit or miss on their trailers. This one is a miss, but I can definitely see evidence that this film will have greater intensity and acting than Robin Hoods of the past. It's good to see Ridley shifting away from modern day films to period pieces again. #38 is right. No post evidence in this. Just the camera without touch up.

This had so much potential when it was going to be called "Nottingham" and told from the Sheriff's perspective. It's too bad the studio, Ridley, and all parties involved lost their balls and couldn't go through with an interesting new take on the story.

hey "dan the fan" ......what "depth" do you want in a 2 minute teaser? and by the way; a movie can be well made and a fun watch without having depth. i enjoy many different movie genres/styles. you should broaden your movie preferences a little. and what's the problem with only showing a couple characters in a teaser? what?......you want them to show you the WHOLE movie plot?....... I DON"T! and as far as the action on screen? they show what will grab peoples attention. that's what teasers do. there will probably be a full trailer sometime before release with more character interaction. and if (like doom canoe) you've forgotten everything you just saw then you need to seek medical help for ADD. and "made marion"........ use using the term "gay" the way you did is offensive to many people. and i'm not even sure how you equate being "gay" to being a bad film. sounds kind of childish to me. and by the way: using the term "noob" is even more childish. is that the best reply you can come up with? at least "dan the fan" disagreed with me by offering some opinions..........grow up.

# 82 ditto. and any of you who are "meh" or complaining about the trailer need not bother to post much like you your opinion does not matter. This movie looks promising and from what i have read and seen briefly hear is a new rendition of the robin hood film. you old grandparents can go watch your Kevin Costner classic. which was not bad dont get me wrong but it falls under fairy tail structure and lack of character design.

Nothing wowed me. Actually, seemed like a B movie trailer and the only reason people would be hyped for this movie is the fact that Russell Crowe is in it and Ridley Scott is directing. Only thing I saw in this trailer was your obligatory explosion (action) scenes which weren't very good IMO.
