Goyer Says Magneto Moving Forward in the Next Year?

David Goyer seems to have a lot on his plate. He's currently working on "Flash Forward" for ABC and is lining up other projects following The Unborn, like The Invisible Man that we always hear a lot about. He's also still attached to direct X-Men Origins: Magneto, at least for the time being. We've known that for a very long time (since 2007). And with Fox actively developing a Wolverine sequel, Deadpool spin-off, and X-Men: First Class spin-off, it would make sense they're looking into this as well. "They're still thinking about doing it," Goyer recently told MTV. "They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs."
While Goyer doesn't say much, he at least tries to be hopeful, as always. "I've been in touch with them. I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so." Whether or not that will actually happen, well, that's another story. Not that I don't trust Goyer, it's just that the Magneto origins movie has been "moving forward" for the last three years without actually moving forward. Oddly, IMDb now lists V for Vendetta director James McTeigue as a co-director, but it seems just odd that Fox would choose two directors for this, even if it would result in a fantastic movie in the end. Who knows how his name got added on there?
So for now, I'd say it's best to remain hopeful that we'll see a Magneto movie sometime in the next few years. Back in April, producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that it would depend on Wolverine's success. And before that, it was rumored that it would be shooting this year, which never happened. So we'll keep our eyes open for more updates, if they arrive anytime soon. I'd really love to see this, but its not my decision to make!

I think fox is smart by not letting goyer direct it. I mean if an oscar winning director churned out a mediocre wolverine flick then a crap director is gonna completely destory magneto movie. Magneto movie should be made on a budget of around 30-35M with someone who has chops to deliver the goods.

It would be fantastic if Goyer never directed another film. He's already proven himself quite inept at that. Stick to writing, hometown.

Good news. I had no idea McTeigue was onboard as well. Would be nice to see two directors put their own touch on the story and combine them for one movie. Have McTeigue do the WWII stuff and have Goyer do the newer stuff, great idea if you ask me.

I don't know about this one i am a big fan of the X-Men series and Marvel in general been a raving and supporting fan since my birth but Wolverine killed it for me although he is my favorite comic book character, i hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel and Deadpool could rectify things.

IMDB is well known for having misinformation since it's inception. They had Tim Burton as the director of Ben Stiller's The Mystery Men for about six years. That website is a joke. If you want facts check with Reuters, Associated Press, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. Come on people

I will always believe this as a FACT- people in Hollywood do NOT know a thing about making comic book films. If they did, they would stick to the actual story of the COMIC BOOK and go by the actual characters and their costumes, than what THEY think people will or will not except. Galactus as a cloud? Mystique in the X-MEN? Why not have Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Beast (non-fur), Angel and Iceman with Xavier (in wheelchair) fighting Magneto and the Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants or Juggernaut, looking the way they do IN THE COMICS. Until then, I will NEVER see or support another super hero/ video game movie until people in Hollywood do things RIGHT.
