Ghostbusters 3

So here's what we know about Ghostbusters 3 so far: "Office" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are writing the script; Sony is hoping to release it in 2011; the story is about a group of new, young Ghostbusters; and all of the original cast will be back and will supposedly play "mentors." Well, we have another update on this sequel, this time from Harold "Dr. Egon Spengler" Ramis, who spoke with MTV. "There will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you'll all love when you meet him but I'm not going to tell you anything yet." Oh, really?

So what will you tell us, Dr. Spengler? "They'll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who'll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they're going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension." Whoa! He just mentioned a lot of interesting things there. Dimension to dimension? Psychotrons and neuron splitters? What about the nuclear-powered proton packs that they used to wear? I'm not sure if Ramis was joking, but this is some interesting stuff, and I'm not sure if it's even good?

I don't even know whether this is all stuff we'll eventually see in Ghostbusters 3, but I commend Ramis for capturing my interest. Of course, the moment we do learn more about this sequel, we'll let you know!

Not so sure about this. Loved the first, second was alright, but a third, and including all of the old busters? I'll need to see more and remain hopeful.

"What about the nuclear-powered proton packs that they used to wear?" I believe in the movies Egon occasionally refers to the proton packs themselves as particle accelerators, this is probably what Ramis is referring to when he mentions, "the accelerators."

have faith CK, I think the original 4 would be reluctant to sign on if they thought if t was goin to suck. I wonder will Rick Moranis be back aswell?

^You're right #2. I have faith in this. I don't have enough faith like it'll be so awesome if they continued back then or that it will be awesomely terrific but enough that it won't suck so much we'll act like it never happened.

Unless the "individual" who's leading them is a time-traveling Bill Murray from 1984, I'm not interested.

That's what i wanted to hear "The Return of the old Ghostbusters and playing as mentors" He got my attention too to be honest with you Alex. I am getting pretty excited about this, hope they return back to the old make up and old creepy visual effects to make the movie looks the same as it's predecessors. Would love to see this now.

I read a while back about Ben Stiller being one of the young Ghostbusters... Murray-Stiller interaction would be great!

The Proton packs ARE the accelerators. Please, this is common knowledge.

Been waiting for this forever......No Stiller, that is such an ugly rumor. My God, Murry and the Hack Stiller in the same frame? That would truley be the end of the world. The interaction would be talent vs. NO talent. C'Mon FS, proton packs are the non-regulated nuclear accelerators.

I think this is the source of the confusion: CHUD spoke briefly to Dan Aykroyd last week about the third film as well as the video game that is coming out later this year. Aykroyd apparently believes that the video game is the third movie and it is also a lead in to the third movie... He mentions all the dimention to dimention stuff and neuron splitters etc.. in reference to the game. I think all of this to say...no one has any idea what the third movie will be about. You can see the CHUD article here from April 10th: http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/18933/1/AYKROYD-PROMISES-SIGOURNEY-WEAVER-FOR-GHOSTBUSTERS-3/Page1.html

Hell yes. This is great news. Hated the 2nd film, but hopefully with time, a good story line and awesome special effects, this will hopefully be awesome. Is Ivan Reitman directing again and if not then who.

Definitely seems like too much buildup for a movie coming out in 2+ years. Original Ghostbusters was great because it was so original, nothing like that had been done, and you had shit out of left field like the Stay Puft M. Man. The second movie pretty much tried to replicate the zaniness, except with the Statue of Liberty (LAME!). So who knows? I can't imagine "The Office" writers mixing science-fiction with comedy with any success, 14, if not Ivan Reitman, maybe Jason Reitman.

Peter Venkman and the boys had a less than thrilling sequel. But...the original stands in such an awesome universe on its own.. and to fuck it up with some sewage like what this is beginning to sound like is just sad. This better not be a piece of shit like the new Indy. That movie had to be, in recent memory, one of the most disappointing additions to a great film franchise in a long time. Shia Lebouf and those fucking monkeys is what I now think about.. when I need to puke the morning after a big night out. First the Apatow rumors had me thinking of Lebouf and the monkeys, then that was off - thank fuck. But now what the fuck is with this new apprentice, new generation shit? It stinks of uncreative and lazy writing. Why can't we have just the old four Ghostbusters back with a really funny, gritty and original storyline? Hmm.. lets see.. cos the fucking studios want some new generation spin off shit probably. Really sad stuff. It'll be loaded with heaps of crap ass lame jokes on old school vs today's youth, similar to McClanes rants with Justin Long's forgetable character in Die hard 4. Stallone went back to basics with Rocky and Rambo. Both were awesome, fun and truly entertaining. Let's Ghostbusters 3 is too. I have a lot of faith in Bill Murray these days after Lost in Translation & everything since, and really hope he doesn't put his name to shit now after all that hard work. Oh, and I can't wait for The Expendables.

They don't want the original Ghostbusters because kids can't relate to 4 men in wheel chairs hunting ghosts. Come on guys, the actors are old now.
