Full-Length Trailer for Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story
And you thought there were no more trailers today! CNN has debuted the first full-length trailer for Michael Moore's new documentary Capitalism: A Love Story. We featured the first interactive teaser back in June, but unlike that one, this has actual footage from the doc. Being a Moore fan, I've got to say this looks as awesome, hilarious, and controversial as any of his previous films. This time, Moore tackles Wall Street and our economy. I'm not so sure I like his use of all the cheerful 50's style footage, but I do love his not-so-subtle use of MIA's "Paper Planes." Please try and keep all comments about the film itself and not politics.
Watch the full-length trailer for Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story:
A comical look at the global financial crisis and the current troubles with the U.S. economy during the transition between the incoming Obama Administration and the outgoing Bush Administration.
Capitalism: A Love Story was both written and directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Michael Moore, of documentaries like Roger & Me, The Big One, Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko, and Captain Mike Across America, as well as the comedy Canadian Bacon. Moore started shooting pieces of this last year and has been working to uncover the "secrets" of Wall Street and our economy ever since. Overture Films and Paramount Vantage will be bringing the documentary to theaters on September 23rd this fall.
Roger & Me was good, but other than that, I can't take Moore. He's always got a personal agenda to push and is generally just a douche.

I wonder if he'll distribute the majority of his millions among the disadvantaged. Vic

Michael Moore seems like an okay film maker, I just think he'd be great if he focused his energy on making an actual documentary.
Al on Aug 20, 2009
i'm going to keep my personal politics aside, but it has to be said. he shows bush talking a lot (makes sense as he was in office when stocks started taking a hit last fall) but i wonder if obama will be shown for his involvement in the economic mess as well. GM for sure. or perhaps the organizations that advocated for fannie and freddie to make some sub prime investments. if so it'd be more factual then some of his other work, which some criticize as being more like political spin rather then intellectual works. i did like some of his humor in bowling for columbine though. canadian bacon was his best work though
funnytunney on Aug 20, 2009
I think instead of just showing Obama's involvement with GM, he should also show his precious democrats being the ones who voted in the initial bailouts in October. I bet he makes it look like a Bush thing though....he has his ways of doing that.

@ #2 Logical Fallacy FTL! Attacking the person making the argument, rather than the argument itself (hell YOU dont even KNOW the argument yet!) is an idiotic and shallow minded way of saying, "I dont know shit" And that's not politics, that's logic.
ConcernedRationalBeing on Aug 20, 2009
I like his doc's and as #4 stated his humor is pretty good, but my favorite part of BfC was the Marilyn Manson interview about what he would have told the two kids he said "I'd listen to them, which no else did." But I'd rather not watch something about the economy, mainly because it's not going to make a bit of difference, unless the people rise up...but Moore only has one side to all his arguments and dosesn't really give us the truth, so pass.
Xerxex on Aug 20, 2009
@ #1....Regardless of what you think about Moore, all documentary filmmakers have an agenda to push. "This Film Is Not Yet Rated," "Super Size Me," "Murderball," you name it, an agenda is there.
Anton on Aug 20, 2009
:)) ha ha ... Moore really know to entertain using the social problems. I like it because it's smart.
Nicholas on Aug 20, 2009
"theirs got to be some kind of rebellion between the people who have nothing, and the people who've got it all" that's a pretty awesome quote from a buckshot hillbilly with a choppy mustache.
DoomCanoe on Aug 20, 2009
I hate how misleading the title is on this doc. It was the lack of capitalism that caused all the problems. Research Peter Schiff.
Zac on Aug 20, 2009
so...michael moore's a communist now?
Jake on Aug 20, 2009
Hey Zac, it was many things. Sounds like you are a follower of the Freidman school of thought. Hey everybody if you want to read an interesting and insightful book about Governments, corporations and economy I suggest you read "Shock Doctrine" I will say this, if more people spent their time getting involved instead of bashing Michael Moore we'd probably be in better shape. Yep we are all to blame for the mess we're in.
ObiWop on Aug 20, 2009
Yeah this looks great I'm excited for this. Still not sure which one of his films is my favorite, I was trying to figure that out the other day....
Caitie on Aug 20, 2009
Haha, Baron Hill. That's my congressman!! Incidently, he's still too scared to have a townhall meeting on healthcare. Michael Moore is generally a lying jerk, but this trailer was funny.
scm1000 on Aug 20, 2009
Doesn't look as good as his other works, but I'm still intrigued!
Ajax on Aug 20, 2009
ok , politics aside.............this is just more MM crap. yea, MM thinks the bailouts are wrong.....but i guess his using other peoples personal tragedies to make millions for himself is fine? no, mike.....it isn't fine. someone should be knocking on MM door and asking HIM for some money back. what a hack.

Its truly amazing how much this countries getting fucked over.....and how unaware everyone is of it. For the last 10...pssh hell 50 years weve been manipulated into arguing with each other so much that we dont even know who or where are true problem/enemy is. Its called divide and conquer people and man are you people the lab rats for that theory. Not to mention he doesnt once mention Obamas tripling of our debt in 90 days but hey that doesnt matter...neither does the Constitution to any of you apparently. No matter how kinda off topic it is...mark my words this country falls in the next 3 years. Dont give a rats ass if you disagree (cause Im not gonna reply back anyway) just mark my words. /end self righteous rant

i always enjoy michael moore films. i giggled during this entire trailer. definitely on my to see list.
Lacey on Aug 20, 2009
I laughed at this trailer, and I enjoyed Columbine, but Moore is a typical old-school salesman. All smoke and mirrors. But hell, at least entertaining. Don't know that I've actually forgiven him yet for making Charleton Heston look like such an ass when the poor guy had alsheimers and was not far from his end, but maybe that's just me.

I will buy into this fat douches ideas as soon as he re-distributes all he has and lives like everyone else. Until that happens he is just another rich commie douche trying to add validity to their life buy taking down those who actually achieve. John Galt for president.
Frank on Aug 21, 2009
Michael against the machine.
pipo on Aug 21, 2009
um MIA and Diplo are making billions off of Paper planes. I wish MM wasn't so biased, I think I would be more inclined to watch his films. Trailer is good though.

Greedy people will always screw other folk into the ground, it's what makes us human. If they started killing some of the greediest then maybe they wouldn't be so inclined to steal.

@ #24 awesome atlas shrugged reference. now there's a movie i'd like to see made
funnytunney on Aug 21, 2009
Free Speech is what makes our country great. Too bad it's mainly used by idiots in Hollywood and bands like Green Day who have no idea what's going on. Green Day probably gets all their information from MM and Bill Maher. So sad that documentaries have to pick and piece negative things about our government, businesses, and people to be successful. It's ironic that Michael Moore makes films about the things wrong with America when giving someone like him free speech is just as big of a problem. It makes people believe everything sucks and all government and big businesses are terrible. If America is so terrible, why do so many people flock to live here?
Branden on Aug 21, 2009
@31 because they've been sold on the "American Dream." Once they get here they find nothing but a nightmare.
Fritz Blaze on Aug 21, 2009
pfff... this is nothing. You shuld look CQC, a tv show from Argentina. those guys really mess with the goverment.
Silent Berni on Aug 21, 2009
Whooooooooooooooooooot! Another Michael Moore Movie. Can't wait ;] His movies always make me think.
Notex on Aug 21, 2009
#32 you're an idiot. If it's a nightmare then why don't they leave? Why aren't there tons of immigrants that tell their native country not to come? It is no secret that America is the best country in the world. Are we perfect? Is any country? No, people swarm to the US because we offer the best thing in the world that no other country can offer. Nightmare, you gotta be freakin kidding me. Get outta here if it's a nightmare.
branden on Aug 21, 2009
I hear his next movie is called FIRST!, a documentary on the how people have a whole different personality that they use online because we all hide behind a wall of being anonymous which frees us to all say stupid things.
BONO on Aug 23, 2009
Totally agree with #18, check out http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com and get the real picture people.

i love this trailer, its super funny. i love the 50s take on it. i loved all of his movies. you're truly being informed (mostly facts) and its nice to hear it from someone not involved in newscasting or anything like that. i just don't trust them
frantzy on Aug 24, 2009
YEAH YEAH #18...THIS IS SHIT... capitalism is wonderful... this whole economic meltdown is/was not Capitalism's fault.. oh and i love how Obama and the democrats are not in the trailer when it was their fault to begin with.. The push on anks to give out illegitament loans is a big portion of this plus the sub-prie mortgages...Bush may hav spent too much towards the end of his 8 years, but Obama has already spent more than all of the Presidents combined ..plus Bush had to spend alot of his money on Iraq(which everyone voted for) and Katrina...Capitalism is what won the cold war, its what tore down the berlin wall and defeated Russia...So too all who oppose capitalism (America), Go live somewhere else ...
John on Aug 26, 2009
I think I'll have learned more from Sicko then this movie. I'm kinda tired of the "I-know-what-to-do-with-money-better-than-you-do" soapbox, but then again this is a Moore movie so that's kinda what I'm getting myself into if I see this. Then again, most of the places he'll visit in NYC will deserve to get harassed anyways. So that will bring some hilarity. I'll catch it on Netflix.
Nate on Aug 27, 2009
This movie just feels old and tired. We've seen his shtick already. Harrassing security guards, standing outside offices delivering pre-scripted "snappy" lines ... Yawn. Time to move on, Mikey.
Karz on Aug 28, 2009
Another bullshit Michael Moore propaganda movie that perpetuates his lies to uninformed teens and young adults. All one sided. @ #35 - You're awesome! That's one of the best and funniest and most truthful comment I've read here.
T-Man on Aug 29, 2009
Um, hello? AIG was nationalized!!! thats a socialist practice, not a capitalist one! In a free market, capitalist system this COULD NOT HAPPEN. when are Americans going to learn the distinction between left and right?
MichaelV on Aug 29, 2009
Regardless of his personal agenda (and yes we ALL have a personal agenda) it is the debating that follows his movies that matters. Michael Moores movies get people talking. That is what matters and for that I salute him.
Vold on Sep 4, 2009
does anybody know the name of the band who made the song in the 2nd half of the movie?
